Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Sally (Ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet. Frankie and Stella are two 7 1/2 year-old sister Basset hounds that came to OBHR after their owner had to go into an assisted living home. Whereas we would like to keep them adopted together, we know that is not always a possibility and can separate them if need be. Both are house trained and completely vetted and ready for new homes! Stella can have a little bit of food aggression but other than that both dogs are fine! They are not cat friendly. They are currently being fostered east of Columbus area. Their adoption fees are $300 each.  Adoption Process: To meet one our dogs you must first fill out our application on our website ohiobassetrescue.com. Once submitted one of our volunteers will reach out to you. Upon approval you will be given an approval code to email us at ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com. Approvals are good for 6 months for any current or future dogs. After 6 months you will be directed to fill out an updated application. Please note we only process applications where the adopter lives in OH, IN, KY, PA, WV, lower MI. Adopters must be willing to travel to meet the dog they are adopting. Dogs locations are listed on their profile description on our website. Dogs are NOT all located in Brookville, that is our mailing address. Please understand we are all volunteers and will respond as soon as we can as we all have jobs and family obligations. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 21, 2026, 8:22 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Sally (Ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet.Whiskey is a year and a half old female basset in need of a new home!  She is nervous with new people at first but once she gets used to you she is fine. It just seems as though she may not have been socialized very much, so a lot of experiences are new to her.     Whiskey does not seem to care at all about the other dogs, she doesn't even act like she knows they are there, lol! She came from a home with other dogs so she should be ok in a home with well mannered and non dominant dogs.   She is a little bit stubborn but I feel like that is pretty normal for a basset. Mostly, it's just when she doesn't want to do something, like go back inside after her walks, Whiskey will back up and fight the leash a bit. It's been pretty easy to redirect her though, we just take another small loop through the grass and come back to the door from a different angle.   Overall, Whiskey is a good girl She just needs someone that understands bassets and will get her some socialization so that life isn't so scary for her.  She is a very sweet girl with a few basset quirks an experienced basset owner will understand! Her adoption fee is $300 and she is currently in Columbus and will need a home with a fenced in yard!    Adoption Process: To meet one our dogs you must first fill out our application on our website ohiobassetrescue.com. No pun intended! Shortcake was a very loved and well taken care of member of a family, but her mom passed away very suddenly and her mom’s brother was not in a position to keep her. She is currently in a foster home in Columbus with both another dog and a cat. She will need a home with a fenced in yard and lots of love to give! Her adoption fee is $300 and she is all up to date, spayed, and recently had a dental done!  If you are interested in Shorty please apply online at ohiobassetrescue.com. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Sally (Ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet.Introducing Norman to OBHR! This handsome hunk of a hound need a special forever home!  Norman will be moving to a foster home in the Dayton area to evaluate his temperament with the resident foster dogs. He is completely vetted, UTD, neutered and had a dental. Until he is evaluated in our foster home he will only be considered for adoption to a home with no other dogs.    Norman is 7 years old and for most of his life he was an only dog. A new dog was brought into the home who fought with Norm so they rehomed him. The family that took him hoped he would fit in perfectly with their other dog, a small basset, but he did not so they made the painful choice to relinquish him to us. Being as poor Norm was the King of his Castle for 7 years and suddenly was not, he is more than likely confused and scared. The vets office said when he showed up he was a pretty said boy and they gave him some extra TLC!    Norman’s adoption fee will be $300. Anyone who may be able to give him a safe happy home can apply to adopt. Other homes with dogs will not be considered at this time. We will update you on his progress as he stays in foster. ohiobassetrescue.com Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 21, 2026, 8:22 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Sally (Ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet.Meet Willy! Willy is about a year and a half old and he is guessed to be a basset hound cocker spaniel mix! He came to us from a shelter who picked him up as a stray and he was never claimed. He is a sweet happy guy, but he is leery of men at first! His new home MUST have a female presence and any males must know to give him time. He is very playful and eager to please! Since he came in as a stray, we do not know his background if he is housebroken, trained or good with cats, but he has been around other dogs in the shelter and is fine! He will require a home with a fenced in yard and his adoption fee is $300. Willy Is neutered and up-to-date on all of his shots and ready to go to a new home! He is currently located in the Columbus area. Please visit our website to apply for Willy or any other one of our dogs.
