Story
Meet Atticus, a SUPER sweet and lovable ~3 year old neutered male terrier/Boxer/lab mix (see pic of Embark DNA results), weighing about 54 lbs! This special boy was picked up as a stray by animal control in east TN. He spent some time in a shelter before being taken into rescue and transported up north, where he has been with his foster family for 7 months now. His foster family absolutely ADORES him and they don’t understand how he hasn’t been adopted yet.  Atticus is a friendly, goofy lovebug who just wants to love and be loved He also thinks he is a lap dog and he dares you to tell him otherwise! He has a zest for life and you can tell by the way he looks at you with such love in his eyes that he is DEEPLY thankful for being given a second chance. He will make you laugh every single day with his silly antics, and then he will happily be your little spoon when you're ready for bed. He is also very smart and knows many commands, he is food motivated and a fast learner!  This handsome guy is a true social butterfly! He absolutely LOVES people, and he is excellent with kids. He loves vigorous pets and butt scratches, and he will happily wiggle his WHOLE body with excitement when you give him attention! He gives the best hugs and kisses and makes the cutest like piggy noises when he is happy   Atticus does well with the resident dogs in his foster home, but he is dog selective and is typically not a fan of large fluffy dogs or dominant dogs. He tends to do better with dogs who are smaller than him. He does have some resource guarding tendencies when it comes to other dogs and food/treats (we always recommend feeding dogs separately regardless). He has not shown any resource guarding tendencies with people, only with other dogs. He has not been cat treated, so we are unsure how he would do with cats.  Atticus came to us with some reactivity to other dogs, which has unfortunately caused him to not "show" well at adoption events. His foster family has been working hard with him on this, with the help of K9 Rehab in Watertown, CT. He is now e-collar trained and walks beautifully on leash, even surrounded by other dogs. We are SO proud of the amazing progress he has made! As part of their Underdog program, K9 Rehab has generously offered continued training classes to Atticus’s adopter for FREE!  Atticus’s ideal home is one where he will be a cherished family member and given the love and attention that he so deserves. He is happiest when he is with his people, so it is important that he goes to a home where he will be welcomed on the couch and in his human’s bed - he is the perfect snuggle buddy! Additionally, we would like to see Atticus go to someone who is willing to keep up with his training to help him be the best version of himself. He is a truly wonderful dog who will absolutely thrive in the right home, and we just know that home is out there. Atticus is medically up to date and housebroken. Apply to meet this special boy today! Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2553222##

Story
Meet Jackson, a handsome adult (estimated age 4-7 years old) neutered male husky who is every bit as sweet as he looks! This boy weighs about 47 lbs currently. His fur makes him look bigger than he is, but he's actually a bit underweight and needs to gain a few lbs (his foster is working hard at this, which Jackson does not mind ONE bit! ).  Jackson is a very sweet, friendly boy who loves his people and enjoys making new friends - human and canine alike! He loves kids, but we recommend older kids 8+ or dog savvy kids, as he may unintentionally knock over a small child. He has not been cat tested, so we are unsure how he would do with cats.  From Jackson's current foster:  "Jackson is a super nice, clean boy with flawless house manners.  He has had no accidents and is not destructive at all.  He's actually quite calm and extremely affectionate.  His loving nature sets him apart -- he makes himself available for hugs and petting.  He's been wonderful with the neighborhood children. Everyone is his friend. He's a sweet deserving dog who is going to make someone very happy." He is medically up to date, housebroken (both his current and prior foster report that he has not had a single accident in the house!), and crate trained. Apply to meet this good boy today!  Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. Story
Meet Logan (aka Oliver) a very sweet 1.5 year old neutered male lab/pointer mix, weighing about 72 lbs! This handsome boy has the cutest tan eyebrows that accent his black and white coloring.  A total cutie! Logan was adopted as a young puppy and, through no fault of his own, is now being returned to PRL over a year later.  His current family describes him as a "smart, sweet, and loving dog and who loves affection and will lay at your feet so he can touch and be connected" He is an energetic boy who loves playing fetch and running around the yard - he would chase balls all day long if he could! He has good house manners and he knows basic commands ("sit", "lay down", "stay").  As sweet as Logan is, he is a timid boy who suffers from fear/anxiety when he is out of his comfort zone. His current family reports that he is afraid to go on walks and panics when he hears loud noises (lilke the vacuum). He is also not a fan of car rides. When he is home and in his fenced yard, he is very happy and relaxed and you would not know that he is such a scaredy cat. Logan does well with other dogs, and his family feels that he would benefit greatly from having another dog in the home (ideally a confident, well adjusted dog who can show him the ropes and help him build his confidence). Because he is so nervous on walks, Logan would do best with a fenced in yard where he can safely run and play. Logan is medically up to date, housebroken, and crate trained. Story
Meet Zipper, a SUPER cute 3 month old male mixed breed puppy, born to mama Buttons on 8/24/25! Buttons gave birth to 9 babies, two of whom were sadly stillborn. Of the remaining 7, 4 of them did not make it The three surviving pups (Zipper, Ruffles, and Ribbon) have thrived and turned into happy, healthy, chubby puppies!  They are now ready to find their furever homes! Unlike his siblings, Zipper has longer hair and short, stubby little legs! We believe he has some corgi in him. We expect them to grow into small/medium sized dogs. Zipper is a typical happy, playful puppy who loves everyone! Good with dogs, cats, people, and kids. Young puppies are like blank slates who, with proper training and socialization, will grow into wonderful dogs.  He is medically up to date (age appropriate), crate trained, and working on housebreaking. Apply to meet this sweet boy today! **Zipper will not be available until our 12/14/25 adoption event at Petco in Dayville, CT. We are accepting applications on him now! We will prioritize applicants who are able to attend the 12/14 event. If Zipper is not adopted at the event, we will move on to other applicants.** Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. Story
Meet Lucky, a sweet and spunky ~3 year old neutered male rat terrier mix/Jack Russell terrier mix, weighing about 15lbs.  Lucky is a friendly, loving boy who gets along well with other dogs, people, and kids. He likes cats but he does chase them, so a cat free home (or one with dog savvy cats) would probably be best for him. He would also LOVE a fenced in yard of his own, as he loves to run and get his zoomies out!  From Lucky: "My name is Lucky, my foster mom calls me Loki and I answer to both. I am a Rat Terrier/Jack Russell  mix and I have energy to spare so if you have a fenced in yard I am the pup for you. I am very loving, affectionate and a happy boy.  If you let me, I can be your lap pup. I love to love you and crave your attention. I’m good with other pups and will play with them but I would like a buddy that’s bigger than me or I can be your only one and will enjoy every minute you give me. I love to go for walks and I get excited when you get my leash. I am potty trained and do best on a regular schedule. When I get over stimulated by my foster mom’s little rascals, I will chill in another room  in my bed. I am looking for my human  that will spend some quality time with me and if you feel that you are the one please apply!" Lucky is medically up to date, crate trained, and mostly housebroken (he does great with a routine, occasional accidents when not kept on a routine). Story
Meet Zeus, a handsome 8 year old neutered male Corgi, weighing approx. 30 lbs! Zeus was surrendered to PRL through no fault of his own, due to significant changes in his owner's living situation. He has been loved and well cared for, and the owner chose to surrender him to a rescue to ensure he would be safe and would go to a good home.  Zeus is a friendly boy who does well with other dogs. He has not been cat tested, so we are unsure how he would do with cats. His previous owner has stated that he tends to be a little nervous around small children, so older children 10+ or adults only would be best.  Zeus is medically up to date and housebroken. A 100% good doggo!
