Story
Drako is a 4 Year Old Boxer Pitbull mix. He is an extremely funny, loving, kind, caring dog who needs someone to give him the time he deserves. He does have some trauma from when he was a puppy, he was bit by other dogs that were being fostered and developed a fear. We went to training but it does take him time to open up. I have two pitbulls, who both need more attention from me, and I believe, in the right home, Drako will be a lot happier. If you’re looking for a dog who will go anywhere with you, that will cuddle you and can keep you on your toes, he is definitely the dog for you. I would love someone experienced since he does have some trauma but he loves any and all people. He is always perfect for the adventurous owner! Great on hikes, runs and long walks.

Story
This is Larry! Larry & Kiki are the sweetest and most iconic mother and son duo that exists outside of Anderson Cooper and Gloria Vanderbilt. This delightfully eccentric pair of senior chihuahuas live for snuggles, snoozing, and snacks. Their story is a sad one - they were recently surrendered by their loving lifelong guardian when he became homeless, and to his great relief we took the duo so he could focus on getting back on his feet. Both dogs arrived in rough shape. Kiki needed surgery on her back feet so she could walk, and Larry had severe dental disease (and breath that could only be described as “crypt-like”). The dogs have now recovered from their medical procedures, and have adjusted very well to life in their Foster Mom’s house, where they also live with a cat and a large dog. Larry, who looks just like a handsome little Fox, arrived at his Foster Mom’s with a lot of stress and anxiety when new people tried to touch him, but he has since become the snuggliest dog! In fact, so snuggly and adorable that you’ll be tempted to carry him around like a purse. Once he trusts you, he just wants pets and to be wherever you are. Kiki, or Dobbie the House Elf, is the happiest girl who loves food and to snuggle up next to you. Did we mention she loves food? She can hear you open a string cheese from across a highway, and then you’ve never seen an old gal move so quickly. Both dogs are pad-trained and love little walks. They are perfectly comfortable and pleasant with both dogs and cats (Larry especially likes to say hi to dogs on walks), but their absolute favorite is a loving person. They are happiest sitting next to you on the sofa, or sleeping at your feet. You can tell these dogs were loved by their previous guardian, and they will absolutely adore their new one. Let us know if you want to add this mother-son pair to your family! Their adoption fee will be discounted in order to keep these bonded family members together. Hello@TheGLDR.org

Jackie

Australian Shepherd

Female, 5 yrs 1 mo
New York, NY
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Jackie is a 5-year-old Australian Shepherd who weighs about 59 lbs and brings together everything you love about the breed: intelligence, curiosity, and a warm, loving nature. She’s house-trained, crate-trained, and already knows commands like Sit and Place, with leash skills improving every day. On walks she’s wonderfully exploratory, always interested in her surroundings, but once inside she settles easily and enjoys relaxing with her people. She’s generally very friendly with other dogs, though her herding instincts can come out around smaller pups (classic Aussie behavior!). Jackie thrives with mental stimulation and clear structure, and she connects deeply with the people in her life. She’s a beautiful, affectionate dog who will be an incredible companion for someone who appreciates a smart, engaged partner by their side. Approved adopters interested in Jackie can email adopt@hbrdogs.com for more info. If you’re not approved yet, apply today at hbrdogs.com.

Nana

Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)

Female, 10 mos
New York, NY
Size
(when grown) Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Nana is a 10-month-old, 12-lb terrier mix with a gentle spirit and a shy temperament. She’s incredibly sweet, soft, and sensitive, and she approaches the world with quiet caution. Nana is crate-trained and feels safest in her cozy den, which helps her settle and decompress when things feel overwhelming. She will need an adopter who can move at her pace, offer reassurance without pressure, and celebrate small steps forward. She’s still nervous about being outdoors and is learning that the world isn’t as scary as it seems, so patience and routine will be key in helping her gain confidence. Nana isn’t the kind of dog who walks in and steals the show, she’s the one who slowly blossoms into the most loyal, trusting companion once she feels safe. If you believe shy dogs deserve just as much love and are willing to give time, understanding, and gentle guidance, Nana will reward you with a deep and lasting bond. Approved adopters interested in Nana can email adopt@hbrdogs.com for more info. If you’re not approved yet, apply today at hbrdogs.com.
