Story
Charlie is a wonderful and very lovable dog. He’s going on nine years old (human years) and is all heart. He loves attention and gets along really nicely with virtually all people. He enjoys his down time and chills out a lot on top of shoes or a jacket or near a window. He’s a classic “nibbler” and eats when he is hungry. He loves being outside and is very curious. He was not brought up with any strict commands as this was not our focus, but he does respond to voices, etc.

Story
My coworker has a male and female Cane Corso and knew I was looking for a dog I could train to be my service dog. Training is too expansive for me at this time. Luna is a great dog and protective. My aliments won’t allow me to be active with her as I should be and my daughter is scared of her. I think its unfair to both of them. I want her to have a good home where she can be properly trained and be free to be a great dog.

Story
In Olmsted Township - Hey everyone! Let us introduce you to Mr. Max R. Roni. Max is an almost 7 year old Australian Shepherd. He’s had a sad past, losing his home, his mom and dad and now looking for a forever home to accept him as he is. It’s time for Max to find his furever home and thrive. Max came to ASF grossly overweight. He has been with his foster for several months trying to get some of his weight off and to help him be happy again. He’s lost a lot of weight already and is feeling much better. Max is a gentle old soul. When in the house, he’s pretty chill… he’ll find his spot and most of the time he’ll hang there alone. He will bring you his tennis ball (his FAVORITE toy) and wants you to toss it once he gives it to you. Max really loves butt rubs and being petted. He gets super excited to go outside and play ball or chase or catch a rolled Frisbee. When it’s time to quit, he just finds a spot to lay down. Max gets nervous on car rides and isn’t a fan. He’s very content staying at home. Walks are okay; he’s a bigger boy so he does pull some. Max is great left in the house all day: no accidents, no destruction. He does like the couch and would prefer to share your bed. Max has an issue with resource guarding toys… all toys belong to Max. Thus, a home with a submissive female or as an only dog would be best. His submissive 2 year old female foster sister Aussie plays chase with him but will drop any toy she has when Max comes near. He wasn’t nice the first time, so she just lets him have any toy. (The male Aussie in the house did not back down and this didn’t go well at all.) Due to his resource guarding, a home with small children would not be advised nor any dominant dog. Max is a sweet boy who just needs to find the right home. Someone to pet him on the couch, toss the ball for him once in while, take him out in the yard while you work or enjoy sitting and watching the day pass. Max is neutered, microchipped, UTD on vaccines, housebroken, crate trained, and on HW/flea prevention. He is currently being fostered in Olmsted Township, OH. There is an additional $20 fee to transfer his microchip to his new owners. All adoption fees go to help rescue other dogs like Max. Story
Meet our life of the party pup-Phantom! Phantom is a breath of fresh air with his playful energy and resilient spirit. Phantom spent a few weeks on the run from animal control officers, seeking shelter outside, terrified of the humans trying to help him. Eventually, they gained his trust and we were thrilled to watch him blossom here. With his outgoing nature, you would never suspect he was shut down or fearful. He is always up for an adventure, cuddle session, play time and much more. Phantom joins our playgroups daily and enjoys other playful dogs the most. At this time, we believe his perfect home would consist of a playful canine companion and adult only. Unless there are older children at home that know how to handle energetic dogs. Phantom would love a foster home, foster-to-adopt or forever pawrents! Email us today at foster@cuyahogacounty.gov or stop on in to meet him!

S-P-I-R-I-T! We have Spirit, what `bout you? Do you want Spirit? WE KNOW YOU DO!Meet our energetic and dainty girl, Spirit. The way to Spirit`s heart is through the game of fetch, she has perfected this game and will play it all day if she could. She has become very outgoing and engaging, happy to meet new people and try new things! Spirit has come a long way in the area of leash manners, learning to walk closer to you and quietly look at other dogs while out and about. She would prefer to be the only pet at home though so she can just get all the one-on-one time with her people. We do recommend kids 10 & up for Spirit at this time, She would love a foster break, foster-to-adopt home or forever home! You can reach out to us at foster@cuyahogacounty.gov or stop on in to meet with her!

Story
Dagwood has come a long way since arriving at our shelter in October. When he first came in, he was underweight, battling chronic skin issues, ear infections, and had cloudy eyes—but thanks to our dedicated medical team and the power of medicated baths, biopsies, and a limited-ingredient diet, he’s making huge strides in his recovery! While medical care has been essential, love and attention from volunteers and shelter friends have also helped Dagwood bloom. Now, he’s ready for the next step in his journey—a forever home! What Dagwood Needs in a Home:- A social, similarly sized resident dog—this is a must! Dagwood thrives with other dogs and will do best with a confident, friendly companion.- A patient adopter—he’s shy with new people and may need a few visits to form a bond before heading to your home.- No kids—due to his nervousness with new people, an adult-only home is best or one with older children (12+)What We’ve Learned from His Recent Overnight Stay in foster:- Fully housebroken- Fit in perfectly with a pack of dogs-Loves to cuddle, play, and run around- Sleeps through the night on a dog bed-Warmed up to a hesitant situation—was initially nervous around a man in the home but slowly built trust and eventually jumped up on the couch for pets!Dagwood’s ideal forever home will give him the time and support he needs to feel safe, while also helping him continue his healing journey. If you have a social pup who would love a buddy, Dagwood could be the perfect fit! If interested in learning more about Dagwood and the adoption process, please email the shelter foster team at foster@cuyahogacounty.gov today. Please note Dagwood is not available for same time meet and greets.
