Hi! My name is Joey and I am available for adoption.I was brought in by a good Samaritan on 04/13/24.I weigh 20.5 lbs and am considered a small breed dog.I am a very smart dog! At the shelter I am practicing how to `sit`, `stay`, and `down` .I am an affectionate lovebug who would be thrilled to cuddle up with you at home!Because of my shy nature, I would do best in a calm, quiet home.My caregivers have observed that I might not get along with other dogs. I may do best as the only dog in my new home, or I may need a very slow introduction to other dogs.I am still a young dog! I will need to find a home where someone is available for me in these early days. It is important to be consistent with me and socialize me so I can have the best companionship with people and other animals. All young dogs require patience because everything is brand new so I will need some TLC while I learn. If you and your family are ready to fall in love my awesome self, please check me out!!My personality color is BLUE. I am a gentle and loving dog who likes to take things slow. That typical puppy that just loves living life. Exploring this big ole world and playing are 2 of my favoritest things with snuggles and eating coming in a close 2nd. I will need to have continued house training. I'm almost there but still need a little more training. I'm a pretty smart lil cookie (it must be so cuz my foster mom tells all the time) and should have the hang of it in no time at all. Welcome Stevie to CCPAL Rescue. He is a 16- month old Pughuahua is our best guess. He is a small dog at 15 pounds. He has a great appetite and isn’t picky on his food. He currently eats in his crate. He is very puppylike and playful. He loves the small dog tennis balls. He likes all toys and will take the fluff out of them if he can. He is good in a crate and currently best friends with a small female playful dog in his foster home. He likes to run and play. He is crate trained and, on a schedule, will do all business outside. He is learning the doggy door. He does respond to the word “no” and stops what he is doing when you say it. He is good in a car and now good on a leash. He is friendly with dogs after he meets them. He would prefer a family of small dogs or no dogs would also be fine. When he goes outside to do his business, he does like his family to stay out there while he does his business. He will not go in his crate and will bark when he needs to go while in his crate. He was found as a stray on the streets of San Antonio. He was picked up by a good Samaritan after her day’s work. She saw him before work and after work he was still there so she took him home. He is now in a CCPAL foster home getting his training so he will be ready for his new forever home. He is not a big shedding dog, has an adorable underbite and a very cute curly tail. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally. We can also work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Caost. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Cujo has been an awesome dog, it saddens me deeply to be writing this because of how good of a boy he has been. I got him in 2016 he was around 1 year old. He was found by my friend on the side of the road. I take him for a walk or to play almost every day. He has had a good life. He is happy doing whatever his person is doing. He likes to be active or just sit on the couch with you all day long. He is a very low maintenance dog. Doesn't require grooming trips or vet visits. His teeth are in excellent shape. I have lived in an apartment with him before. He is house trained; No accidents that I can remember! He is not yappy but will bark rarely. The only reason I am looking for a new home for him is because I recently had my first born son and my son is 11 months and getting mobile . My son wants to play with Cujo but Cujo doesn't know that he is coming to play and gets scared and can growl, he has never bit anyone but it worries us. Cujo does great with adults and loves attention.
