Story
KEVIN (Napa, CA) Kevin's story starts in Bakersfield, where he was sadly abandoned before being rescued by GLAR. Though we’ll never know what led to that moment, it’s clear he was deeply loved once. When he first arrived at his foster home, Kevin would sit quietly at the sliding glass door and softly whine, as if waiting for someone he missed dearly. But now, he’s settling in beautifully and showing everyone what a truly special dog he is. Kevin is about 2 years old, 15.5lbs., and full of love and life. He’s fully housetrained, walks nicely on a leash, and gets along wonderfully with the other dogs in his foster home (both neutered males and females). He’s also incredibly smart. He learns routines quickly and heads straight to his crate at mealtimes and bedtime without being asked. During the day, Kevin keeps his foster mom company while she works from home, laying quietly by her desk or happily chewing a bone. He’s playful, gentle when taking treats, and always ready for a walk or a snuggle session on the couch. Kevin hasn't been tested with cats or small children yet, and we're still getting a read on how he does with men (updates coming soon!). He may have some dachshund and rat terrier in his mix, based on his short legs, long body, and adorable spotted belly. The only "complaint" his foster has? Kevin is a bit of a table beggar. With how loving and charming he is, it's hard to hold that against him. He’s currently being fed three times a day to help him reach a healthier weight. Kevin is simply a delight- smart, affectionate, well-mannered, and full of heart. He’s recently been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He’s ready to find the forever home he deserves. Story
Meet Joey: the terrier of all terriers!! This adorable 1 year old, 9lb Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix is ready to find his forever home! Joey may be tiny, but he's packed with personality, charm, and that signature terrier spunk. (IYKYK) He’s had a rough start, but with love, structure, and training, he’s really come into his own. Joey is happy, cuddly, and full of potential. Why we love Joey: - 10/10 on the cuteness scale - Crate-trained and housebroken - Loves walks, sunbathing, burrowing, and cuddling - Super smart and treat-motivated - Loves his foster dog siblings and would thrive with a calm, confident dog companion (or as your one and only) Like many spirited terriers, Joey can be selective with new people. Sometimes he will affectionately jump into the laps of trusted visitors. In others, he needs a little more time and guidance. We're working closely with a trainer to help him with consistent greetings and building trust, and we’re happy to support his new family in continuing this progress. Joey’s ideal home will be with adults only. He needs a terrier savvy or rescue-experienced calm environment with patient, committed adopters. He'd do even better if there’s another calm pup to show him the ropes! Joey has so much love (and personality!) to give, he just needs the right match. Could that be you? Apply to adopt Joey today and help this little guy live his best life. https://www.gunterslegacy.org/adopt ##2359015##

Story
PIPSQUEAK & YOSHI Berkeley, CA You might remember these two peas in a pod. It turns out Yoshi and Pipsqueak are quite bonded and quite in love with life indoors. Their foster shares that they’re a joy to have around. Each have been getting updated on their vetting. They’re now both neutered, microchipped, and almost fully vaccinated. (Yoshi still needs a rabies vaccination. Do we have any rescue partners with free or low cost vaccination resources in Berkeley? Please text our foster coordinator if so! 831-238-8214) Once Yoshi receives his remaining vaccination, they’ll be available for adoption. We are accepting applications now. You can find our application here: https://www.gunterslegacy.org/adopt A very special thanks to Leigh Ann, their foster, who is new to our rescue and is clearly an outstanding volunteer and foster. We appreciate you! ##2242001##

Story
Daisy came to us from a Sacramento shelter.  She is partially blind, but does hear.  Whoever had her before loved her because she is very well behaved and trained to use potty pads.  She does well with other does and cats. Loves to be held and hugged.  When she's sleeping her tail wags.  She's so sweet.  ##2020889##
