Story

Maya and Lobo are a friendly pair of labs who came to us as owner surrenders after their family could no longer care for them. They lived mostly outdoors, however, are quickly acclimating to the luxuries of indoor living, seeming to be housebroken with affinities for comfy beds! Maya is a loving, gentle girl who thinks she’s a lapdog! She greets you with a happy smile and nudge for attention. Lobo is a friendly, sweet mellow guy who also loves to be pet and get attention. They both are very bonded to each other, have been together their whole lives and will only be re-homed together. Both dogs have grown up alongside a child from 2 - 9 years old and were very gentle. We’re working on addressing some needed vet care and both pups need to lose about 30 lbs. But they are overall in good health and looking for a loving, patient home where they can go home together and continue their wellness journey!

Story

Handsome Duke was found as a stray in Stanislaus County with a prong collar embedded into his neck. He was understandably nervous with handling and with these two strikes against him he was placed on the euthanasia list. As a rescue we were allowed to take him on and we are so glad we did. Given his condition both physically and mentally due to neglect, he was initially thought to be a senior, but as Duke has gotten comfortable we are fairly certain that isn't the case. We think Duke is closer to 4 years old. He has become quite the love while he has been at Lily’s Legacy. His neck has healed nicely, and he is learning to trust in leaps and bounds. Duke seems to really enjoy the company of people and is very eager to please. He is also calm around other dogs once they meet, but he can be reactive when he sees them on leash. We know Duke just wants to play so bad, but he will need proper introduction with other dogs. Duke is appropriate with small dogs and the previous shelter reported he is also good with cats. Duke will need a home that will meet his needs both mental and physical. Walks, hikes and some fun puzzle toys will go a long way with Duke. He is highly food motivated and is so ready to have someone work with him on obedience. We are enjoying watching Duke begin to shine like the diamond he truly is. He is going to make someone a wonderful and loyal companion.

Rosie | Yellow Lab | 10-Years-Old | Spayed Female | Approx. 60 lbs. Sweet Rosie came to us originally in 2023 and has lived with kids, dogs and cats throughout her life and done well. However, the more we continue to learn about this sensitive girl, she likely is looking for a quieter home in her senior years, where she can live out her retirement getting all the attention she deserves. Rosie is an energetic senior who loves to play fetch, with toys, romp in the backyard and go on daily sniffaris. She loves to play with other dogs but is happy to come home and snuggle once she has had her daily outings. Rosie is looking for a calm, quiet home - a doggie friend would be a bonus, but mostly she is searching for consistent and dedicated humans.

ENZOOOOOOOOO! WOOHOO! Let's Go!!! Boy, does this cutie have a zest for life! Before Lily's Legacy swooped him up, Enzo was found running with a pack of dogs in Stanislaus County. He was most likely hit by a car that dislocated his hip. Our good friends at Fairfax Vet did a stellar job getting it set back into place. Despite some restrictions with rough play, Enzo is always up for fun -- balls, toys, jumping, climbing, hiking, fetch, obedience, you name it. Enzo is true to his breed and is one smart dog, so no couch potatoes please. But he does also really love to relax next to his people and soak up pets, brushing, love and affection. Enzo has also made some really nice friendships with dogs here at the sanctuary and would probably enjoy being part of a well matched pack. So, if you are an active person looking for a ride or die for yourself of a resident dog or tow, Enzo just might be your good boy.

This spunky guy came to us from the Contra Costa shelter where he was a volunteer favorite. He’s been a charming resident, curiously meeting each new person and dog. We don’t know much about Koda’s past, but he certainly is a lover, politely greeting each new visitor with an enthusiasm and cuddles. Koda is an engaging, active senior who brings a calm, easy-going personality. He loves his daily walks and enjoys his time with doggie playgroups. Koda will make the perfect companion, whether it’s a hiking-buddy, car co-pilot or people-watching park company. Wherever this guy came from, he has clearly known a loving bond!
