He is a 2-to-4-year-old Lab/Pittie/Working dog mix who weighs 70 pounds. Because of his working roots, Alan thrives when he feels like he has a "job" to do—making him the perfect partner for life on a farm, acreage, or a home with a big yard to patrol. Proven to Be Good in Public Pet Store Approved: Alan just attended his first public adoption event at a bustling local pet store and did phenomenally well. He handled the crowd, met tons of strangers, and greeted other dogs beautifully. Outdoor Companion: Perfect for anyone who works in their yard, garage, or field and wants a shadow-like buddy. Leash & Crate Trained: Walks beautifully on a leash and goes to his kennel for a treat. He is fully house-broken, though a big burst of excitement can occasionally cause a minor accident if he hasn't been out in a while. Great with Other Animals: He easily shares his favorite orange rubber ring with other dogs. He currently coexists beautifully with dogs of all sizes and senior cats. Slow Introductions Please Alan is a confident boy, but a past ACL injury leaves him with a slight limp and a bit of caution around new people in his personal space. He asks his human friends to approach low—avoiding reaching over his head—and let him come to you. A few treats and some ear scratches will quickly seal the deal, turning him into a total velcro dog. He is also fantastic with kids of all ages and is a certified gentleman when wearing his muzzle. House-trained, respectful indoors, and quick to settle in. They even stay calm and focused passing other barking dogs on the way to their room. They might greet new faces with a burst of enthusiastic barking, but don't let that fool you. Once they know you're a friend, especially if popcorn is involved, their sweet, affectionate sides come right out. They're food motivated and love a good training session when treats are on the table. More than anything, Tom and Jerry are looking for a family who will love them the way they already love each other. Their bond is something special, and it's not something you see every day.
