Story
Memorial: In Loving Memory- June 2023. Putt, Putt. This sweet boy finally lost his battle to live a quality life due to some major health issues.  He was a 16 plus-year-old cocker boy and a lifetime haven dog due to heart health issues and then some other medical needs came up that made his life miserable. We did everything we could to help him live but couldn't save him as he got weak and lost his battle to live. In his memory we ask that you consider making a donation to help care for the other rescue dogs still available and needing homes. Thank you for your kindness! Putnam, or Putt, Putt as we called him was a small, blonde 16 plus year old plus cocker boy. One New Year's Day, He was lost and wondering the roads until he was picked up as a stray in West Virginia by Animal Control. Because no owner showed up to claim him and he was older, the shelter asked for rescue help to get him updated on vet care and find him a good home. He was heartworm negative, kind of shy and just a real sweet guy that was pretty well house trained. He wasn't able to find his forever home because heart health issues came up that would not get better. He would have been a wonderful companion for someone to adopt and love but his heart issues continued to get worse and now there was nothing we could do to make it any better except keep him on meds. Recently, some other medical issues came up and we did what we could to save him but it wasn't meant to be and we had to say goodbye. Putt Put would greatly appreciate it if you could donate to this rescue to help with the care of all the cocker dogs now up for adoption or those in lifetime haven care like Honey. Please send your donation to CCR, P.O. Box 1050, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or by PayPal to larrydonnacarp@aol.com. Thank you for your kindness to help our rescue dogs. Donations Needed and Appreciated: This sweet cocker boy has come to rescue and needs a major dental with teeth removal. He is a senior, so he will need fluids and antibiotics. Please help CCR to pay his vet bills, we need to raise $300 to $400 dollars for his vet care.

No Out of State Adoptions Absolutely No Phone Calls -Please fill out an adoption application, send it back to us and we will review and return calls. Go to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save an application. Email it back to larrydonnacarp@aol.com to be approved. No Elderly Owners due to his bite history. He will do best with an owner 50 years old or younger. He is currently working with a trainer. He is an active dog but would be too much for a senior owner. Absolutely no children or grandkids. He must stay in or close by the local area so that he can continue his training. Meet JoJo, an active, handsome almost 6-year-old black n white Cavalier-Basset Hound mix. He was bought from a breeder. His owner was moving and turned him into a shelter where he was taken in by another rescue. He bit several of their people, and they didn't know how to deal with him, so he came to us. Every day we have worked with him, challenged him and corrected him to behave properly. We have not quit on him just because he has issues. He has been with us for 2 years and has made tremendous progress. His aggression is doable if you listen to our suggestions and what we have learned works for him to be a good dog. He needs a fenced yard and a calm adult only home with a good alpha owner willing to work with him. If you listen to us on what works best for him, he can be a good boy. A home with few visitors and limited distractions is a must. He can be crated temporarily. No children, no grandchildren and no senior owners due to his past. He doesn't do well with big dogs and cannot be in a home with Pitt Bulls. He is most comfortable with Cocker Spaniels and Corgi's. He is very selective with who he likes and will bond with you once he knows you. He can be a goofy guy, likes to play fetch, is a bit jealous at times and can be vocal at mealtimes. His adoption fee is $400

Please, No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this cute Cocker Spaniel boy, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Remy, a 4 1/2-year-old black n white, male Cocker Spaniel. He is friendly, playful and would love quality time with you. He came to rescue scared of men but would quickly warm up to women. He is an owner give up from a single mom with two children who had to give him up after she moved into her mom's house and was only allowed to keep him outside. They had adopted him as a pup. He can be with other young playful female dogs who would love to play as long as they don't try to dominate him. He doesn't seem to do well with male dogs in a household environment. Only minimal vetting had ever been done and no HW or flea/tick prevention was given. Bloodwork was done with many questionable levels and HW tested as positive. After his neuter/dental procedure was done it is normal procedure to re-do bloodwork before HW treatment. He tested this time as heart worm negative. He was adopted out shortly after, but it didn't work out, not his fault. When he came back to us, we re-tested and it once again showed heart worm positive, so we did treatment for him with a good recovery. He does have a slight heart murmur and is on medicine for dry eye. He would love to be your new best friend. He will be a good house dog and would love to be placed into a home with a young, playful, dog social female cocker who will not dominate him. A secure fenced yard is a must. He is a good boy and might just steal your heart. He is in one of our foster homes in Mooresville, NC. His adoption fee is $400.

Story
No Phone Calls please, if you are interested in adopting this very handsome Cocker boy, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Absolutely no other dogs; he must always be your only dog. He is currently in one of our foster homes where he is all by himself in Charlotte, NC. He will do best with a woman owner but could possibly be with a husband and wife where the man is patient and willing to work with him. Meet Finn, a 1-year-old neutered, black n tan Cocker Spaniel boy. He is looking for a new home where he can be the only dog. This very handsome boy has lost his home twice from dog attacks. With previous owner he was continuously bothering and humping their older male dog. And, he has food aggression, so she had to feed him separately to avoid fights. He is healthy, active, neutered, chipped, somewhat house broken and updated on vet care. He has lots of energy, is a good boy and loves to play and snuggle but does not like to share food, toys or humans. This said, he must be your only dog as he does not get along well with other dogs in a home. Our foster mom has learned that he does have some behavior issues probably from not being properly socialized when he was younger. He needs a lot of help with leash training, he has shown her that he has signs of being somewhat abused by an owner in his past before the lady who contacted us, and he needs a secure fenced yard to go outside to do his business. He is scared of many things, will cower and run and hide. Patience to help him deal with these issues will be a priority. Adoption Fee $500

No phone calls. If you are interested in adopting this red n white cocker boy, please go to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Fill it out and email it back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Prince, a neutered 2-year-old, red n white Cocker Spaniel boy. He was an abandoned dog taken in at a NC shelter. He was cleaned up, got a Rabies shot and a Bordetella and then got adopted out to a new home. A short time after, he was brought back to this shelter because it just didn't work out with a senior owner. He is a healthy, playful boy. He has been updated on all vet care and overall is a super friendly guy. He will need guidance and patience to adapt to a home environment where he can be well cared for and loved. He gets along best with Corgi's and Cockers his size but is not good with big dogs. We will not be placing him into any home with a senior owner as he did not do well when he was adopted out to an older couple, and they returned him. He can be in a home with older teen kids and a fenced yard is an absolute must. This boy is looking for his forever home where he can be happy, and his new family is willing to work with him to help him thrive. He is doing well with one of our foster families until he can be adopted to his perfect home. Adoption Fee $500

Finn is an awesome dog that loves other dogs and kids! He loves to run and play and loves to cuddle and will give you lots of kisses. He is crate, trained, and housebroken. He’s just not able to stay with us at our new home because of our landlord.
