Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Larry is the sweetest boy! He was a favorite at the Palmdale shelter. We do not normally take happy-go-lucky dogs, but something about Larry reached out and tugged at our hearts, so he became a Shamrock. He can be a little shy at first, but that doesn't stop him from giving sweet kisses, and he warms up pretty quickly once he knows you're a friend. He is young, so can be a little rambunctious and would do best in a home with kids 8 and older. We aren't sure how he does with other dogs but will update when we find out. We can't say enough wonderful things about Larry. He's just a great, great dog.  We are told that Larry can jump fences, so he must have a yard with high, secure walls and no ability to get over them (such as furniture piled or placed near a wall, rock formations he could climb near a wall, etc.). We do a home check so we can help with determining whether there is any concern in your yard. We also believe that if given the proper attention and love, Larry won't feel the need to do any jumping. He was likely an outdoor dog in his previous life, and, being bored, took it upon himself to find a more interesting venue to explore. That's likely how he ended up at the shelter.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 12, 2024, 12:09 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. When we met Jager, he was a hefty 25 pounds -- ridiculously overweight. It took awhile for him to slim down, but he's now a svelte 12 pounds. He's happier, much healthier, and way more active than he was originally. We got Jager when one of the vets with whom we work contacted us and said his owners had brought him to the vet clinic and asked that he be euthanized. They contended he was nippy and said they no longer wanted him.  Maybe the reason for that was that, in addition to being in pain from carrying double the weight he should have been, he had Cushing's disease, which causes the adrenal glands to produce too much of a certain hormone, usually cortisol. This can cause a dog to be hyperalert and uncomfortable, certainly something that could cause nippiness. Jager has been on medication for Cushing's for a while now, and he's a different dog. He loves to hang out with people and other dogs, and there's not a mean bone in his body. While he will have to take his medication for the rest of his life, it's worth it because he's such a happy little guy. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 12, 2024, 12:09 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bubba Bear came to Shamrock Rescue after we saw a post saying he would be euthanized if a home couldn't be found. This sweet boy's mouth was a mess. He had to have 17 teeth pulled. Yes, 17. He also had a respiratory infection. That's all cleared up, his mouth is healed, and he's doing so much better. He does have a collapsed trachea, which means he needs to stay calm and will occasionally need cough medicine. but other than that, he's a healthy boy. We were told he's a Peke, but we think he's a mix, maybe with a Pomeranian -- a great combo, we've found from experience. Whatever he is, he is CUTE! He's overweight, but we're working on slimming him down. He is a DOLL. Whoever adopts this boy will have a wonderful companion who is happy, silly and loving. He's learning to walk on a leash and gets along well with most dogs.  He much prefers to have the company of others around him and follows his foster mom wherever she will let him. He's content to eat by himself, but once he's finished, he wants to be with her. He needs a home where people are there most of the time -- someone who's retired or works from home would be ideal. We promise, whoever brings Bubba Bear into their home will be very happy with the adorable little guy!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 12, 2024, 12:09 am

Story
Our rescue received a call about 11 one month old puppies that had been dumped in an abandoned building and were malnourished, dehydrated, and in poor conditions. These babies were taking in and immediately given proper nutrition including formula and vet care. The person who dumped these poor babies also cut their tails. Not entirely sure what they did that for as our best guess is these puppies are lab mixes maybe with Aussie. However they are thriving!! Super playful and happy babies. Looking for sweet loving family homes for these precious babes! Ready to go in about 2-3 weeks. Will go home with spay/neuter contract.
