Story
Meet Comet! Here is a bit about him, in his own words… or woofs… -I LOVE toys but not small ones, bones to chew and I get the zoomies all the time. -I’m very loving, I’m learning how to cuddle and love to lay on the couch with a bone. -I think I would like a doggy friend but also could be happy as an only dog. -I’ve been neutered and got a clean bill of health from the vet as well. -I would love someone who would work with me on learning better leash skills and manners training. Comet was a shelter pull at risk of euthanasia due to space and the time he had been there. We were able to get him full vaccinated, neutered, and even allergy tested. He’s been doing great on the specific allergy friendly food he is on. We are thankful we could give him the chance at a forever life by bringing him to our rescue and helping him on his journey to finding a family! If Comet sounds like he could be a match, please fill out an application on our website.

Story
Meet Reba! This sweet girl was unfortunately dealt a tough start to life where she was chained in the backyard and neglected to a point where her collar had to be surgically removed from her neck. The sweet lady has made incredible strides in her life since then and we know the right family will leave all her bad memories in the past and fill up her future with only love. We’ve made up a list for what this special girl would like in a forever home: -An active home with lots of walks and time to play ball. -I am crate trained but it’s not my favorite place so I would love to sleep in bed and cuddle on the couch with you. -Older kids would be best since I can be a little hyper I might knock a little one down. -She is open to having a doggy sibling but no cats If interested in applying for Reba, please fill out an application on our website. She can’t wait to meet you!

Story
Say hello to Bissell! Bissell is a beautiful Terrier mix who is approximately 2 years old and weighs 15 pounds. She came to us by way of a private rescuer in south Texas near the border of Mexico. She was found living on the streets in a neighborhood where she really didn’t have a home. Everyone knew who she was, but no-one claimed her as their own. She had a few litters of puppies and relied on the kindness of people there to get food. All of that is behind her now! She came to us with her little puppy Hoover and we are so happy they are here. We can’t wait for them to finally find their loving, forever homes. Bissell is a sweet and gentle girl. She has a short warming up period to get to know new people. But once she feels safe and comfortable, her personality starts to shine through. She is VERY treat motivated and is very gentle taking them, too. Bissell gets along with the other dogs in her playgroup, who are about her size and not very bossy or dominant. She will do best in a quieter home, with a patient family who will show her how wonderful it is to finally have a comfy home of her very own. Additonal Video: https://youtu.be/CX4GTp3w-IE?si=SrLuc3XaG9VEDEfe Play Yard fun with Bissell! https://youtu.be/qzyM0oGQw1g?si=9UqUvispdZXbanfK Bissell is located at our rescue in Hondo, Texas and is available for transport to Allen Park Michigan on June 15th 2024 with an approved application! She is spayed, up to date on all shots, microchipped and her adoption fee is $400. The fee includes the transport cost. *Bissell tested positive for Chagas disease and has started her treatment. This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs. Story
My story Here's what the humans have to say about me: Meet Bertha Say hello to Bertha! Bertha is a beautiful Boxer mix who is approximately 1.5 to 2 years old and currently weighs 40 pounds. She ended up in the dog pound along the Border of Mexico. The animal control officers loved her, and ask us to please help! We are very happy we were able to rescue her and help her find a forever home! Bertha is a very happy and playful gal! She gets along well with the other dogs in her playgroup here at the rescue, and is amazing on a leash!!! She has so much potential with the right family to teach her!! She is just so happy to learn! She does still have some puppy energy, so would do best in an active home with older kiddos where she can go on lots of walks, runs and/or hike, She is a very smart girl who learns quickly and wants love and attention so badly! She craves being with people! A basic obedience class would be great for her, she wants to please and is very treat motivated! Bertha is a wonderful girl who would be a loyal and loving companion to a loving family! Bertha is now in a foster home in Castroville, TX and not only that, her foster mom is a dog trainer and works with us at the rescue! She is doing wonderfully! Hondo, Texas and is available for transport to Allen Park Michigan on June 15th with an approved application! She is spayed, up to date on all shots, microchipped and her adoption fee is $400. Story
Meet Dutch Say hello to Dutch! Dutch is a handsome Chihuahua / Dachshund (“Chiweenie”) mix who is approximately 4 - 4.5 years old and weighs 15 pounds. This sweet guy was found as a stray in south Texas near the border of Mexico. We aren’t sure how he found himself in that situation, but all of that is behind him now! He is just the nicest dog with the most wonderful disposition. Dutch has a great personality and loves everyone he meets. He is small, mighty and is eager to make new friends! He LOVES playing with his toys and gets along well with the other dogs in his play group here at the rescue. He has puppies and some youngsters in his group and loves to romp around with them. He does have an old injury in his back leg that really doesn’t slow him down. Our vet prescribed some arthritis meds and Dutch is doing very well with them so far. He is truly a happy, playful dog with a lot of love to share. He will be a loving and loyal companion, ready to go on a walk to explore the neighborhood or just curl up next to you on the couch to watch a movie. We just love this little bundle of personality and can’t wait for him to find his forever home!
