Story
Peanut Butter joined our family as a puppy in early 2021 from a Central Valley, CA rescue. She is a smart, playful, people-loving adult dog who has been deeply loved in our home. After recently welcoming a baby, we learned that Peanut Butter struggles with anxiety and has had a hard time adjusting to the changes and reduced one-on-one attention she’s used to. We worked with a trainer through Family Paws, but despite our efforts, the environment has become too stressful for her. She deserves a home where she can receive the time, consistency, and love she thrives on. Peanut Butter would do best in a single-dog household with no infants or toddlers, and with adopters who have experience with anxious dogs and the patience to support a sensitive pup. She would thrive with a backyard or regular access to open spaces. She loves fetch (especially her orange Chuckit ball), enjoys off-leash trails, prefers quiet environments over busy streets, and is very smart with a bit of stubborn charm.

Story
We’ve had Herbie a few weeks and don’t think it’s a match. He’s about 2, according to the vet but likely younger. He's 51% Labrador Retriever, 43% Siberian Husky, 6% Akita mix. He’s a long, lean beautiful, active, loving guy. Herbie loves people, is very smart and takes to training very quickly. He has had some private sessions w/ a trainer who raves about him. He does get a bit jumpy when he wants to get exercise in and when he’s super excited. He needs plenty of exercise and mental stimulation/play but relaxes nicely as well and enjoys belly rubs. Herbie has been crate training and is able to rest comfortably in it, without prompting for short durations, including putting himself into crate or settling on his bed for the night. He’s great with other dogs but needs to go into a home without a cat. Likely not a good fit for small kids right now. He’ll make a great hiking, running (he loves to run), or couch partner.

Story
Roc is a wonderful energetic dog. He was found roaming the streets of our neighborhood. We took him to the veterinary clinic to see if he was microchipped and he was, however when they called the owner they said they didn’t want him anymore. After much thought we took him in with our other two dogs and it’s been a great 4 years. Unfortunately Roc has become aggressive towards one of our dogs so we need to re-home him. We have taken the steps to have him trained so whoever adopts him will have a fully trained dog. We just can’t take the risk that the aggressive behavior will continue. Roc is an athletic dog, loves to play chase, and is an all around happy dog. He loves to cuddle, give kisses, and he gives the best hugs. I think he needs a place where he is the only dog and gets a lot of run time or outside time.

Story
Pongo is a real ball of energy, with enough enthusiasm to keep you going all day long. Due to his excitement, Pongo can be a little mouthy at times, so you might want to invest in some sturdy chew toys! Despite his playful nature, Pongo is also one smart cookie. He's always eager to learn new tricks and commands, and with the right training, he's sure to be the top dog in no time. However, it's worth noting that Pongo may need some extra guidance when it comes to being around kids. He's still learning the ropes, but with patience and lots of treats, he'll be the perfect family pet in no time. Please call 707-459-4900 if you would like to meet Pongo.

Story
Lily is an active, full-throttle kind of girl! Grab life by the horns and run with it... or grab a big stick rather ! She LOVES running and chasing sticks, the bigger the better!!l She is super confident, a bit bossy, and selective about the company she keeps. Lily isn't a social butterfly, she would love a home with a couple active adults who don't have a ton of social activity in the home. She will protect, and maybe get possessive if allowed, so best to keep some boundaries with her! Smart, athletic girl who needs dog savvy folks with a yard and time to provide lots of love, play time (big sticks!) and ongoing training and stimulation. She doesn't love crowds, so no dog parks for Lily. Experienced dog-savvy applicants ONLY. Thank you for considering adoption of a Milo Foundation Sanctuary dog. Our Sanctuary is where our rescued dogs who have had difficulty in a home in the past, have behavioral issues, or too much energy, or for some, aggression issues with other dogs, or intense stranger danger that make them more difficult to safely and happily live in urban environments. These are not beginner dogs or for the most part nor are they for families with children. IF you are looking for an easy dog to add to your family, we suggest looking at the dogs at our Adoption Center, Milo Pt Richmond. BUT, if you can offer a safe and nurturing home to a dog with some behavioral "quirks" please do send an application today. Thank you.
