Story
This is Nikki, a beautiful 7 year old greyhound/shepherd mix. She came one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet so long as you are a human! This girl loves people and demands almost nothing in return. Her previous owner passed away and Nikki needs someone to love her as much as she will love you. Nikki is the ultimate companion and wants to be with people all of the time.  She is happy going for a walk and also laying on the couch. She does get sad when her people leave home, and has separation anxiety. She has been at a positive reinforcement board and train, working closely with a trainer so she can understand that a large, comfy crate can be a safe place when her humans aren’t home. She is making progress, but is still not a fan of the crate. Additional training will be provided at no cost to help Nikki make a happy transition to her new home. She knows her basic commands and walks well on a Gentle Leader head collar. Nikki will benefit from daily walks, but is not particularly high energy.  She likes to hang out with her people and sometimes play with plushie toys. She will do best with someone who is home a lot that wants a constant companion. Nikki should be an only pet, no other dogs or cats. She has shown aggression toward small dogs in the recent past, so a home with no furry temptations is a must. Nikki has been at a positive reinforcement board and train facility for many months, and is ready to find a foster home. If you are interested in providing Nikki a soft place to land, please complete our foster application which can be found on our website: www.roversretreat.org

Story
Please meet Liam who made his way all the way from Mexico to live the good life here in America! Liam is approx 2 years old and weighs about 65 pounds. He is a distemper survivor which means while living on the streets he survived the deadly distemper disease. He has a slight bob of his head from this but it doesn't affect his day to day living. Liam is a strong boy who will need an owner who will be able to control him on walks as he is strong and can be reactive to people and other dogs while walking. His foster is also working with him on his barking and he is significantly improving daily! Liam is house trained and has not had an accident in his foster home and sleeps through the night without any issues. He is enjoys his walks and is currently getting 3+ miles a day! He would make a great companion for someone who loves to hike and go on adventures! Liam loves people and enjoys being as close to his foster family as he can. He is still learning how to socialize with other dogs and will need a family who will be willing to slowly socialize him. Liam would do well in a home with another calm dog who will respect his space and let him warm up. There is no doubt that Liam will make an excellent companion for the right person or family! If you are active, have the patience to give Liam the time and training he needs Liam could be the one for you! If you are interested in Liam, please head over to our website www.roversretreat.org to fill out an adoption application. Please note: Liam is being fostered in Van Nuys, CA and his adoption fee is $400.

Story
Meet Boday, an adorable senior boy who was found as a stray by one of our amazing vet techs. After finding out his previous owner didn’t want him back, she asked if we could help…which of course we did! We don’t know how old he really is, but we’re guessing somewhere between 12-13 is about right. Boday’s a very sweet, calm boy who loves his walks. He’s easy going and likes to chill out most of the day, and would love a home with a yard so he has easy access outdoors. He does have some back pain, so a home where he doesn’t have to go up and down a lot of stairs would be beneficial. He loves to snuggle up & nap or watch TV with you all day. If you’re looking for a sweet senior pup to be your buddy, Boday might be your boy! If you’re interested in learning more about him, email nancy@roversretreat.org and fill out our adoption application at www.roversretreat.org Boday’s adoption fee is $300

Story
Please meet Pepper who came to us from Bakersfield Animal Care Center where she was dumped with her sibling and mom. Pepper has been in foster care for the past several weeks and is now ready and eager for her forever home. Pepper's ideal home is with another playful young dog as once Pepper warms up to you she is ALL play. Her foster mom takes her to doggy daycare weekly and that is absolutely her happy place. She thrives with the companionship of other dogs and therefore must have at least 1 other young dog in her forever home. Pepper is initially unsure of people, new situations and sounds so it will be very important for her forever family to understand her timid personality initially and that It will take her time to warm up. Once she does, she is a complete love bug. Pepper's forever home should have a secure yard, or she would be just as content in an apartment with a family who will give her plenty of opportunities for exercise and walks. If you are interested in making Pepper a forever member of your family please head over to our website www.roversretreat.org to fill out our adoption application. Please note: Pepper is being fostered in Culver City and her adoption fee is $500.

Story
Emerson is an extremely intelligent, fun 5 month old puppy who is ready for his forever home. Emerson's ideal family is active, patient and dedicated. Emerson is a mix of very high energy breeds and he would benefit from a lot of exercise and mental stimulation to help keep his puppy body and brain fueled. Emerson is still working on his potty training and will need a family committed to being patient and understand as he continues to learn the proper place to go. Emerson loves other dogs and would benefit from having a fur sibling in his forever home although this is not required. Plenty of opportunities to socialize with other dogs will be key to Emerson growing up to be a well balanced dog. If you are interested in Emerson, please head over to our website www.roversretreat.org to fill out our adoption application.
