Story
Meet our super handsome and sleek boy named Harvey! Harvey is about 1.5 years old and he came to our shelter after he was abandoned by his owners. A resident in our town allowed someone to leave Harvey at their home for a couple nights, but they never came back for him. Now Harvey is looking for his forever family! Harvey is a young boy who enjoys a good head and butt scratch. He has started to get more affectionate with us here and he learns routines very quickly. Harvey is a playful guy who especially loves the kong shaped toys. He will play fetch with those over and over until he is tired out. Harvey is a smart boy who listens well for treats or toys. He does have some dominant energy, so he will need a confident dog owner who will work on some basic training with him. Harvey did great at our vet office and loved everyone there. He is fine with other dogs, but we think he will want to be the dominant dog in the home. He can go to a home with older children 15 years old and older. If you are interested in adopting Harvey Please Email us at Adopt@savingpawsct.org for an application! His adoption fee is $75.00. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL SPAM FOLDER! MAC IS OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK (M-F 8-4pm) (Sat-Sun 10-4pm) Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal. Appts to meet dogs can made to suit your schedule, please email/call for an appt. We do prefer to be contacted by email for adoption inquiries at Adopt@savingpawsct.org. The office phone number is 203-235-4179. Leave a message, and someone will call you back promptly. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL SPAM FOLDER! You must be 21 years of age to adopt with valid ID. There is a short application for adoption, however if you do not own your home, or you own a condo, we must speak with your landlord or housing association giving permission to dogs/cats. Bully breed specific permission is required if you rent or own a condo. If you own your home, proof of home ownership is required. If there are other pets in the home they must be licensed (if a dog) and up to date on vaccinations. If there is another dog in the home a dog interaction must be done at the shelter before adoption, to ensure the safety and well being of all pets. All children in the home need to be declared and brought down to meet the animal. Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal. An approved application does not guarantee an adoption. We do not hold animals for meet and greet appointments. ALL ANIMALS ARE SPAYED AND NEUTERED BEFORE THEY GO HOME. Name: NitroBreed: PittieAge: 4 1/2 years Dogs: NoCats: NoKids: NoMeet Nitro, a handsome sweetheart who’s the perfect mix of playful and easygoing. He enjoys his walks and has a nice, steady energy, so he’ll do well with someone who appreciates getting out and moving but doesn’t need a marathon partner. While on a walk Nitro loves to stop and roll on the grass. He’s a strong boy, but he’s also a great companion who loves being out and about. When it’s playtime, Nitro lights up. Give him his jolly ball, and he’ll happily entertain himself for ages, trotting around proudly like it’s the best toy ever invented. And when he’s ready to unwind, he’s all about stretching out and relaxing with his favorite Benebone.Nitro does have a high prey drive, so he’s looking for a cat free home. He’d also prefer to be your one-and-only dog, since sharing toys isn’t really his thing. Nitro would do best with older kids who understand his strength and play style.Nitro is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to meet the person who’ll adore him as much as he’ll adore them.If you are interested in Nitro, please fill out an application today! https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=meridenhumanesociety&method=online_form_html&formid=27

Story
Meet our pretty chocolate colored girl named Mocha! Mocha is about 2.5 years old, and she is a sweet girl! She came to our facility after a young resident in town saw Mocha walking with a woman downtown who offered Mocha to them. They were told that if they didn't take Mocha, that she was going to be let loose to fend for herself. This resident took Mocha in for the night to keep her safe and then called us in the morning. From walking in our door, Mocha was a friendly and outgoing girl! She has a little extra weight on her, but with the right diet and exercise this could be worked on. She loves getting attention and she is food motivated. Mocha even likes wading around in our kiddie pools to cool off! She is looking for her forever family! Mocha is good with other dogs and she can go to a home with children 12 years old and older. If you are interested in adopting Mocha Please Email us at Adopt@savingpawsct.org for an application! Mama joined the MHS family shortly after her puppies were surrendered to us and has been ready for her forever home ever since! This beautiful big girl, weighing in at 124 pounds, is as strong as she is sweet and absolutely loves her people! Mama walks wonderful on a leash, knows all her basic commands, and is as loyal as they come! This lady loves people, but in typical Corso style will look to her people to be sure that new friends are okay. Mama is super smart but also has the total goofball personality, so we are saying kids over 12, because Mama loves to play and jump on her people when excited. Two of Mama's favorite things are rolling over for belly rubs and her stuffed animal toys! Story
*Nena's Adoption Fee has been sponsored by our friends at Another Shot Coffee Roasters!* Meet our goofy American Bully girl named Nena! Nena is about 1.5 years old, and she was surrendered to our shelter after her owner could no longer care for her. She is a very playful and outgoing girl once she gets to know someone. Nena can be a little standoffish at first, but give her a few tasty treats and she warms right up. Nena has a very short and stocky body type with a squishy, Bulldog like face. This causes her to honk and snort when she runs and plays. She will likely be sensitive to the very hot heat once the summer comes. Nena is a lover, and destroyer, of all fun squeaky toys. She is motivated by both food and toys, and will sit politely for both. She has little legs, but she can move fast and has no problem jumping up on couches. She also loves a good butt scratch and a couch cuddle session. Nena is not aggressive towards other dogs in general, but due to her extra love of toys, we think it would be best for her to go to a home where she can be the only dog to avoid confrontations over those. She gets a little too worked up around active kitties for us to feel comfortable placing her in a home with cats. Nena can go to a home with children 12 years and older who have experience with dogs. We would prefer Nena to go to a home that has experience with Bullies/Bulldogs. No first time dog owners please! Once we find an adopter to commit to taking Nena home, we will have her cherry eye surgically fixed and have her spayed. There will not be an additional fee for this. If you are interested in adopting Nena Please Email us at Adopt@savingpawsct.org for an application! Her adoption fee has been sponsored! PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL SPAM FOLDER! MAC IS OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK (M-F 8-4pm) (Sat-Sun 10-4pm) Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal. Story
Meet our super handsome and outgoing boy named Smudgie! We believe Smudgie is less than 2 years old and you may have seen his story on our Facebook page. In June, Smudgie was seen multiple nights in a row roaming around our local Target parking lot. After he was fed in the same spot those nights, a trap was set. It did not take long for him to enter that trap and be transported to our shelter for safety. Immediately, Smudgie was looking for human attention and showed us that he was a friendly guy. Besides having a bad urinary tract infection when he came in, which has now been treated, he was in good shape and we don't think he was wandering outside for too long. Smudgie is now ready for his forever home where he will never be abandoned again! He is a very high energy boy who loves to play and be with his people. We think he may have some herding breed in him, as he will try to herd you at your ankles if you are not paying attention to him. Due to this and his jumpiness, he can go to a home with children 15 years old and older who have experience with med/large sized dogs. Smudgie seems fine with other dogs here. If you are interested in adopting Smudgie Please Email us at Adopt@savingpawsct.org for an application! His adoption fee is $75.00. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL SPAM FOLDER!
