Story
Meet Lorenzo 💙🐾Lorenzo is a 4-year-old neutered Yorkie mix who is ready for a fresh start and a quieter, more gentle chapter of life. He previously lived with dogs his size and did well, and since coming into our care he’s been learning what a leash is and how to walk on one—something that’s all very new to him. Each day, Lorenzo is taking small but meaningful steps as he builds confidence and learns to trust the world around him.Lorenzo is still very much finding his footing, and we haven’t yet seen his playful side—but we know it’s there, waiting for the right environment to help it shine. He would do best with a patient, understanding adopter who will let him move at his own pace and celebrate the little wins along the way. A home with another confident, friendly dog could be a wonderful influence and help him continue to grow. He does not have known history with cats or children. As a Yorkie mix, regular grooming will be required. Lorenzo came to us severely matted and had to be completely shaved down, so his future family should be prepared for ongoing grooming as his coat grows back to keep him comfortable and healthy. If you’re someone who believes in giving dogs the time they need to feel safe and loved, Lorenzo is ready to begin that journey with you.

Story
Buddy was adopted 10 years ago and was loved by a senior caretaker. She passed away and the home is now for sale. He has a joint issue called a luxating patellas and takes breaks when on walks. He can’t walk up a lot of stairs. He was supposed to have surgery but the family could not afford this when he was younger. Buddy is now 13 and a surgery would not be a good idea per the Detroit Animal Care and Control staff. I am desperate for any help you can provide even if it is a list of rescues that takes medical cases or specializes in senior dogs. Buddy does well with kids, cats and other dogs.
