Story
Rain is a rare thing here in Southern California, and somehow it was during a storm that this unforgettable little guy made his entrance into the world of people who would finally help him. One rainy evening, a woman heard strange noises outside her home. When she went to investigate, she found Zoboomafoo standing there in the downpour, missing most of his fur except for the long tufts on his ears, his skin covered in painful scabs and lesions. She knew immediately he needed help.Believing he was a pug, she searched for pug rescues, found us, and drove through the pouring rain to bring him to safety. When Zoboomafoo arrived, we were heartbroken by his condition but also completely taken by how unique and special he is. It was clear he had been neglected for a long time before finding his way to us. Based on his appearance and background, we believe Zoboomafoo is likely a “fluffy Frenchie,” a designer mix often produced through irresponsible breeding, which can unfortunately lead to serious medical issues like the ones he has endured.Once in our care, Zoboomafoo finally began receiving the treatment he so desperately needed. His cracked, itchy skin and bleeding sores have improved significantly, and while we cannot guarantee that all of his fur will grow back, his skin is softer, healthier, and far more comfortable now. He does still have some lumps and bumps, but they are not painful, and with continued care, he is expected to keep improving. Zoboomafoo will need an adopter who is comfortable staying on top of ongoing medical and grooming needs, including regular medicated baths for the foreseeable future.Zoboomafoo is estimated to be around 5.5 years old and weighs about 18 pounds. What he lacks in fur, he more than makes up for in personality. He is completely devoted to his people and absolutely thrives on human attention. If he had his way, he would be the center of your universe and honestly… he deserves it. Because of this, he may do best as the only dog in the home, though he does enjoy playing with other dogs. He has a tendency to become possessive over his people out of deep attachment and a desire to feel secure. Zoboomafoo loves to play, especially chasing toys, but his true passion is cuddling. Walks are not his favorite activity, but curling up next to his favorite person absolutely is. After everything he has been through, he is clearly soaking up every ounce of love he can get. His ideal home would be with someone who has experience with medical dogs or is willing to learn, someone who understands that caring for him is part of loving him. In return, Zoboomafoo will give unwavering devotion, endless snuggles, and the kind of bond that only comes from truly saving a life. He is rare, he is special, and he is ready for a home that will love him exactly as he is. Could that be you? Please inquire today!

Story
Shelbi came to our rescue from Arizona. The rescue in Arizona goes onto the Apache reservation to help dogs. Shelbi was 1 year old and her young life being possible hit by a car that left her rear legs paralyzed. The vet did not recommend euthanasia , she said all Shelbi needed was a wheelchair and she would be fine. Shelbi was fortunate to be taken to a very kind vet who kept her at the clinic until they could find a special need rescue. Since our specialty is paralyzed animals they asked if we could take her into our rescue. We said yes. A plan was in process to deliver her to California. She was a couple months at the vet healing and waiting for a rescue. She started acting strange. Turns out she was pregnant. She had a emergency C-section. She gave birth to 2 puppies which the staff members adopted. Now there was a 6 week delay. During that time she started to stand. When transport was found Shelbi was wobbly but no one expected what was to happen next. When she arrived we took her to our vet for more x rays Our vet said her bones were healing. For the next 6 months she started walking wobbly but walking. Everyday she got stronger and today she runs and does her happy dog walk. She is normal like any happy dog. She has the easy go lucky personality of a husky and the keen eye and sharp mind of a border collie/aussie. Unfortunately she has a strong prey drive for cats so she cannot live with cats. This girl is so beautiful with her flowing shiny coat.

Story
This sweet girl, estimated to be about 2 years old and weighing in at 20 pounds, has had a rough start to life, but she’s ready to turn the page and find her forever home. When she first came to us as a stray, she was in pain from a full vaginal prolapse that had likely troubled her for quite some time. Thankfully, she received treatment, and now she’s healed, healthy, and ready to enjoy life to the fullest! While we don’t know all the details of her past, it’s clear she hasn’t always had the easiest time with humans. Cantaloupe can be a little shy and anxious around new people, but once she realizes she’s safe, she shows just how loving and loyal she can be. She’s looking for a patient, gentle owner who will give her the space to decompress and shower her with the affection she’s been missing. At only two years old, Cantaloupe has her whole life ahead of her, and she’s ready to make it full of play, cuddles, and adventures. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, enjoys playtime and socializing, and is happiest when she can join in the fun. With her human friends, she just needs a little time to warm up, but once she trusts you, you’ll have a devoted new BFF who loves to snuggle and hang out by your side.Cantaloupe would thrive in a quiet, loving home where she can feel safe and cherished. She’s sweet, resilient, and ready to bloom into the happy, carefree, spunky girl she was always meant to be. Could your home be the place where Cantaloupe finally feels safe, loved, and at peace? Please inquire today!
