Story
I've had Gigi for about 5 years after adopting her from my sister, who had her as a puppy in California. She's now around 5-6 years old and has lived with me in both Washington and California. Gigi travels very well and loves long car rides, especially when she can look for squirrels. She needs plenty of exercise and does great on hikes, long walks, and even running alongside a skateboard or bike. She has always lived with other dogs (large and small), cats, and children and does well with all. She was once attacked by another dog and needed stitches but fully recovered. She does need to be watched around trash, as she once ate something dangerous and required emergency surgery, which she also fully recovered from. Gigi is high energy but past the puppy stage, loves toys, and tug-of-war is her favorite. She needs a dedicated home that can give her proper exercise, structure, and lots of love.

Story
Henry just barely turned two! He came from a litter of seven is the second to smallest. His nature is mellow compared to his brother Lenny that my son has and much more mellow than my daughters three year old, ( all the same breed) he loves people and he is a bit shy. He’s potty trained to go outside and he is simply amazing when you throw a ball or frisbee because he catches it in the air almost every time as well as chasing it into the ocean or pool. He’s potty trained is very naturally skilled. I’m very disappointed and I did not want to let him go but my job is taking me somewhere dogs aren’t allowed.

Story
Blondie doesn’t want to be everyone’s dog. He wants to be YOUR dog. If you’ve been dreaming of a deeply loyal companion who will be your shadow, your adventure buddy, and your most devoted friend—a dog who truly bonds with his person—meet Blondie. He came to us scared and unsure, but after 6 weeks of board and train, he’s transformed into the confident, gorgeous boy he was always meant to be.This 4-year-old, 77 lb Belgian Shepherd is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and crate trained. He walks beautifully on leash, shows no toy or food aggression, and is well-adjusted and happy. What makes Blondie special: He’s sweet, compliant, and eager to please. He loves being with people and will seek you out for affection. He listens well and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement. Blondie just needs a strong, confident leader who will guide him with kindness. His ideal home: Blondie is ideally your only pet or is matched with an experienced adopter and a calm dog. He would thrive in a home without small children where he can be the center of attention. He’s ready to bond deeply with one person or family and give all his love and loyalty to them. This gorgeous boy has come so far. Now he just needs his forever.

Story
This is Fiona, a gorgeous, loving, intelligent, tripod girl. She deserves the world. At just 17 months old, Fiona has survived more than most dogs should. This beautiful German Shepherd lost her leg from abuse; her humerus was broken vertically in half ! She was found wandering on the streets, as a stray, not using her front left leg, just carrying the leg and attempting to get around. Downey Animal Control used a catch pole and brought her into the shelter. Instead of being given the care and comfort she needed to heal, she was placed back on cold cement kennel floors to recover alone. Her food was thrown onto the same floor where she went to the bathroom. The decision to amputate through an outside vet came shortly thereafter. And, then a week later, when she still could not walk properly, they spayed her. And then? They decided it was time to euthanize her for space! Since she was a special medical case, we decided that was not going to happen. Olive’s Retreat Dog Sanctuary pulled her. And from the moment we did, Fiona has shown us exactly who she is — a strong, joyful, ridiculously smart girl who refuses to let her past define her. She adapted to life on three legs with a grace and joy that will take your breath away. She runs. She plays ball. She lights up every room she walks into on those three beautiful legs. Fiona is 60 lbs. of pure love and spirit. She’s leash trained, crate trained, and spayed. She adores her people — like, really adores them. Balls and bones are her love language, and she’d happily spend every second by your side if you let her. Here’s what she needs: preferably a home where she’s the only pet. A handler who’s confident and experienced — prior GSD owners or seasoned dog people who understand the breed would be amazing. And someone with the patience and commitment to give this girl the life she fought so hard to live. It will take special people or a person to be with Fiona. She is a huge cuddler, and yes, she hugs with all the love she has in her! Fiona’s story started with tragedy. But it doesn’t end there. It ends with you.
