MEET STYMIE! He’s a 6-ish year old mellow guy who we first met more than a year ago doing street outreach. STYMIE didn’t have a specific owner but lots of people took care of him and other dogs he hung out with. STYMIE ended up at Downey Shelter where we rescued him in early August and brought him to our kennel. STYMIE is easy-going with a playful side. He has a weekend foster who has taken him on shopping adventures, to Barbie parties, and lots of car rides. He would do great with an experienced dog owner who can provide structure and leadership. Stymie wants to listen and learn! STYMIE weighs about 65lbs and is neutered, vaccinated, crate-trained, and microchipped. MEET LAILA! Look up ageless in the dictionary and you might just find a picture of LAILA. Laila is a stunning 13 years young beauty who doesn't seem to know she's a senior. This vivacious lady loves hiking, long walks (multiple times a day if you'll oblige), and running zoomies between head scratches, sunbathing, and perching on her fort. Her zest for an adventurist life knows no bound! Laila can be touch sensitive but beneath that wild child exterior, she just wants to be loved and pampered like the queen she is. She was rescued from South LA shelter back in 2018 and has celebrated multiple New Years, Valentine's, Halloweens, Thanksgivings, and Christmases with us. We're hoping this is the year she lands herself an adoring family and warm home to call her own. Laila is house-trained and crate-trained. We recommend a home without other pets and she would do best with older children (high school age or older). Meet FRANCO, a 2yo shepherd/malinois mix. We rescued FRANCO from the Downey shelter where he had shown up with a broken leg. He's long since healed up and he's looking for a forever home with someone who ideally has "shepherd and/or working dog" experience. FRANCO is a young, athletic dog who responds well to a confident leader. He is very loving, attentive, and loyal. He likes long walks, jogs, and he LOVES playing in water. Hi. Meet 13 year old CORNBREAD who we think is a pit mix with a Treeing Walker Coonhound. He was dumped on the side of the road and taken to the local shelter where we rescued him. This old guy was in pretty rough shape when he first came to us, but he's been thriving at our kennel is looking for a place to call home. Cornbread is sight-impaired, but he is still alert, VERY affectionate, and likes the company of other mellow dogs. He enjoys car rides, trips to the pet store and loves getting pets from people. Hello, my name is RAH RAH and I am a young 9 month old girl with a curious and playful spirit! I came from someone who had too many dogs and ended up with the nice people at Downtown Dog Rescue. I think I look like a whippet/pit mix and will weigh about 40 lbs when i'm full grown. I am still just a youngster and would love to be in a home with a family who can provide me with the patience, love, and care that I need as I grow and learn.
