Story
Dog sitting and owner never returned. This has been difficult because we are not a pet family. The dog housed in garage, he seems to prefer to be outside. He does not like the basement and will not go down there. He is playful and I little clumsy. He has not shown any aggressive behavior towards any of our guest including children. He has gotten out of the yard a couple times, once he was sitting at bus stop with kids he did not know. When people walk dogs by the fence he runs back and forth barking. I think he is a sweet dog but we can't manage him. We tried to get him in a no kill shelter and was not able to. We have many family events at the home with different people and again no issues

Story
Cannoli is a 10-pound, multi-colored Pomeranian. She is approximately 7 yrs old. She came to Dogs Unlimited Rescue after a kind Good Samaritan found her in heartbreaking condition. This tiny girl was severely matted, dirty, hungry, thirsty, and covered in fleas and ticks. Despite everything she has endured, Cannoli is as sweet as can be. She loves being with her people, enjoys sitting by your side soaking up affection, and has a very calm, loving personality. With her beautiful multi-colored coat, sweet eyes, and gentle nature, it is easy to see why everyone who meets her falls in love. Cannoli appears to do well with other small friendly dogs, walks nicely on a leash, and is doing great with her house training. She is also completely crate trained and settles comfortably in her crate. While we have not had the opportunity to test her with cats, we do not anticipate any issues. Because of her small size and mature age, we believe Cannoli would thrive in a home with older, respectful children (10 years and older) who can appreciate her gentle nature and provide a calmer environment. Cannoli has already had a thorough veterinary evaluation. The good news is that all of her bloodwork came back looking good. Unfortunately, she did test positive for Lyme disease and is currently being treated with doxycycline. Her veterinarians expect her to make a full recovery. It is important to note that once a dog tests positive for Lyme disease, they can continue to test positive for years afterward, even after successful treatment. As part of her workup, Cannoli also had X-rays and an ultrasound performed to establish a baseline and help determine whether she had previously been spayed before undergoing surgery. Her X-rays did reveal some arthritis in her hips, and one hip appears to be slipping in and out of place. However, most of the time this does not slow her down. She will need steps to get on/off furniture and a home with carpet/rugs due to her hip issues. Slippery floors will be a challenge for her. Cannoli was spayed and had her dental on 6/10. She had a lot of teeth pulled and will need to be on a soft/canned food diet as a result. She will be available for adoption in approximately 2 weeks after she has had time to fully heal.

Story
Nora is a wonderful, beautiful, sweet Husky, who we rescued at the end of 2024. She is a dream to walk and run with. She does well with our 7 and 10yo and our other dog (10lb) and cat but we introduced them gradually and don’t know if this will translate to other cats, dogs and kids. According to the staff where she boards, she does well with older male dogs. We have just become too busy to be able to provide her with the amount of exercise and attention she deserves so want to find her a better suited family. She would be great with a person or family that goes hiking or running regularly. She is still a husky so some experience is probably helpful.

Story
Say hello to ApolloApollo is a 6 year-old Pitbull mix who weighs 85 lbs! Apollo is a happy go lucky boy who may need a few yummy treats in order to feel comfortable. He enjoys playing with toys or lounging on the couch, but he also loves a nice long walk. Once he knows you, he is very affectionate and can`t wait to smother you with kisses. Apollo can be nervous with new dogs and needs a slow introduction to form a lasting bond. With management and a gentle hand, he shows potential to live with another dog, but he would likely prefer to be the only dog in his forever home so he can soak up all of your love! Apollo does not show potential to live with cats in his forever home. Since he can be sensitive at first, if there kids in his forever home he would do best with kids ages 13 and older. If Apollo sounds like he might be a good fit, stop in today to meet this handsome pup!

Story
Meet Achilles!Achilles is a goofy 5 year old 60 pound male pitt-mix ready to find his forever home and forever family! Sweet but sensitive in nature, Achilles may take a little longer than the average pup to warm up to new people and places, but once he does, he transforms into a bouncy happy pup. Playful and sweet, Achilles is equal parts activity and affection. He loves chewing on a squeaky toy as much as he enjoys spending time with his favorite humans.Achilles shows potential to live with other pups in his forever home, however he will need a slow introduction as he can come on to his canine companions quite strong. A slow intro will help ensure that both Achilles and his new pup pal feel safe and comfortable as they adjust to each other`s presence. At this time we are unsure of how Achilles does with cats.Due to his sensitive nature, if there are children living in Achille`s forever home, we are requiring that they are 13+.Looking to give a sweet, goofy pup the loving home and endless play he needs? Stop by the Humane Society of Summit County today and meet Achilles, or call (330) 487-0333 ext. 803 for more information!
