Story
Coming soon in Salt Point! Meet Baby Blue a diamond in the ruff. He is a blue healer mix who is around 2 years old. He came into the shelter as a stray so nothing is known about his earlier life but since coming to my house he has been working on manners and basic obedience. This will need to continue in his new home. He is a big dog at 65 pounds and can be pushy, rude, and sometimes pulls hard while on leash. He loves to cuddle and will force himself onto your lap and flip your hand to make you pet him. He is very active and needs a home who will exercise his body and mind. No cats or small children, he will knock them down, but older dog savy kids are ok. He loves to chew bones, is good loose in the house, and sometimes sleeps upside down in the cutest way. Baby Blue gets along with all the dogs in the house and needs a fenced in yard to run and sunbathe. He is currently in foster in Salt Point, NY. If this cute boy sounds perfect for you , please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
IN Ballston Spa: Shiloh is a 4.5 month old beautiful, loving, and curious merle standard male Aussie. Shiloh and his 3 brothers were born on a farm as an accidental litter, so before they came into foster homes, they didn't know much about living indoors. In the short few weeks that he's been living with his foster families, Shiloh is learning to be a wonderful house puppy! Shiloh loves to love and be loved: running to you and wagging his tail if you call his name, greeting you after his nap, or wanting to sit on your lap and cuddle when you’re nearby. Shiloh sleeps through the night in his play pen and is in the process of being slowly introduced to a crate! He's still a bit spooked by cars and stairs, but in the meantime, he doesn't mind getting a gentle lift from his foster human when he needs it. Stairs and cars aside, he’s a very confident puppy willing to try new things! Shiloh is easygoing and social – excited to interact with other dogs, has met children and done very well with them, but like your typical Aussie, keeps a close eye on his humans and prefers to be close by to them. And like any puppy, would benefit from continued positive reinforcement training and overall rules and structure in his new home. Shiloh would thrive in a home with humans that are looking for a devoted Aussie companion and will put in the work to make him the best dog he can be. He would welcome a home with other dogs (although he'd also do fine solo), would be fine with dog-savvy kids who want to be involved in his training, and will need further socialization to build his confidence and make him a well-rounded doggie citizen. If Shiloh seems like he would be the perfect fit for your home, apply to meet him soon! Shiloh is being fostered in Ballston Spa, NY. Here is the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family and a REFUNDABLE $50 neuter deposit that will be refunded upon proof of procedure.

Story
Honest Abe came to the shelter as a stray and is estimated to be about 8-10 months old. Abe is smart as a whip and has a true working dog personality- we believe he may be part Belgian Malinois based on his looks and drive- he loves having a job to do! He is seeking an active, dog experienced family with no young children that is dedicated to continuing his training. Honest Abe gets along with other dogs but can be a bit of a rough player- he would be best with another dog that matches his energy and play style. If you are interested in learning more about Honest Abe please give us a call at 516-869-6311 or email us at animalshelter@northhempsteadny.gov. *Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only. If you arrive at the shelter without an appointment to meet a dog, we may not be able to assist you. Please call the shelter (516-869-6311) during working hours (Mon. to Fri. 9AM-4PM; Sat. 10AM-4PM) for more information about this dog, the adoption process at the shelter, and to confirm availability. Please go to www.theshelterconnection.org for more information about and directions to the shelter.
