Story
Meet Tammy. Tammy stumbled upon our home about 6 months ago. She was extremely underweight, covered in fleas, and looked like she had just lost her puppies. We think she is around 5-6 years old and she is the sweetest and most gentle creature we have ever met. With 3 dogs already, as much as we would like to, we cannot afford to care for her any longer. Since her arrival she has been spayed, is up to date on all her vaccines, and is currently on a flea/tick preventative. Tammy is great with our other dogs, but she is very needy when it comes to attention. So far she has not shown any signs of an anxiety disorder, and would sleep on the couch all day if we let her. Tammy just wants to love and be loved. We have come to love her like one of our own, and do not want her to go to just anyone. Please feel free to contact me with any questions if you or someone you know would like a new best friend!

Story
Charlie is a 2.5 year old mastiff mix weighing in at a whopping 100-pounds! He LOVES people, but most of all he loves his humans. He is good with kids, but due to his size older kids would be a better fit. Charlie is good with dogs after he has a proper introduction, as he can be a rude greeter. Charlie aims to please and would do best with a strong, disciplined leader in his life. He has been enrolled in professional training for about 1.5 years, so he knows all of the basic commands and has good manners. He is leash trained, kennel trained, and house-broken. Charlie is a medium to low energy guy - he loves hikes, walks, and playing fetch. He’s only good for about 5 throws before he wants to play hide-and-seek! He is very smart and loves to learn new tricks. He was adopted 2 years ago and has been in the same home since, but adjustment has been difficult due to cats and a horse.

Story
Hello my name is Hanky Panky and I would love to find my own forever family! My brothers got adopted already, probably because they inherited my mom’s pretty Catahoula markings, but I promise I’m just as beautiful on the inside! I love to cuddle, physical touch is definitely my love language. And food, man I could eat all day if my foster mom would let me. I’m also a very good boy in my kennel, I think she calls it “kennel training”. I would love to have a brother or sister, but also like to take time outs to play with my toys in my kennel alone when I need space, so would be ok to take up all of your time on my own. My foster mom tells me I have exceptionally long legs and I believe her because I trip over them when I try to run around outside. She says I will grow into them one day. I have spent a lot of time around other dogs and cats at my foster mom's house, I try to get along with everyone! If you have a nice dog bed, treats and all the love to give, you should definitely click the link and send my mom a message!

Story
Thanks to Melissa Carlton State Farm Agent, Gerald's adoption fee is waived! With supporters like Melissa, all dogs have second chances and their futures look bright. Meet our sweet boy Gerald, or Jerry as we affectionately call him that! This happy-go-lucky senior was found wandering as a stray in our East St. Louis Community. He was in poor physical condition so we whisked him into our sheltering program for some much needed TLC. As he began to trust and make friends with staff we noted that Gerald would frequently dribble urine (also called incontinence). Our veterinary team performed a work-up and on x-ray discovered an old spinal injury affecting his lower spine, (which is the likely culprit of his incontinence). Unfortunately, Gerald's bathroom difficulties can only be managed, (not cured). Gerald is taking medication to strengthen his bladder and with some home-care tips and tricks we are hoping this young-at-heart senior might get a second chance for a few more years. Here at Gateway Pet Guardians we believe that every homeless pet deserves a second chance, (even the older models)- if you feel the same way ,we invite you to consider adopting sweet old man Gerald! If you're interested in meeting Gerald, please visit our website to learn about our adoption process and to fill out an application, www.gatewaypets.org/adopt Let Melissa Carlton State Farm show you what it's like when an insurance agent has your back! www.mcgotyourback.com #MCgotyourback #adoptthegateway All of our dogs and cats will be micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations at the time of adoption.
