Story
Meatball (aka Meaty, Meaty B.) came to rescue with a history that left her a little unsure of the world—but never unsure about people. From the moment she arrived, she showed us exactly who she is: a gentle, thoughtful bulldog who prefers to observe first, then join in once she feels safe.
Over the weeks in her foster home, Meatball has been quietly blossoming. She’s gaining confidence with the other dogs, choosing to engage more in play, and showing her foster that she’s braver than she first appeared. She still loves her quiet corners—whether that’s a cozy spot outside or a tucked‑away nook indoors—but now she also trots over to join the group when she feels like it. She’s independent, but not aloof; she simply enjoys life at her own pace.
Meatball is not aggressive, but she will defend herself if pushed. She and her foster’s dog Cleo mostly coexist peacefully, and Meatball has learned to navigate dog interactions with growing ease. She and Marinara have a bond, but it’s a flexible one—they can be placed together in a home that understands how to supervise them when they get a little “spicy,” or they can be adopted separately. Meatball is perfectly capable of thriving as an only dog.
She’s also a bulldog with quirks—endearing ones and honest ones.
She loves to chew, and if given the chance she’ll sample furniture, shoes, or anything interesting.
She’s working on housebreaking, and while she’s improving, she still occasionally seeks out a quiet indoor spot to poop.
She marks, especially on soft surfaces, so she currently doesn’t have couch privileges.
She is excellent in a crate—comfortable, relaxed, and often chooses it on her own.
But her best qualities shine brightest:
She is sweet, affectionate, and loves lap time.
She melts for butt scratches.
She is calm, thoughtful, and incredibly easy to love.
She has responded beautifully to her new diet and is feeling better physically.
Meatball is the kind of bulldog who doesn’t demand attention—she earns it. She’s the quiet companion who pads over to sit beside you, the gentle soul who appreciates a soft voice and a predictable routine, and the dog who will reward patience with deep, loyal affection.
Meatball is ready for her next chapter.
