Story
Ella is 4 years old and just over 60lbs. If you are looking for a hugging dog, then Ella is the dog for you. She is such a sweetheart with people; unfortunately other dogs bring out the worst in her. She loves walks but is very reactive if another dog is in the area. That is why she definitely requires a fence. Ella can be a little fearful of loud noises and strange people. Don't overlook her. If you would like to meet Ella (and she definitely is worth it!) please go to odas.org and fill out the preliminary under the Adopt column. Once received we will schedule an appointment for Ella to meet you.

Story
I'm Ginger and I'm a strong, independent lady! Every day, my friends here take me for my morning stroll- I'm housebroken, after all, so I have to start the day with a walk to... powder my nose. And I tell them every day- don't trouble yourself! I can take myself for a walk on my own! I just grab the leash in my mouth and... well, they always insist on holding onto it and coming along, but I know I'm the one calling the shots. I'm a queen, you know? No- amend that. Among animals, I'm THE queen. Not "one of a whole bunch of queens, all of whom are equal." I'd like to be the one and only pet in your home, please and thank you EVER so much. And why not? I'm all the dog anyone would need! I'm smart and sassy and loving. I know several tricks (sit, lie down, shake, high five, speak). I'm more of a "best friend who contributes equally to the relationship" type than a "subservient baby whose only two brain cells are dedicated to slavish devotion" type. I'm about seven years old now and I've made a name for myself here in the shelter. I'm a volunteer favorite- they love going for walks with me and hanging out with me. At 81 lb, I'm solidly in the "big dog" category, but... well, you can see from my picture, I've got a few pounds to spare. I've been here in the shelter for a while now, patiently waiting my turn, but I'm tired of waiting! I need you to come and get me. Be my other half. Be my best friend. And I'll be yours. If you would like to meet Ginger, please fill out the preliminary at odas.org/canine

Story
My name is Chomper and I'm not the kind of dog whose world is just black and white. Where some dogs are brown-eyed or blue-eyed, I'm both. Where some dogs' coat colors are easy to describe, mine is... Blue? Tan? White? Merle? A little of each? It's not just that, though. For some dogs, life is good. People are great. That's all they've ever known and all they ever will know. And for some, people are scary and life is tough. For me... it's a little of both. I love people. I'm cuddly and affectionate and I really WANT to be everyone's friend. But I've learned from experience that dogs have to be careful. Not all people are safe. Sometimes, when they move too fast, I get scared and flinch and back away. I do know that there are a lot of good people in the world. People who won't hurt me, ever, no matter what. And I'm looking for one of those. Someone with a gentle soul. You probably want to know if I get along well with other animals and, like everything else... it's not a simple "yes" or "no." In the home I came from, I lived with another dog, cats, and pre-teen kids. But since coming to the shelter, I haven't wanted to be friends with any of the animals I've met. See what I mean about things not being black and white? What I do know for sure is that I'm a good boy. I'm going to be someone's "heart dog" for sure- the one they'll never forget. Are you the kind of person who can help a dog like me heal? Who can hold my paw when I get scared and teach me to expect a beautiful life? Come and meet me. Please. I need you. Please fill out the preliminary at odas.org/canine if you want to visit this youngster!

Story
Human, oh my gosh- thank goodness you're here. I need your help. Get. Me. Out. Of. Here. Okay, fine, I get that some dogs are just fine in the shelter. And that's cool and all, but that's not me. Concrete floor and a gajillion strangers? Yikes. 76 barking dogs all around me, all day every day? I mean, would YOU like that? No. I'm a HOME dog. I belong at your place- somewhere I can get comfortable around my family. Somewhere with no other animals (I'm not a fan and would like to be an only dog). Somewhere I can learn and grow and relax. I'm a smart, energetic, sweet girl with a whole lot of potential! But how am I supposed to achieve greatness here? For that, I need someone like you. I'm about three years old now and I think it's time to settle down- I was found as a stray and I'm tired of life on the run, in a shelter, not knowing where I came from or where I'm going. You understand, right? I just want a family. So what do you say- can you help me out? Please fill out the preliminary at odas.org/canine and then visit (or schedule an appointment).
