Story
Creed came to us as an owner surrender in 2019, after living in the same home since he was a tiny puppy. He has since been adopted out 4 TIMES, and came back each time for adopters losing their homes, financial hardship, and other reasons like that that have absolutely NOTHING to do with Creed himself. Because honestly, Creed is one of our sweetest dogs we have here. He is quiet, he is calm, he is house trained, he is sweet, he is smart, he is great in the car, he is affectionate and oh yes, he is an adorable hippo! We are so upset for him, just imagine how he must feel, going from being in one home his whole life, to being in 4 different homes in 5 years. This cycle has to stop - we need to get him into his FOREVER home, one where his people will care for him for the rest of his life so he can finally, truly, understand what it`s like to feel safe. No dogs or cats for this hunky guy. Creed is currently in a foster home but at 13 years old (almost 14, although you`d never know it with his puppy-like personality) We would love nothing more than to see Creeds adoption papers SIGNED!If you are interested in learning more, please contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: adoption@hempsteadny.govE: rescue@hempsteadny.govT: 516.785.5220#AdoptCreed #upforadoption #takemehome #ideserveahome #happyhippo #hippoOrDog #dogsofinstagram #adoption #mystory #dogoftheday #adoption #rescue #rescueme #creed #pittiemix #XLbully #woof #dogsoffacebook

Story
Bella is a vibrant 4-year-old pup eager to find her forever home! She’s playful and sweet, offering plenty of soft eye contact while being a bit jumpy with excitement. Bella loves interacting with people more than toys and is very food-oriented. While she has shown no resource guarding and allows handling during mealtime, she has previously exhibited minor leash biting in the past but since working with staff and volunteers, has been doing amazing! Bella knows basic commands like `sit` and `wait` cues. At this time, Bella will be placed in a solo-pet only home. She’s best suited for a home with teens aged 16 and up. If you’re ready for a fun and loving companion, come meet Bella today! Story
Jada is a 3-year-old husky mix with a sweet, social personality and a playful spirit. Jada enjoys being around people and enjoys being pet. She walks well on leash, knows basic cues like sit, down, stay, and come, and has a fun, energetic play style with both people and other dogs. In a previous home, she did show some resource guarding with toys and chews, so she would do best with a dog-savvy family that can manage this behavior. Jada is recommended for homes with kids 14 and up and would thrive with an active adopter who understands her husky energy and playful nature. If you are interested in learning more contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: Adoption@hempsteadny.govE: Foster@hempsteadny.govE: Rescue@hempsteadny.govT. 516.785.5220#Adoptme #huskyrescue #adoptahusky #huskymix #takemehome #adoption #rescue #rescueismyfavoritebreed #opttoadopt #longislanddogs #longislanddogparents #adotions #dog #doggo #dogsofnewyork #newyorkcitydogs #NYCdogs #husky #rescuedog #nyadoptable #longislandanimalshelter #animalshelter #shelterdogs #shelterdog #shelterdogsrock #rescuedogsarethebest

Story
It`s so hard to follow Zena`s back story, but from what we gathered, it seems that her owner was evicted and left her behind, tied up to a tree with no food or water. We are heartbroken for this sweet girl, but we know her forever family is out there somewhere. Zena is very friendly with people, and is being recommended for a home with kids 13 and up. This 9 1/2 year old golden girl is very petite, weighing in at 54 slender pounds. She is house trained, crate trained, and knows `sit`, `down` and `touch`. Zena is looking for a household the will provide her with physical and mental stimulation (she loves to play & do treat mats). She is also a total couch potato inside, so what we are are saying is that she is the perfect mix of chill and `let`s play!`. Zena is in need of a solo pet home. She is currently in temporary foster care and being a rock star, but still searching for her forever home!Contact us to find out how to meet Zena!T: 516.785.5220E: adoption@hempsteadny.gov E: foster@hempsteadny.govE: rescue@hempsteadny.gov#adoptdontshop #dogsofinstagram #dogsofig #adoptmeny #bruisednotbroken #tohasdogs #dogsofny #dogsofnyc #dogsofli #adoptadogny #lookingforahome #longislanddogs #longislanddogmom #longislanddogdad #adoptionistheonlyoption #pittielove #pittiesrock #pitsrule

Story
Roxie is a sweet, playful terrier mix who enjoys interacting with people and exploring scents on walks. Roxie was surrendered to the shelter due to her former families change in lifestyle. She’s easy to leash, affectionate, and playful with toys. She can be wary of strangers but with time and patience she starts to warm up. She pulls a bit on the leash, so continued training upon leaving the shelter is recommended. Roxie would thrive in a home with young teens, 15+. and will have to be the only dog in the home. Don`t wait, come meet Roxie today! If you are interested in learning more contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: Adoption@hempsteadny.govE: Foster@hempsteadny.govE: Rescue@hempsteadny.govT. 516.785.5220#adoption #adoptme #newyorkadoptables #opttoadopt #mixedbreed #lovemydog #dogsofnewyork #longislandanimalshelter #animalshelters #cutepup #puppy #dog #doggo #rescuedog #rescue #rescued #ideserveachance #ideservelove #goodpup #dogcute #doglovers #pawfection #ilovemydog #dogofNY #adorabull #dogsofinsta #instadog
