Story
BASICS: – Female – 2.5 years old – 45ish pounds – Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped – Potty trained, crate trained – Dog friendly, cat friendly – No young kids PERSONALITY: Linda is very shy and timid at first, and needs someone with patience as she integrates into her new home/people/etc. She is avoidant of strangers and needs time to warm up. Once warmed up, Linda is very calm, happy-go-lucky, affectionate, and easy. IDEAL HOME: She would do best having a woman in the home. Men are totally fine too, and Linda even calmly seeks them out for affection too once she warms up, but she thrives off of and leans off of having a woman in the home. DOGS: Lives in foster with other dogs. She does good with both small and big dogs. CATS: Lives in foster with cats. She started off just peacefully coexisting and tolerating the cats, but has evolved to having cat friends. Her foster says her cats actually like Linda more than the resident dogs now after a couple months in foster. KIDS: Linda does not appreciate young children and is not a match for a home with them. TRAINING: Potty trained. Crate trained (continuing crating will be recommended – it is her safe space and she appreciates putting herself up in it at times where she needs a social break). Does not pull on a leash (though is kinda jumpy the whole time- going back to her skittish-ness). BACKSTORY: Linda accidentally escaped from her owner this summer. She proved to be quite the evasive one and took nearly a month to recapture. After capture, convos with her owner revealed they did not think Linda was happy with them nor did they feel best equipped to manage medical rehab (Linda was injured while on the run and needed surgery). Linda was surrendered to us to follow and has recovered from hip surgery (FHO). Linda is a FLIGHT RISK. It is extremely unlikely that Linda could be caught again if she escaped, so adopters must be prepared to take an abundance of caution to keep her safe and secure. LOCATION: Currently in foster in Atlanta, GA. AVAILABILITY: Available for adoption or foster-to-adopt (FTA). FTA is a two week, commitment free and pressure free, trial run to make sure things are a match before sealing the deal. Story
Who is looking for a four legged life partner? Basics: -- 2 years old -- 60 pounds -- Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative -- Top notch cuddle snuggle bug -- Higher energy. Would love active adopter or fenced yard -- Needs to be only pet in home --Shy at first, but forever loyal once you are one of her people Need a buddy for walks, jogs, hikes? Samantha is down. Need a smile and chuckle watching the goofiest and happiest zoomies in the yard? Samantha’s gotchu. Zoomie all star. Need a supervisor for your weekend yard work or gardening plans? Samantha at your service. Bug, lizard, and frog hunting included for free. Also known pro at water hose management. Need someone to give finish those last few bites on your plate and vacuum up the crumbs as you cook? Samantha has trained for this moment. Need company winding down with Netflix at the end of the day and filling an empty spot on the bed? Samantha is 10/10 ready to snuggle. Need a creature full of so much innocence, love, and gratitude for you who looks at you as you are the most important and best thing in the world, and would be happy to do anything in life so long as they can do it with you? Samantha is waiting for you. 6 months ago, Samantha was left abandoned tied to a shipping container without food, water, or shelter. Reports verified she had been out there for at least 24+ hours, but signs pointed she had been stuck out there even longer than that. She vomited and defecated trash for over a week after rescue. Candy wrappers, sauce packets, she was eating anything she could reach on the tether in upmost desperation. She gut-wrenchingly cried and whined in pure panic and fear. Her neck told a story of struggle, a bald impression left from trying so desperately to get away from tether tying her to the container. She was also in heat, left tied in an area with so many roaming strays. But Samantha is forgiving. Samantha holds no grudges towards humans, rather looks to them with endless hope to receive love. Samantha will be someone’s very best friend and looked back as one of the best decisions they ever made in life AVAILABILITY: Available for adoption or foster-to-adopt (FTA). Story
Brooke and Sara are two very bonded girls who are looking for a home together. They MUST be near each other for them to live their lives to the fullest. After being found in two different locations as strays within a few days of each other we felt certain they would know each other, and they did. The reunion was so heartwarming to see the love they have for each other. Sara is the mom to Brooke. Sara is around 5 years old and Brooke was estimated to be almost 2 years old. If you are a Great Dane lover than you know the amount of love these two could give you. Both girls are in foster care together with one of our amazing fosters. House and crate trained, kid friendly, dog friendly, a fenced in yard is preferred since they enjoy running and playing. They continue to learn new skills and manners each day along with building trust again with humans.  If you are interested in two GIANT lovebugs, then Brooke and Sara are for you. Story
Mary & Moe are looking for their SPECIAL SITUATION, PATIENT, BONDED PAIR Adopter Prior to being rescued, Mary and Moe lived in the woods with their homeless owner. One day their owner was able to get help and leave shortly before a freeze, but must not have been able to bring their dogs as they remained. Mary was adopted a couple months ago but later returned as we discovered how bonded the two actually were, and how unhappy Mary was without Moe. DNA tests later revealed Mary and Moe are brother and sister. They are also— — Around 2 years old — 10 pounds (Mary) and 13 pounds (Moe) — Spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped — In foster with other dogs ranging up to 25lbs — Potty trained + pee pad trained — Good car riders — No children — FLIGHT RISKS Once you have her trust, Mary is a top notch snuggle bug and cuddler. She thrives off of affection. We won’t sugar coat it though: Mary is going to make you work for her trust. It may take 2 months for you to really see the Mary that her foster sees every day. Mary really needs someone who is going to be ok with that, taking things slow with her, giving her time, and working on her time. She won’t be your best buddy lap gal overnight. When you finally earn that trust though, it will be worth every second. Moe is a certified food junkie and lover boy. An occasional streak of mischief and guaranteed heart stealer, this boy will have anyone head over heels. Mary and Moe would do best with someone who doesn’t work away from home e.g. 40-50+ hours a week. Even a hybrid work schedule would be beneficial for them. The duo is not crate trained currently. Moe could previously be crated, but Mary was a stressy mess in the crate, but Mary also panics with Moe in a crate and not her, but them crated together doesn’t resolve Mary’s crate anxiety either. Long story short — keeping Mary and Moe in a room gated off has been the best solution for the duo when you need to leave home. Disclosure: Shortly after Mary was rescued, someone Mary hadn’t had a chance to build trust with yet had to play ring around the rosey to catch her to put her back up. When they caught up with her and reached to grab her, Mary nipped in fear. This was very shortly after her capture and a bit understandable, but for sake of transparency and disclosure, we are sharing that history. So…. Do we have you sold yet? I know, it may sound like they need a unicorn adopter. Truthfully, they do. But they are worth it. Someone will love this special pair as much as their foster mama does, and have the honor of seeing the pair as the incredible loving duo they are. They will love you with every ounce of their being once you have their trust, and they are such a fun and loving pair once you have that trust. Mary and Moe will go as a foster-to-adopt trial first. This gives you a chance first to ensure Mary and Moe are a right match for you before adopting. We typically do 2 week foster to adopt trials, but we can do as long as even 4-6 weeks for these guys if you feel that time is needed. The goal is just to make sure Mary and Moe are the right match for a family and vice versus — before officially adopting. It is a pressure free, commitment free trial run. If you think Mary and Moe might be meant for you, please complete an adoption application (it’ll be foster-to-adopt) at joyspromise.org/adopt This special bonded pair is currently in foster in Fayetteville, GA. – Note: If you are interested in adopting, please COMPLETE AN APPLICATION THROUGH OUR WEBSITE.
