Story
Kiwi is a 6-year-old sweet, loving dog who has been part of our family since he was 3 months old. He is incredibly affectionate, gentle, and wonderful with kids and other dogs. Kiwi loves being around people and has a very friendly, loyal personality. He has been raised in a home environment and thrives when he has companionship, attention, and consistency. Kiwi struggles with being left alone for long periods and gets bored, which has led to him escaping the yard when unattended. Because of changes in our work and school schedules, we are no longer able to provide the time, structure, and attention he truly needs and deserves. We are hoping to find Kiwi a patient, loving home where he can receive more companionship and security. He would do best with a family who is home more often, has a secure yard, and understands that he forms strong bonds with his people. This has been a really hard decision because Kiwi is such a loving member of our family and we want the best for him.

Story
Benji is a 5.5-year-old, 80 lb dog who has been a beloved part of our family since he was a puppy (a gift from my mom via a breeder). We are heartbroken to be rehoming him. Benji is so sweet, affectionate, loyal, and goofy, and loves being around his people. He thrives with attention, exercise, and structure. We’re seeking an experienced owner who can provide consistent training and a calm, confident environment. Benji can be anxious and easily spooked, so he must be kept on leash and needs help continuing his training. Benji has had a few incidents, including a dog fight where a person who intervened was bitten (unclear which dog), and an off-leash situation where Benji chased a small dog and knocked over its owner (not out of aggression, but due to not knowing his size/strength). He is strong and needs a capable handler. With four kids/teens in our home and a baby on the way, we can’t give Benji the extra support he deserves. We want a safe, loving home where he can thrive.

Story
Merlin is a 5 year old 80lb Shepard mix. We are a family of 5 with three boys ages 11, 15 and 17. Merlin has been in our family for 4 years. He was adopted from Milo foundation a 1 year old. He is a happy high energy dog that loves to chase sticks and roam. Despite a secure gat around our house he occasionally escapes when a door to the house is left open (there are several) or he finds an open gate. Despite a hike with me in the morning and one with a hired walker that knows him well he continues to escape. We live in a suburban community with many hiking trails but still have busy roads that pose a threat. He’s a free spirit that needs more space, maybe a job to keep him busy and a person or people to love him.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Maddie is the kind of dog who makes herself part of your world almost immediately. Whether she is curled up beside you on the couch, following you from room to room, or proudly showing off a new trick for treats, she just wants to be close to her people. Maddie has proven herself to be an incredibly loyal, affectionate companion with so much love to give. She is smart, eager to learn, and deeply connected to the humans she trusts. Her foster says she has a way of looking at you with her big adoring eyes that makes it impossible not to fall in love. Maddie is the perfect mix of adventure buddy and cuddle bug. She loves sniff walks, car rides, interactive toys, rolling around in the grass, and soaking up the sunshine, but she is just as happy tucked under a blanket beside you getting belly rubs. She is food-motivated, highly trainable, and already knows an impressive list of commands. Once she settles in, her easygoing and loving personality really shines. Like many underdogs, Maddie thrives with patience, routine, and connection. She would do best with someone who wants a true companion by their side and is excited to continue building her confidence and training. In return, she will give you unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and a best friend who will never let you feel alone. If Maddie sounds like the right fit for your family or you just want to learn more, email info@rescuetheunderdog or click "Apply for Adoption" to start our adoption application.

Prada

Cane Corso

Female, 3 yrs
San Francisco, CA
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Prada is a 3-year-old Cane Corso rescued from a local shelter after being returned following adoption, something that unfortunately happens far too often to large breed dogs. Big dogs are frequently overlooked or misunderstood in shelter environments, but Prada is the kind of dog who proves just how wonderful they can be. Despite her size, Prada is incredibly gentle and easy to live with. She walks beautifully on leash without pulling and naturally stays right by your side, making her a very easy dog to handle. She loves people, happily gives kisses, and does well with dogs of all sizes. She also enjoys playing fetch and will proudly bring the ball back every time. Prada does best when crated while home alone, and she is already crate trained and comfortable with that routine. She also knows basic commands like sit and come. Prada would thrive in a home where someone is around often, whether that is a family, someone who works from home, or adopters who simply want a loyal companion by their side. She has so much love to give and deserves a home that will finally give her the stability and commitment she deserves. You are interested in making Prada a part of your family, click "Apply for Adoption" to start an application or email info@rescuetheunderdog.org for more information.
