Story
Sonnie is the charming, independent gentleman of this bonded senior dachshund duo. At 13 pounds, he’s all personality, confident, friendly, and endlessly lovable. He enjoys affection on his own terms and is happiest lounging on soft pillows beside his beloved Roxie, often with calm music playing in the background. Sonnie is social and friendly with other dogs and seems to want to be everyone’s friend. He knows his name and responds well to commands like stay and come. When it’s time to go outside, Sonnie makes his needs very clear, he whines softly and heads straight to the door. Snow doesn’t bother him much, and he’ll proudly do his business even in the deepest drifts before deciding it’s time to go back inside. He’s a protective little guy too, when there’s a loud noise, Sonnie instinctively positions himself in front of Roxie. At bedtime, he happily goes into his crate (when Roxie goes first). Sonnie wears a belly band indoors due to marking behavior and does best with consistent routines. He also has a sensitive stomach, so maintaining the right diet is important for him. Donnie and Roxie are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. They rely on each other for comfort and security and thrive as a team. In the right home, one that understands senior dogs and appreciates their gentle routines, they will make deeply loyal, loving companions. If Interested in this island duo, please submit an application under either of their profiles. ##2604216##

Story
Roxie is the sweet, affectionate half of a bonded senior dachshund pair. At just 10 pounds, she’s a true lap dog who loves cuddles and being close to her people. She’s a quiet girl who rarely barks, but when she does, her surprisingly big voice makes her an excellent little watchdog! Originally from St. Thomas, Roxie prefers warmth over cold and snow. She has claimed the back of the sofa by a sunny window as her favorite spot for naps when she’s not seeking pets or reminding you it’s mealtime. She enjoys neighborhood walks, has made doggy friends along the way, and will politely let you know when she’s ready to head home. Roxie knows her name and listens well to commands like stay and wait. She and her companion Sonnie are crated at night and settle in easily, often heading straight to the crate on their own when they’re tired. She communicates her needs clearly; when she has to go outside, she’ll pace and make soft grunting sounds. Once you learn her signals, she does very well. Most importantly, Roxie is deeply bonded to Sonnie and is rarely far from his side. She waits for him, looks for him, and feels most secure when they’re together. Rosie and Sonnie must've adopted together. If interested please fill out an application under either of their profiles. ##2604212##

Story
Coco is a playful, energetic, people-loving girl who enjoys being close to her humans. She’s smart, affectionate, and eager to engage with her family. She would be great with a jogging or hiking buddy! Coco jumps when excited, so she’d do best with older kids and an active home. She may show a submissive grin when meeting people or getting excited — an appeasement behavior that responds well to calm handling. Coco loves boisterous play with other dogs and would do well with a canine companion who enjoys active play. She will bark at and chase cats (not aggressively), so she would do best in a home without cats. CoCo weighs approximately 45-50 pounds and is approximately 9 months old. She was turned in to our rescue as a neighborhood stray several months ago and has since been spayed and up to date on vaccines. She is HW negative and is on heartworm prevention. If you would like to adopt CoCo, please message us and I will put you in contact with her foster mom. She can send you an adoption application! CoCO is being fostered in MS but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal friendly transport on the road! We look forward to hearing from you and will be happy to answer any questions about Coco that you may have!

Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Tux is currently at Paws in Prison. He will graduate in February. Let’s find him a home! Please share. From Paws in Prison:“Because their struggle is important, let’s continue with Tux’s Profile In Courage. He was just a tiny pup when he and his sister were dumped. They had no idea where they were or what they should do to stay alive…two things babies should never have to worry about. They kept moving, deciding walking was better than doing nothing. It was a life-saving decision. They stumbled on house and crawled under it. Now safe from the elements, they waited. And waited. Until the miracle came. The two terrified puppies were found…hungry and shaky but alive. That was the moment their lives really began. Both are with us now. His sister, Panda, has been adopted. But not Tux. He’s a 4-month-old lab mix (we think) with some ticking. We don’t have a current weight on him but we’re guessing 50-60 pounds when grown. Tux is handsome, a tad shy but friendly, and wants all the affection and interaction he can get. Just like we all do. He’s working on his manners and social graces. Those lessons are are hard to come by in a dark crawl space. His schooling is going well. Tux wants his very own people who love and understand him. People he can trust. And in return, they’ll have a sweet-faced baby boy who will love them with everything he has.” While at Paws in Prison, he’s paired with inmate trainers learning all the basics and maybe some tricks! When he graduates, he‘ll have all the skills needed to pass the Canine Good Citizen test. Good with other dogs. Was around cats at his foster home and was fine with them. Hasn’t been around kids but he’s just a baby himself so he should be just fine with them. He is neutered, microchipped, UTD on vaccines, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Tux is located in Arkansas. He can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays. To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
