Got her from a police station in Jamaica Queens. Someone tied her up outside the prescient. Obviously abused as a puppy. She is a sweet dog. Loves kids. Loves to run and play with other dogs. Innocently mischievous. Adult companionship most of the day would be ideal

Story
Creed came to us as an owner surrender in 2019, after living in the same home since he was a tiny puppy. He has since been adopted out 4 TIMES, and came back each time for adopters losing their homes, financial hardship, and other reasons like that that have absolutely NOTHING to do with Creed himself. Because honestly, Creed is one of our sweetest dogs we have here. He is quiet, he is calm, he is house trained, he is sweet, he is smart, he is great in the car, he is affectionate and oh yes, he is an adorable hippo! We are so upset for him, just imagine how he must feel, going from being in one home his whole life, to being in 4 different homes in 5 years. This cycle has to stop - we need to get him into his FOREVER home, one where his people will care for him for the rest of his life so he can finally, truly, understand what it`s like to feel safe. No dogs or cats for this hunky guy. Creed is currently in a foster home but at 13 years old (almost 14, although you`d never know it with his puppy-like personality) We would love nothing more than to see Creeds adoption papers SIGNED!If you are interested in learning more, please contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: adoption@hempsteadny.govE: rescue@hempsteadny.govT: 516.785.5220#AdoptCreed #upforadoption #takemehome #ideserveahome #happyhippo #hippoOrDog #dogsofinstagram #adoption #mystory #dogoftheday #adoption #rescue #rescueme #creed #pittiemix #XLbully #woof #dogsoffacebook

Story
Zelda is a 2-year-old terrier mix with a heart as big as her personality. This sweet girl came to the shelter as a stray and is still learning that the world, and the people in it can be pretty wonderful. She can be a little cautious when first meeting new folks, but give her a moment (and a few tasty treats!) and you’ll see her tail start to wag and her soft, affectionate side shine through. Once Zelda warms up, she’s a total lovebug! Zelda loves to play whether it’s entertaining herself, engaging with her handler, or romping around with other dogs. Tug toys are a favorite, and while she can get a bit excited during play, she’s treat-motivated and happy to trade toys when asked. Zelda would do best with a patient adopter who understands that she may need a little time to feel comfortable but the reward is a playful, loyal companion who’s eager to bond. If you’re looking for a spunky, sweet terrier mix who’s ready to keep learning and loving, Zelda might just be your girl.If you are interested in learning more contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: Adoption@hempsteadny.govE: Foster@hempsteadny.govE: Rescue@hempsteadny.govT. 516.785.5220#Adoptme #adoptionistheoption #takemehome #adoption #rescue #rescueismyfavoritebreed #opttoadopt #longislanddogs #longislanddogparents #adotions #dog #doggo #dogsofnewyork #newyorkcitydogs #NYCdogs #nycrescuedog #rescuedog #nyadoptable #longislandanimalshelter #animalshelter #shelterdogs #shelterdog #shelterdogsrock #rescuedogsarethebest

Story
Nash was rescued from North Shore Animal League. He was 6 months when we got him. His birthday is 2/22/22. He will be 4 years old soon. Nash is loving and full of energy. I take him running with me weekly up to 10 miles at a clip. Nash loves every minute of the run. He is fully trained and house broken. Nash is food motivated and does amazing with training. He is great with other dogs and cats. My family has grown since we got Nash and he does not do well with small kids. I have 3 kids all under 6 years old. He has never bit anyone but he growls at my two year old everyday. It breaks my heart but I have to find him a new home. He is perfect for a family with older kids. I have to move him quick otherwise he is going to a shelter and I do not want to do that. If interested and want to take Nash we can help out with some of the care aspect. We will work something out. He needs a great home because he is a great dog.

Story
Champagne is a sweet 3.5 year old terrier mix with a gentle heart and a shy, lovable personality. Since arriving in August 2024, he’s made amazing progress and is now enjoying walks (with minimal pulling), showing off his tricks like sit and paw, and having a blast on the agility course! While he’s a little cautious with new people, Champagne is a calm, quiet companion who would thrive in an adult-only home with no other pets and patient humans ready to help him gain confidence. With love and encouragement, this shy sweetheart will blossom into your devoted best friend! If you are interested in learning more contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: Adoption@hempsteadny.govE: Foster@hempsteadny.govE: Rescue@hempsteadny.govT. 516.785.5220Wantagh Long Island, New York#Adoptme #adoptionistheoption #takemehome #adoption #rescue #rescueismyfavoritebreed #opttoadopt

Story
Jada is a 3.5 year husky mix full of sweetness, wiggles, and playful energy! She loves people, snuggles, and interactive play, and she’s a pro at basic cues like sit, down, stay, and come. Jada has a fun, bouncy personality with both people and dogs, though she would do best in a dog-savvy home because of some toy and chew guarding. She’s looking for an active family with young teens who can keep up with her husky energy and love her playful spirit!
