Story
Ivy is a super-sweet 11-year-old girl who weighs 44 pounds. She’s pretty mellow but does have a spark of playfulness in her. Ivy adores stuffed toys, and she carries a stuffy around with her almost everywhere she goes. One of her favorite pastimes is climbing right into the toy bin and searching for the perfect toy to play with. She also enjoys leisurely walks and playing fetch. She loves snuggling on the couch with her people and having her back scratched - her sweet smile comes easily with a back scratch or back rub! Ivy seems to be drawn to men and eagerly waits for her foster dad to come home from work every day so she can spend some quality time with him. When it’s bedtime, Ivy is content to curl up in her dog bed, but she prefers to sleep at the foot of her foster parents’ bed. Luckily, she isn’t a bed hog and sleeps soundly through the night. She does have to be coaxed out of bed at 5:30 am to go outside, so you won’t be able to rely on her to wake you up for work! Ivy is looking for a home with no other pets as she doesn’t like to share the good things in life (food, toys, treats). She would do well in a family with older children who will respect her space and understand that she doesn’t like to share. Ivy is a well-behaved girl when she has the run of house when her foster family isn’t home. She tolerates being in a crate when she’s eating, but she isn’t a fan of being crated for any length of time and will bark to show her displeasure. She’s still working on housetraining, but she’s almost there. If you are looking for a laid-back, affectionate beagle girl, Ivy is the one! Story
Hello! My name is Timber and I am a 2 year old boy Beagle weighing in at 27lbs. I have been in my foster home for about a month now with my brother, Lumber and two Beagle foster sisters. I was a tiny bit shy at first but I love meeting new people now and will not hesitate to get some attention from anyone and everyone. I love my food and treats! I have learned to go to my “eating area” for my food and I take treats very gently. It took a little while for me to learn to sleep the whole night through in my crate but I really like my crate now and will go in it for naps on my own. I especially like the “good night treats”. When our foster mom has to run errands or work, she will put me in the crate with a treat. I like the TV on or music playing softly when I am in my crate. I love outdoors and toys! I empty the toy boxes daily and try to take all the toys outside to play with. I play well with my foster sisters and my brother but I don’t play well with the cat. I am still learning to respect things that are not mine like my foster parents’ shoes, gloves, charging cables, etc. I do very well with doing my business outside and I learned to ring bells on the door and go out through the doggie door in the mud room. I tested positive for Giardia and just finished my medicine. I will need another fecal test in 30 days. Otherwise, I am a smart, very active boy. I am still learning to walk on a leash nicely and my foster Mom thinks I would enjoy and do well going to classes for training because I like to be busy. She thinks I would do best with someone that is home a lot with me. Another dog would be a big plus too! I hope I find my forever home soon! Story
Dempsey is a 2 1/2 year old purebred GSD who has lived with his brother from the same litter all his life. He gets along well with his brother (who I need to rehome as well) but I’m not sure how well he will get along with other dogs. He has been raised with children (older) and gets along well with them as well and loves to play with toys and tennis balls. He knows how to sit for treats and will take them gently as well, when you remind him to. Looking for someone with experience with GSD’s who can give them the time, love, and attention they deserve.

Story
Stanley is a smart and confident beagle boy who originated as a stray at a rural animal shelter before he came to Midwest BREW. He is estimated to be 4-6 years old, and after spending several months undergoing treatment and recovery for heartworm disease, he is ready for a permanent family! Stanley is very scent driven (even for a beagle!) and requires a securely fenced yard to keep him from escaping on hunting adventures. Even inside of a fence, Stanley will take advantage of any small opening or soft spot where he can dig out, so he would be safest with supervision outdoors in the yard, and even better would be a privacy fence well buried below the ground. Indoors, Stanley is a sweet companion who likes to play with rope toys and spend time on the couch with his people. Stanley is very well crate trained but can also be loose in the house because he is very good about not getting into things that don’t belong to him. He does well with the other dogs in his foster home, but he is greatly interested in the smell of the cats and tends to pester them when he knows they are nearby, so a home without cats is recommended. Stanley is extremely smart and clever, and he loves to be entertained with food puzzle toys and chew bones. He catches on to new things very quickly and would do well in a positive reinforcement based training class If you are interested in adding handsome Stanley to your family, please contact Midwest BREW and we will answer any questions you may have. Story
Darby is a tricolor 2-year-old copper nosed little girl. She weighs about 20 lbs and is a really sweet cuddler. Darby is friendly to her foster sister beagle but doesn't play much with her as she prefers her humans! She hasn't been exposed to cats. Darby enjoys sniffing around the yard and going for walks. Walks are a new thing for her and we are still learning to go for long walks. She is very good on the leash until she decides she is done then she needs some coaxing to continue. Cuddles on the couch are a favorite for her. She loves her humans so much that her foster mama uses petting as a reward vs. food or treats. When first in the crate, Darby will cry for 5 minutes or so then settle in and sleep. We are still working on pottying on the leash. She is so busy sniffing that it takes a long time for her to potty! We have not had any accidents in the house. Darby would be fine with another dog in the house but may not be a playmate. She would probably love older respectful kids to wear her out or a family who is home a lot. She has a lot of love to give and will make you feel like the most important person in the world! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
