Story
Taco deserves so much more than being thrown out of a car!  Seriously people!  This little Chihuahua has a lot to offer someone and we are excited to help him find his forever home. Like most Chihuahuas he is nervous at first but once he is comfortable he is right in your lap. His age is unknown but we think maybe ten. Chihuahuas seem to live a long time so don't overlook this little guy. We prefer a settled home for him and if you know the breed, you get it! He seems to like smaller dogs better than larger dogs but that is often common with Chihuahuas as well. He has a soft side and just needs a day or two to get used to new surroundings. Taco loves to go for walks and is really settling in.   He is new to our program and we will be updating his bio in the next couple of days but if you want to get the jump on applying for him, email storkwoods@comcast.net. This is the best way to get an adoption application. Taco is being fostered in  Middle TN but we do have transport available to fabulous adopters in the NE.

Story
Hi! My name is Carly. I’m a one and a half year old, black and tan, female and we believe my breed to be Australian Kelpie or an Australian Shepherd mix. Mainly I am mixed with love!  I am a very happy, energetic, loyal, alert, eager and extremely intelligent young dog with puppy like tendencies. Due to my breed, I am capable of untiring work and endless energy if so desired. I would fit in best with an active lifestyle that includes lots of opportunities to exercise in a large fenced-in yard where I can zip around and show off my athleticism. I can run really fast! My foster mom says I’m like a bullet when I’m running at top speed! Kelpies and Australian Shepherds prefer to have a job to do as they were created to herd sheep and cattle. I will need stimulation and small tasks to keep my mind active and my energy in check. A good jog or a workout combined with the mental exercise of obedience lessons would help me be my best version of myself. The mental exercise that the training provides would be a great way to keep me happy and involved. Training me for agility, obedience and rally are some great ways to give me some exercise. And although I sound like a lot of work, I can be chill as well so don’t be scared off!  I would be an excellent choice for adults and/or families with older (teenage) children that love to play and keep me entertained. WhiIe I love being super energetic, I also have an 'off’ switch too. I’m super happy if you take me out for a run, but I will be just as happy to settle down and snuggle on the couch afterwards to watch a movie. I enjoy being walked twice a day to sniff the neighborhood and do my business. I currently know how to sit and leave it. My foster mom is teaching me some additional words and some other useful commands as well. I am a quick learner! When you meet me you will notice that I have a great smile, love being petted, enjoy fetching and chewing on tennis balls, playing tug with my rope toy, and getting belly rubs. Scratches behind my ears make me very happy as well. I apologize upfront as I can be a bit bossy with other dogs…sorry…kind of a breed characteristic, so I would prefer to be an only dog and cats make my “chase” button turn on, so best to avoid those as well. But don’t worry, I can certainly fill up your home with lots of fur baby fun!        If you would like to open your heart and your home to me, please email storkwoods@comcast.net directly. This is the BEST way to get an application.

Story
Meet Bedford: Rescue Heart Needed This cutie is looking for a special home that recognizes all what he has been through. He was caught in a trap along with his brother and did not do well at the shelter. Bedford seems young at about a year old and isn't daunted by bigger size dogs. However, he becomes fearful in new situations. We think he is just scared and probably limited in life experiences and feel like most of his behaviors comes from this fear. Once he is comfortable he is very affectionate and acts like a silly puppy. Bedford just needs some TLC. He seems to prefer women over men and seems to bond with one person very intently. He would probably be ok in a home with just a male although the bond might take a bit longer. If he goes to a home with both a male and a female, the male just needs to ignore him and let him gain confidence with him first. We would love for someone retired to adopt him or someone who works from home. Bedford seems to be young but we will know more after his vet appointment. If you have worked with a scared dog before, then he will be pretty easy to manage as he is affectionate and fun once he gets comfortable. We will work on getting him groomed as well. A lot of potential for the right person!! If you would like an adoption application, email storkwoods@comcast.net.
