Story
Behaviors observed by this animal leads us to state the following:Grant is a handsome pit mix with a story that will tug at your heart. When he first arrived at the shelter, he was nervous and unsure—wary of new people and the unfamiliar world around him. But with a little patience and a lot of love, Grant has started to let his guard down… and what we’ve discovered is a truly special dog with so much love to give. Once Grant trusts you, he becomes a total sweetheart. He lights up for belly rubs, happily accepts affection, and surprises everyone with sudden bursts of zoomies that show just how much joy he’s been holding inside. He has a soft spot for soft, squeaky toys (the more ridiculous, the better) and loves nothing more than a quiet moment snuggled up with someone he trusts. Grant is looking for A patient, understanding home that will give him the time he needs to adjust, A calm environment where he can continue to grow in confidence, A person or family who’ll celebrate his victories—big or small—and enjoy the goofball he becomes once he feels safe. With the right people, Grant will thrive. He’s already come such a long way, and now he’s ready to find a home where he can continue his journey, surrounded by love and squeaky toys. Children Recommendation: 10 & Up Personality Traits: Walks Well on Leash Knows Sit Treat Motivated **If you are interested in this animal, please contact 209-831-6364 for further information****If you are interested in this animal, please contact a 501c3 Non-Profit Animal Rescue to help facilitate an adoption**

Story
**Pappas is one of our longest residents and has been in our rescue over TWO years. Transport is available anywhere within the continental US for serious adopters.** Pappas has two hearts and it frankly shows in the amount of love this boy has to give. The first heart is the one you would expect within his body, and the other is the cutest little pattern on the side of his chest. Pappas is a sweetheart who adores just about every human he has ever met. He likes to cuddle and will lay at your feet for hours while you work or watch TV. Check out Pappas' video playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVb0fq1O6Cwkme5a9p_jT7SSnVtisoWi4 Pappas is crate-trained and knows commands such as sit, lay down, and stay. He is also trained to stay on his bed when guests first enter the home! Pappas is house-trained and is generally not destructive with anything except his stuffed toys. Pappas previously participated in shelter playgroups for gentle play. Unfortunately, due to an incident while he was recovering from surgery, Pappas needs very slow introductions to new dog friends so that he can feel safe. Pappas is not recommended to live with cats or small dogs due to prey drive. Pappas came into Better World Rescue from Stockton Shelter, where he was saved within 2 minutes of his euthanasia deadline. He was almost a goner simply because he had a mass on his rear end. Thankfully our veterinarian has removed the mass with good margins and no further treatment is expected. His butt is looking good as new! Pappas has also had a very rough life and was a frequent flyer overall at Stockton Shelter. He had an FHO surgery and knee surgery due to both poor living situations and untreated traumatic injury prior to rescue. He walks a little funny but the surgery has greatly reduced his previous pain from these injuries. Pappas is microchipped, neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations. All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for private and/or group training at no additional cost to help ensure a successful adoption. To meet Pappas, fill out our short adoption application: www.betterworldrescue.org/adoption-application Once an application is filled out, our volunteers will reach out to you within one business day to answer any questions and schedule a meet and greet.

Story
Akio is the ultimate velcro husky and has the fur to match. He will cling to you and be there to observe what you are doing every minute of the day. This boy does not mind sharing his bed with his humans and favorite children. He is an incredible cuddler and lives for affection. One of his favorite activities is getting all over belly rubs. Check out Akio's video playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVb0fq1O6Cwm_WmZYio3lFz7fX0tN3l__ Akio loves to play, whether it is chasing his ball around the yard or playing tug of rope with you. He gets morning zoomies where he loves to run around the house, up the stairs and then back again. He will fill your mornings with fun and play, starting off your day on the right foot. Akio is moderate energy, which is nice in a husky. He enjoys short walks, couch time, brushing, fetch and tug of war. His favorite toys are rope toys and balls! Akio currently lives with children and does great with them. He is a very affectionate boy. We believe Akio would also be fine with other dogs with slow introductions. He is polite and respectful when he sees them out and about at the vet office or groomers. We are not sure how Akio would do with cats as he does not currently live with any. Akio is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for complimentary private and/or group training to help ensure a successful adoption. If you would like to meet Akio to see if he is a good fit for your family, please fill out our short adoption application: www.betterworldrescue.org/adoption-application Upon receipt of your application, one of our passionate volunteers will call within one business day to answer any questions and schedule a meet.
