Story
Bruce is a pure bred Boston Terrier. He weighs about 15 lbs. He is an adult dog 8 years going on 9 years. For a long time Bruce had been with only one other dog (an older Yorkie, who passed away almost 2 years ago) and his dad/owner as a family unit. More recently he moved across the country to the east coast and has had to adjust to a life with a small toddler and a small chihuahua. He had some conflict with the toddler including nipping him above the nose as a warning. For this reason, unfortunately, Bruce will need a new home. He is very loyal. He likes to eat treats, go for walks, lay in the sun, and also naps on his bed or on the couch. He does well with other dogs once he gets to know them but may take some adjustment.

Story
We adopted Trooper from our neighbor in July, 2025. After dog-sitting numerous times for Trooper, we (and our first dog) got to like him a lot. Trooper is a “gentle giant” that often keeps to himself. He does like to chase birds, squirrels, any animal really, which has proven problematic in our backyard that abuts wooded areas. Our busy work schedules and our children’s increasing social and extracurricular commitments have proven to take our time away from Trooper. He needs more time, attention, and care than we can give to him.

Story
Meet Jax, a 12-year-old, 40 lb sweetheart with a heart full of love. He's incredibly affectionate and forms deep bonds with his people. Jax is house-trained, knows basic commands, and is brilliantly food motivated—eager to learn new tricks for treats! He's a well-behaved companion who thrives on routine. However, Jax struggles with high anxiety in loud, unfamiliar environments and around people he doesn’t know. He becomes overwhelmed easily and, when overstressed, may snap if touched unexpectedly. For this reason, his ideal home is a calm, quiet, adult-only household with no young children. He needs a patient family who will read his body language and give him space when he needs it. Jax could peacefully coexist with a gentle, calm dog his size or smaller. In the right low-stress environment, this intelligent, food-loving senior boy will be your most loyal and loving friend, ready to spend his golden years showering you with affection.

Story
Meet Boomer. This handsome bully boy  showed up on a family’s doorstep one winter evening, alone, with no collar, an injured ear, and clearly in need of care. The kind family took him in and brought him to the vet the next morning to check for a microchip and treat his ear. Despite their efforts to find his owner, no one came forward. The family has been fostering him for the past few months, and he has proven himself to be a resilient, sweet, and loyal companion, as well as a good friend to their family dog. Introductions were done slowly, and the two pups have become friends, enjoying walks and downtime together. Boomer is a strong, confident, and affectionate boy whose sweet personality has emerged as he’s settled into home life. He loves head and belly rubs, enjoys curling up on blankets or pillows, and is happy to relax near his people after a walk. While he may look like a bit of a tank at first glance, his foster family quickly discovered what a gentle and loving boy he truly is. He has great house manners and is fully potty trained. Boomer is comfortable with a crate, often choosing to rest there on his own. He has earned free roam privileges in his foster home and sleeps well through the night. He’s also a quiet dog who rarely barks, though you may hear his signature snore when he’s fully relaxed. Boomer enjoys his daily walks and does best with regular exercise. A trainer has worked with him on leash skills, and he has made good progress, though he can still pull at times and will benefit from continued training and structure. He’s a strong boy, so a confident handler will help him continue to improve. Overall, he’s a social pup who is friendly and interested in people, greeting visitors with enthusiasm. He can get excited and may jump up, but he responds well to redirection. He has not shown much interest in toys yet, and play is still a work in progress, but he clearly enjoys being active and engaged. Boomer has come a long way from the night he appeared looking for help. He’s now healthy, neutered, microchipped, and ready for a fresh start. This handsome boy is looking for a home that will provide structure, patience, and love, and in return, he’ll be a devoted companion. Apply today! Story
Meet Gypsy  Gypsy is a pretty Lab mix who is looking for a stable forever home after spending her entire life with one family. She was surrendered to the rescue when her owner became ill and could no longer care for her. A family friend reached out to her foster mom, Janet, for help. Gypsy is fortunate to have been loved her whole life as a family dog and has lived in a home environment since she was a small puppy. Now a budding senior, Gypsy is a moderate-energy dog who enjoys running and playing with younger dogs, but she’s equally happy settling down and relaxing afterward. She loves other dogs of all sizes, though she has always lived as an only dog, so she would likely do well either with canine companions or soaking up all the attention herself. She has also done well around cats. Gypsy can be a little aloof when you first meet her and may shy away from sudden movements, but once she feels comfortable, she’s very affectionate and enjoys being around her people. She’s great with visitors and genuinely enjoys making new friends. She has done well with children ages 8 and older, but we've not seen her with younger kids. She is potty trained, crate trained, and has very good house manners overall. On leash, Gypsy can pull and is a strong dog, so she would benefit from continued leash work and a capable handler. Janet shared that Gypsy has been a wonderful houseguest who settled in quickly... “She’s really easy and loves everyone. She talks to you when she wants something, which is funny. I’ve noticed that Gypsy likes to keep an eye on her surroundings and will happily “guard the perimeter” of the yard like a devoted protector.” Gypsy is the kind of dog who bonds deeply with her family and will be a loving, loyal companion for someone willing to give her the stability and loving home she deserves. Story
Meet Shaggy, one of the Scooby Doo pups! Velma and her three puppies - Fred, Shaggy, and Scrappy Doo - were found abandoned on Kelly Mountain in Logan County, WV, by a group of hunters, far from any nearby homes. When the hunters stopped, the dogs immediately approached them, friendly and social, which leads us to believe they once had a home and were intentionally left behind. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan stepped in and took the little family into her home until rescue help could be secured. Because of her compassion and quick action, Velma and her pups are now safe and settling into their local foster homes. Shaggy is being fostered with his brother, Scrappy, in a busy household with his foster mom and dad, two kids, two adult dogs, and even regular toddler visitors. It’s an ideal socialization environment for a young puppy. As a result, he is a happy, confident, well-adjusted boy who loves to be held and wants to be part of the action. Shaggy is crate-trained, sleeps through the night without accidents, and is making steady progress with his house manners. He has officially graduated to “big-boy” leash walks and is learning not to pull. He improves every day with practice. Much of Shaggy's early puppy training was started by his fabulous foster mom, Diana, who shared this update: Shaggy, the largest puppy of the litter, is very social and loves to play. This sweet boy will do best in an active home with a pup playmate to keep him entertained. He's been around large dogs and young kids, too, and does well with all. Shaggy is more confident than his brothers and tends to take the lead on walks. He’s shown great improvement on leash and recently started going potty on leash. He even sat by the door and barked to let his foster dad know he needed to go out this week. Smart boy! If you have a puppy-friendly schedule and are looking for a well-started, well-socialized pup…Apply today!  Open to foster-to-adopt for the right family fit.
