She is a young adult with a good natured personality, which is likely what helped her survive her previous owner. Hazel lived in a "pay by the week" motel room in Southgate for almost a year. Story

Libby is a two-year-old Caucasian Shepherd that was found as a stray. She does have a permanent health condition that makes her Special Needs. We noticed right away that she has a strange gait and we were concerned, so she saw a specialist. The tests showed some undetermined neurological issues and arthritis, as well as dysplasia in all four limbs. This causes her to walk in a wobbly way. These things do not stop this determined, lovable girl ,though. She will &#194&#147run&#194&#148 around the yard and play with the kids, and chew on bones all day long. She is a very unique dog that will need a particular home to spend the rest of her life in. There are some specific requirements for her to safely walk aruond. Minimal stairs, and carpet or a lot of area rugs. The home will also need a gated yard with open access to the door, such as a sliding door, French doors, or a door that is not on a landing or down steps. Most importantly, she needs a home with all the love and kisses to give to her! Regular trips to the groomer Libby is great with kids and has been in her foster home for a few months with 9, 7, and 3 year old kids. She also is currently living with two other large breed dogs. She would likely do best in a home with non guardian breeds, and has not been around smaller dogs. She has only been around cats once that we know of, and she didn't seem like a huge fan of them. Libby is currently on an anti-inflammatory medication twice a day, potentially for the rest of her life, cost is around $60-$70 a month. She is a big girl and with that also comes lots of food. She eats about 7-8 cups of food a day, and the water bowl will always need refilling. Libby is just a big cuddly bear that needs all the love she can get. This very smart boy ended up in need of the shelter when he was found lost and alone. He had a microchip, but the owners hung up on our officer. Now that he has surpassed the legal hold of, he is officially unclaimed and available for adoption. Brutus calmly waits each morning to be taken out to the bathroom and to get time outside to stretch his legs. A fantastic Husky who likely ended up unclaimed for the same reason most do. Luna is a female 5 year old Border Collie/German Shepherd mix. I am looking to re-home her due to her recently biting members of my family. The incident was due to our child overstepping her boundaries. She has moderate anxiety, and is often nervous around new people. She is a loving and fun dog when she is comfortable. She is independent and very smart. She is a great dog for a single person or couple who do not have kids or other animals.

Story

Hi!  Thank you for clicking on my photo to read about me. My birthday is October 31, 2023.  Isn't it cool that I was born on Halloween?  I'm sure glad I wasn't given a spooky name...I like being Pete.  The vet says I'm a lab/pit mix and that when I'm all grown up, I should weigh 40-50 pounds.  I have fur like a lab and even have cute, webbed toes.  When I was just a tiny puppy, I was attacked by a big dog and hurt very badly.  I had a tear in my trachea and my cheek bone was broken.  I spent time at the ER vet before being transferred to a specialist to have surgery.  My foster mommy took really good care of me and kept me calm while I healed.  Do you know how hard it is for a puppy to stay calm???  I had to stay in a crate and wasn't allowed to play with the other dogs.  It was torture!  Those days are over now, and I can play with my big brothers all day long.  Well, we play really hard and then nap for a few hours.  There are more photos of me sleeping than of me getting into puppy trouble. My big brothers are 100lb labs. They've helped me forget all about that big dog that wasn't nice to me. When I was little, I liked to use them for pillows, but I can't get away with that anymore.  There is a 4 year old who comes over every day and I love her!  We play and then we cuddle. I don't have much experience with stuffed toys because one of the big dogs just destroys them.  We have lots of chew bones, and I like to pick up sticks in the yard.  I'm a good boy outside and don't get into nearly as much trouble as I did when I was little. When I have to go potty, I ring some bells hanging from the door.  I sleep in bed with my foster mommy and I sleep through the night most nights.  If I do have to go out, I go out, take care of business, then come right back in to bed.  Mommy is retired and home most of the time, but sometimes I have to go in a crate when she isn't home.  I don't like it very much at all and like to voice my opinion about it.  I'm getting better about it, but it's something we're still working on. I would love a fenced yard so I can run around and burn off energy.  Another dog to play with would be a definite bonus.  I'm not sure a home with tiny kids is best because of all my energy and strength as I grow, but my foster mommy wants what is best for me and she will make sure any new home is the perfect fit for everyone.  Please contact her right away if you'd like to talk about me.  **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age.
