Story
**Courtesy Post** Huckie is not a Russell Rescue dog. Please contact his foster mom for more information at 616-359-6321 or safeharborvet4547@gmail.com ** Huckleberries (Huckie) in Wayland, Michigan: Do you love, love LOVE terrier energy? If so, meet Huckleberries (I call him Huckie). He’s an adorable, six and one half year old, scruffy, poofy, action packed, sweet but somewhat troubled Rough-Coated Jack Russel Terrier who is looking for his people. Like most JRT’s, Huckie is a WHOLE vibe packed into a 20 pound body shaped like a furry brick that looks like he always skips leg day. I took Huckie on as a foster project to give him a second chance at life. His mom sadly had to say goodbye as she is undergoing lengthy treatment for cancer and Huckie has some very specific needs. Huckie has made tremendous strides so it is time for him to find a family of his own who will love and cherish him despite (and hopefully even because of) his unique personality. Huckie CAN live with cats and other dogs. He tolerates them and will sometimes play but much prefers people. Huckie is NOT a good choice for small children. Older kids (14+) may be ok as long as they are capable of following long term direction/rules. Huckie was abused with a shock collar when he was younger, so he does have some trauma and issues that come along with that. I can help you understand what his triggers are and help you to help him continue to learn that the things he thinks are scary, really are OK. You must be willing and able to follow positive reinforcement training techniques. He does take a medication for anxiety (generic Clomipramine), one for allergies (well controlled - over the counter generic Cetirizine) and one for urinary leakage (completely controlled - Proin). I can get his adopters these medications at near cost. He could use a dental cleaning but is otherwise healthy, neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm preventative and ready to rock and roll! Huckie LOVES to go for walks and car rides. He is excellent in his crate! He is working on becoming 100% reliable with his housetraining with accidents becoming very infrequent and he always keeps his crate clean. He enjoys his version of “swimming” in our pond and has a splash pad that is his favorite. I am looking specifically for a home that understands terriers or other similar high drive, sensitive dogs and who will engage in positive reinforcement training. He loves snuggling, playing tug and knows how to sit, shake, down and spin. Please help save Huckie’s life! I can’t keep him forever. He needs YOU. He is a sweet, misunderstood, special boy with a huge heart. Please text Richelle Smith, DVM at 616-359-6321 if you are interested in this handsome boy or email at safeharborvet4547@gmail.com I am asking a small rehoming fee and a home visit and vet reference are required to adopt Huckie. Huckie is located in Wayland, Michigan and his adopter will need to travel to that area to get him.

Story
Meet 5 year old Bingo! He was adopted from the Humane Society as a puppy in March of 2021. He's a medium sized 55 lb long n' low cattle dog/corgi/ (etc etc) mix, he's housebroken and very smart. He's a quick learner, and a real sweetie. He's a mix of breeds, and definitely has got the typical Cattle dog mindset, he likes to herd and is NOT GOOD WITH CHILDREN. He's strong-willed and needs an Alpha owner/s to keep him in line. That being said, he's also a very sweet, affectionate boy! He loves to snuggle and play with toys and his family. Currently lives with cats, which he tolerates. He's never lived with other dogs. He'd do well with a childless couple or single person. He loves to run and fetch, he's very good on leash for walks, but the rest of the time is a total couch potato. He's very protective of his people and is an excellent guard dog. He LOVES the snow, summer not so much. We love him very much, but can't afford to keep him.

Story
Meet Lucy – Your New Best Friend! 🐾 Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier 🐾 Age: Around 2 years 🐾 Weight: 57lbs of pure muscle and love 🐾 Ready for Adoption: After July 30th (post-spay) Lucy may be petite, but don’t let her size fool you—this girl is rocking a perfect 12-pack and has the personality to match! She was rescued just in time after her foster mom spotted her dodging traffic on 8 Mile. Since then, she’s been living the good life and is ready to find her forever home. Lucy is a bubbly, social butterfly who goes to work every day at a security company, charming everyone from customers to office staff. She’s got a soft spot for the fellas. Like a big soft spot. As the honorary "temp office pooch," Lucy brings smiles wherever she goes. She’d thrive in a home with preteens and up—she’s gentle, playful, and loves to show off her tricks. Ask her to sit, or lay down (she knows them all), and don’t be surprised if she flops over for a belly rub or a good butt scratch. Tug-of-war is her absolute favorite game, especially with a longer rope, but she’s also happy squeaking toys or chasing after a ball. She walks well on a harness, is housebroken, and doesn’t need to be crated—she’s been a respectful houseguest in her foster home. She does have a high prey drive, so a house without cats is a must! Lucy hasn't had formal dog introductions yet, but she gets excited and happy when she sees other dogs. Due to her prey drive, she’ll need a cat-free home. She’s almost done with all her vetting—Lucy is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and will be spayed on July 30th. A few days after that, she’ll be ready to join her forever family. Could Lucy be your ride-or-die girl? If you're looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion with a heart of gold and muscles to match, Lucy is your girl. www.providingforpaws.org for an application
