Story
Bangles news flash!! On a scale from 1 to 10, my foster mommy and daddy report that my house manners rate a perfect 100 percent - off the charts. I am completely housebroken, not the least bit destructive, relaxed, and quiet. For the most part, I am perfectly content just snoozing away on my bed or keeping you company by your side. In addition, I am a generous kisser and, in turn, appreciate the occasional belly rub. When outdoors, I am more alert and can be a bit wary of new people and dogs. However, after a short walk, I warm up quickly and, over the years, have successfully lived with multiple people and multiple dogs. I really, really enjoy basking in the sunshine - whether it be outdoors or even indoors. When indoors, I actively seek rays of light beaming through the windows and settle on spot where I can capture the warmth of the glowing sun. Sometimes I even move my bed to the sun-filled location - it really is adorable. I love going for walks and have nice leash manners - even my foster mom, who is a bit of a waif (sorry, mom) can walk me with ease and I easily correct, if needed. My foster mom and dad are absolutely smitten with me and welcome the opportunity to share my wonderful, affectionate, and humorous qualities with others. Thank you for your interest in Bangles! Story
River was found as a stray in WV. He was very scared in the shelter and really needed a rescue to step in and help. HART did and he is now in a foster home learning life isn't so scary. River is a very sweet and submissive dog who will need a patient person, or people, with experience with scared dogs. We will also consider people with dog experience and the willingness to work with a scared dog. In his foster home he is very attached to his primary person and is still nervous around other people and new environments. He does best with a lot of structure (leash, crate, schedule and supervision) and the help of a confident dog in the home to lead the way. He will require time to adjust but the effort you put in will definitely come back tenfold in love. He is not aggressive with little ones, but with his current temperament and being scared they may be too much for him. He would do best in a calm, adult only home with a yard and another dog. River is crate trained (you must have treats though) and house trained although sometimes has accidents if left unattended. He is great with his foster brothers but is generally anxious (some dogs don't like this behavior). River is not currently attending adoption events as they are very overwhelming. If interested in meeting him, please fill out an application online. If it's a good fit we may set up a meet and greet at a quiet place. River may require multiple meet-ups so he can feel more comfortable with his potential adopters. Thank you for your interest in River Dog! Story
Winkle has a lot of energy and needs a fair amount of exercise. He is playful and enjoys active play. He loves to retrieve balls in the yard as well as chase squirrels. He is very sweet and loving. Winkle knows sit, stay, down, off and come. He also will sit patiently and give you each paw while you clean or dry his feat. He is housebroken and crate trained and does very well in his crate overnight. Winkle is apprehensive when new people first enter the home and needs a patient person who will work with him. He adjusts quickly after his initial barking reaction. He walks well on the leash but needs coaxing to get in the car and is making good progress. He needs to be in a quieter home without children or teens running around and a fenced yard to run around and play in. He is very patient with other dogs, and would do very well in a home with another active dog. He was in a home with cats and did very well. Thank you for your interest in Winkle! Story
Choc is the cutest 'little' butter ball you ever did meet. Choc lost her home 2 years ago when her owner lost their home. She has been in our care and waiting for her chance at a home of her very own again since then. As an older gal that has waited a long time to find love it is sometimes hard to keep the faith but she is so full of love we know her forever people are out there. She loves her people and loves resting her head on you for attention. She is not shy about giving you a nudge with her big ole head if she thinks she deserves extra pets or belly rubs, which of course she does! She enjoys her walks around the neighborhood. She lounges on the couch all day when her foster goes to work and does a happy dance when she comes home to greet her. She is housebroken and rides well in the car. If you would like to meet this lovable meatball we will be glad to arrange a meeting. She does need to be the only pet in the home but with this adorable low riding hippo what else could you want? Thank you for your interest in Choc! Story
We named her Promise because we had no more room on the transport to bring her and we told her that we would come back for her. We kept our word - and we are so glad we did. She had puppies at some point before she was dumped at the poor rural shelter, but she did not come with any of her puppies. This alone must have been awful for her to be separated from her pups. She was very shut down when we got her but now that she is in a foster home she is coming out of her shell and wants to play with the fosters other dogs. And she plays like a boxer which is so cute! Her foster mom says of Promise that 'she is super cute and friendly and just wants to be around me and my son.' She has very good house manners, ,does not chew, is great in a crate and is house broken. We listed older children because she seems scared of small children. We have told Promise that life will be very different from this point on she will have a home with someone who will love her and be kind to her. This is another promise we have made to this sweet dog. If you are interested in Promise, and helping us keep our promises to her, please let us know. Thank you for your interest in Promise! Story
Anyone with a cute name like Barney must be fun and fabulous right? Like Barney Fife, the hilarious Deputy Sheriff on the Andy Griffith show, or Barney Rubble, Fred Flintstone's, jovial neighbor and friend. And, let's not forget Barney, the fun-loving purple dinosaur! Like these fictional characters, I am a jolly and entertaining fella and I adore adults, kids, and other dogs. But no fiction here I am the real deal! I have significant scarring that runs the length of my back suggesting that I likely endured some type of unspeakable trauma in the past. Thankfully, this has not diminished my spirit and I continue to be happy, energetic, and loving. Now I am so excited at the prospect of meeting an active family with whom I can make many wonderful memories yabba-dabba-doo! Thank you for your interest in Barney!
