She is a lower energy sleepyhead with a few energy bursts when playing outside but usually she's happy being a couch potato. Since being in her foster home, she's working on her socialization and confidence around new people... she tends to be timid and avoid contact initially. Hazel really loves going on walks and would be a happy hiking companion, and she does best with another doggy role model. She is content doing her own thing and just relaxing nearby... she slowly comes out of her shell and starts to join her people more. Beezus is extremely loyal to her people and really tries to please them. She’s the sweetest dog ever, her only vice is she can be reactive on a leash and it takes her a minute to warm up to new people/new dogs, but once she trusts you she will just be on top of you cuddling all day long. Her foster says "I would say she needs someone with experience with reactive dogs because it can be a little intense at first if you don’t know her. I always put a muzzle on her when she meets new dogs and if I have new people over I generally distract her with a frozen kong in her crate and then she’s perfectly fine. She’s seriously one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever met, I hate that she has such a hard time with new people because I want everyone to see that side of her." It takes Harley a couple of months to warm up to new people and new places, but once she is comfortable she's a love bug. She needs a home who is willing to take things at her pace, which MUST include ignoring her completely for the first few months until she comes to you. She does not like to go on walks, she enjoys a good yard with a nice chair to sunbath and being a homebody, sneaking herself under a blanket for a good nap. If you are looking for a pup to take with you everywhere, Harley is not for you. Harley does well with other animals in the home who are also willing to go at her pace. Harley needs someone willing to put in the work, but also do nothing. It took her 3 months to become comfortable in her foster home. We know the right family for her is out there!
