Story
Meet Diesel – Powerful, Loyal, and Needs the Right Home Diesel is a 4-year-old Presa Canario weighing about 125–130 lbs. He is a strong, impressive, and deeply loyal dog who bonds closely to his owner. He is healthy, up to date on care, and in great physical condition. Diesel is very protective and territorial by nature, which makes him an excellent guard dog. He does best with confident, experienced handlers who understand large guardian breeds and can provide strong leadership, structure, and consistency. Unfortunately, due to his protective instincts, Diesel is not safe in a home with children, and for that reason, we are making the extremely difficult and responsible decision to find him a new home that better suits his needs. Diesel would thrive in: • A child-free home • Preferably no other pets • With someone experienced in large, dominant breeds • Someone who can provide structure, boundaries, and ideally continued training • A home with a secure yard and strong fencing

Story
Meet Stark! Stark is a shy, tender-hearted boy who came to us through a local shelter. While his past is a bit of a mystery, his gentle spirit shines through every day. He’s an inquisitive, sweet pup who gets along well with the other dogs at the rescue and is slowly learning to step into his confidence. Stark would do best in a calm home with adults or older kids who can give him the space and patience he needs to continue blossoming. He’s the kind of dog who thrives with kindness, encouragement, and a steady routine. This cutie is ready for his second chance at a first-class life — and with the right family, he’s sure to become the loyal, loving companion he’s meant to be. Story
Meet Reo – A Gentle Pup Looking for Love Oreo is a sweet and gentle dog who was surrendered to the shelter after experiencing seizures. Unfortunately, his previous owners didn’t seek the veterinary care he needed for this condition, but we are committed to getting him the proper care and figuring out exactly what’s going on. In the meantime, Oreo is currently on medication and doing well, and he’s been handling things like a champ! We are continuing to monitor his progress, and as soon as we have more information, we’ll update his bio. Oreo is in foster care, patiently waiting for his forever home. He’s sweet, well cared for, and ready to meet potential adopters. Come meet him—you might just fall in love!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 6, 2026, 7:17 am

COURTESY POST - Oscar is at Town of Hempstead ShelterThis playful pup is always ready for fun! Oscar loves running around, chasing toys, and savoring a good meal. He’s currently working on his manners when it comes to sharing food and is making great progress. Oscar’s zest for life is contagious — he’s happiest when he has space to stretch his legs or a cozy couch (or lap!) to curl up on.
