Orion

Mutt Dalmatian

Male, Adult
Glen Carbon, IL
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Orion is full of energy and love, and needs a family to share it with. He can be a bit rough when playing but only if you initiate it. He is very well mannered (however there is always room to grow). He is crate trained but unless you plan to be gone for more then 14 hours a day he is perfectly fine being left to his own devices. Orion has spent the last 4+ years surrounded by cats of all personalities and sizes and has not shown any sign of aggression towards them. He is a Pit/Dalmation mix so I would suggest doing research on the personality traits of both breeds if that is a concern. Besides that, he is just a slightly overweight old boy who has a whole lot more to give. All he needs now is a family to share it with. (Adoption fee is optional, can be discussed)

Story
HELP: ACTIVE DUTY AIR FORCE! Moving in June 2024 I adopted Roman when I was stationed in North Dakota in 2019. He was born December 5th 2018. I leave in June for 8 months of training in Georgia and I cannot bring him with me. It pains me to have to make this profile, but I am hoping that he will find his forever home where his parent(s) have the time and space that he deserves. He is your typical husky; loud, talkative, goofy, and escape artist. He loves to play and will need a fenced in back yard. He does great with children, but does not like to be picked up or hugged so older kids would be ideal. He tolerates dogs, but would be better as a single dog. If there is another dog that other dog must know social cues/boundries. He is pretty well trained (sit, paw, down, speak, stay) and walks best with a face lead. Please help me find Roman a loving home. I would want to do a home visit with him before making my final decision.

Story
Rhett Cavalier King Charles Spaniel 5yo/ 19lb Neutered/Microchipped UTD on vaccinations/ dental Flea/Heartworm prevention current Please read the bio in its ENTIRETY. If you feel you are a perfect match, please send an email to gateway4paws@gmail.com for additional information. Only complete & qualified applications will be considered or contacted for adoptions. We are a 100% foster-based rescue. Applications can be found here on our website. We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & be able to drive for a meet and greet. We have a FAQ section here on our website regarding adoption. Rhett was released to us with some other Cavaliers when a breeder was downsizing. All he has ever known is breeding, that is the only time he was touched or held. We have reason to believe he was even moved from breeder to breeder, being traded. With some of his breeders, he never got to go outside, never saw sun or grass, never was cuddled. If you aren’t familiar with this breed, please do some research. His wellness exam was “unremarkable”, meaning the doctor found him to be healthy! He has been so excited & happy with the new comforts he has found. He is an excellent car rider & loves to relax on the couch with his foster siblings. He would do great with a family who likes to be outside. Rhett has learned the freedom of having a big backyard where he can explore. He loves to run the perimeter of the yard & assign himself security duties, lol. Rhett loves the outdoors & would be a great walking/hiking partner once he learns to leash walk. He has been wearing a harness & his foster mom has had a leash attached. But he is not ready for leash walking outside a secure area just yet. He certainly will not do his potty business on a leash. We will be requiring a VERY secure physically fenced yard/area for potty training, as that is something he will need to do immediately upon arriving at his new home. Rhett is doing well with house training. He doesn't signal to go outside, but he does go to the door & knows that is the direction to go! Rhett certainly enjoys the treat he gets for being a good boy when he potties outside. His family will need to establish a schedule so he can continue to be successful. Rhett’s foster family has Cavalier experience & he has foster Cavalier siblings, so they have really been working on what it is like to live in a house with normal everyday noises & activities. Rhett is not ready to be a “pet” yet. He needs time to continue decompressing, time to build trust, time to establish relationships. Until then, Rhett’s family will need to be prepared to be very patient. He will let you pick him up, but he would prefer to just sit next to you. He enjoys being people & especially other dogs. He needs a chance to just exist in his environment until he sees that this good life is forever. At night he sleeps with his foster siblings, they typically all snuggle together on the couch. When his foster family is gone, he will crate with his foster siblings & have soothing music or the television on. They are also good to leave in a puppy proofed room of the house. Please apply quickly if you meet the requirements. Rhett would like to start getting to know his family & explore his backyard as soon as possible!

Cavalier & Mini Poodle (Cavapoo) dob 06.26.21/ 2.5yo old/ 13lbs UTD vaccinations/neutered flea/heartworm prevention current Please read the bio in its ENTIRETY. If you feel your family is a perfect match, please send an email to gateway4paws@gmail.com for additional information. Applications can be found on our website. Only completed applications that meet requirements will be reviewed. We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL to be eligible to adopt. We will require applicants to be available to travel to meet him. We are definitely looking for a fun active home for Clyde. He is in a foster home with dogs of similar size & he really enjoys their company. He would likely do better and learn his social skills more quickly if he had another dog to mentor him. He has bonded with his foster mom faster than his foster dad. But he has started nudging his foster dad's hand when they are sitting on the couch together. In his foster home, Clyde has a completely fenced yard to run and play in. He enjoys this freedom & we really hate to take that from him. Clyde is also not leashed trained, but his foster mom has been working with him. However, he will need a secure containment immediately to be able to do his business. We will be requiring a completely secure & enclosed fence. NEVER EVER should he be left in a yard without supervision. Clyde is working on potty training. It is a process that will require commitment & patience. Clyde is doing well with his training! He doesn't bark to go outside, but he knows which door to use & he will go stand at it. When a new environment is introduced, there are changes in routine, therefore he will need his family to set him up for a successful transition. Consistency & patience will be required. Clyde does know what treats are and he knows where they are kept in the kitchen. He is very interested in earning treats for good behavior. He really likes please his family. He is such a cute friendly little guy. Please apply if you meet the requirements & would like to adopt this adorable little snuggle boy. You can find FAQ regarding our adoption process on our website. We are ready to process applications & find Clyde his forever family!

Blanche Maltese 5yo/ DOB 04/22/19 Approx 10lbs Spayed/Microchipped UTD on vaccinations Current on flea & heartworm prevention Please read the bio in its ENTIRETY. If you feel your family is a perfect match, please send an email to gateway4paws@gmail.com for additional information. Only complete & qualified applications will be considered/contacted. We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & able to drive there for a meet and greet. We are a 100% foster-based rescue. Applications & FAQ about our adoption process can be found on our website. Blanche is a low key, quiet little girl. Until now, she has spent her time raising puppies for other families. Now, she has the chance to find her family & to be loved for the rest of her life. She has had very little human interaction, so humans are unfamiliar to her. She is very brave, and will smell your hand & take treats from you. She just needs some time to get used to movement & home noises. She will do best learning from other 4-legged siblings so we would like to see her find a home with some friends of similar size & energy level. She follows her foster siblings around, like in & out the door for potties. Going from room to room & different activities. Blanche is not yet ready to be a lap dog, and she isn't a dog that you can just pick up. She will need time to establish trust & relationships with her family. She is still not accepting of the harness and leash. Therefore, for her safety, a secure physically enclosed area is a must. She isn't an outdoor adventure dog; she doesn't need a yard that she can run around in. But she does need a very secure area to do her potty business. Never EVER should she be left in the yard alone. If you are looking for a quiet friend, Blanche would love to hang out with you! We hope to find her a human friend that is interested in spending the day with Blanche watching & observing the wonderful world around her. She is a dog that is finally getting her chance to lounge around & be a dog!
