Story
Bruno went to Hollywood Feed in Avon and he was the star of the show!! We just can't believe he is still HOMELESS! Bruno is approximately 3-4 yrs old, Pit/Boxer mix, 54 lbs. This guy was abandoned in Avon Lake, no one claimed him or recognized him? ;-(. We had him neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and he tested negative for HW. He is a great dog! Bruno is housebroken and crate-trained. We named him Bruno because he has the moves like Bruno Mars HA!! He already seems to know his new name;-) He is very treat-motivated and knows his basic commands. He likes other dogs and loves to act like a HAM!! He has a BIG smile and awesome personality. He completed his "board and train" program and is ready for his forever home or temporary foster! He does have a lot of energy so will need an active owner. If you are interested in Bruno, please submit an online application, so we can learn a little about you to make sure Bruno would be a good match for you and your family. We do not do out of state adoptions, due to our trial adoption process. Adoption fee/donation is $ 100.00 If you have specific questions, please email the adoption coordinator at info@loveastraydog.com If you can't foster or adopt, please consider donating to help us with the board and train expenses and medical expenses. You can mail your donation to: Love-A-Stray, P.O. Box 125, Attn: Bruno, Avon Lake, OH 44012 or visit www.loveastraydog.com for credit card/PayPal information, adoption application, available dogs and upcoming events. Thank you!

Story
Meet Lily!! A very sweet and gentle Portuguese Water Dog. Lily is almost 5 years old, DOB 12-31-20. She weighs 32 lbs. Love-A-Stray had her spayed, completely vaccinated, and she is micro-chipped. Lily is scheduled for a professional grooming at Polished Paws for a traditional PWD cut. Lily lived with her confident littermate since she was a puppy and depended on her to set the tone. Now her littermate has been adopted, and Lily is working on building her own confidence. Lily really is a special sweet doggo. She gets a little startled by loud noises, BUT she makes the effort to come and see what is happening—she doesn’t just run and hide. She is adjusting very well and doing better each and every day. Lily would love a home with another dog, and she will require a fenced-in yard (not electric) so she has the freedom to run and play. She LOVES to cuddle and sit on your lap too! She will follow her human around the house. ;-) Lily is working on walking well on lead. Her foster said she is doing really well. She does, however, love going outside to explore in her fosters fenced-in yard. Lily is crate trained, but since she’s not a chewer and very well behaved, the fosters has given her free run of multiple rooms, and Lily does great and can be trusted "home alone". Lily is completely potty trained. She also knows the meaning of “no.” if she decides to stand on her hind legs to see what's on the counter LOL. She really listens well. Lily sleeps in a dog bed at night and stays in bed all night and doesn’t wander. She also loves to nap in her bed during the day—a lot! 😄 She will make a great dog for the right person. A low-key environment would be best. Lily is not a super high-energy dog. She’s mostly cuddly or nappy after a couple of outside bouts. If you are interested in Lily, please submit an online application, so we can learn a little about you to make sure Lily would be a good match. We do not do out of state adoptions, due to our trial adoption process. Adoption fee/donation is $ 350.00.00 completely vetted. If you have specific questions, please email the adoption coordinator at info@loveastraydog.com If you can't foster or adopt, please consider donating to help us with medical expenses and ongoing care. You can mail your donation to: Love-A-Stray, P.O. Box 125, Attn: Lily, Avon Lake, OH 44012 or visit www.loveastraydog.com for credit card/PayPal information, adoption application, available dogs and upcoming events. Thank you!

Story
Ruby was found dumped by previous owners. We have fostered her for 2 years and desperately need to find her a new home because of our situation. She is a sweet girl that loves to play and cuddle. She is shy at first, but then overly loving. Her underbite makes her stand out from the rest as it will make you laugh all the time. Her sweet face always changes.

Meet Sasha!! She is 3 years old, 58 lbs. Sasha is a really sweet and well-behaved girl!! She has a stocky build and beautiful gray/blue fur. Sasha walks great on lead and really listens to your commands. Sasha likes to take car rides too! Sasha appears to like other dogs, but we are doing a formal evaluation with a trainer to confirm. Story
Meet Ghost!! Ghost is approximately 2 years old. He is a beautiful Siberian Husky weighing 40 lbs. Ghost was found as a stray. Love-A-Stray had him neutered, vaccinated and microchipped at the Avon Lake Animal Clinic. Ghost's foster said he is really a wonderful dog! He is housebroken and knows a few basic commands. His foster has offered to take Ghost to obedience training, and he will be evaluated with other dogs as well. Stay tuned for updates. Ghost has dark ice-blue eyes, and he often looks like he is smiling when taking a walk--he LOVES to go for trail walks and does well on lead. Ghost also loves to ride in the car. He is a pleaser and thrives on praise and is very trainable. We always suggest adopters are familiar with the Husky. A fenced in yard is preferred for this active breed and a really good vacuum cleaner since they do shed LOL. If you are interested in Ghost, please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure Ghost would be a good match for you and your family. Scarlett

Cairn Terrier Dachshund

Female, 11 yrs 1 mo
Avon Lake, OH
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Good with dogs, Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Meet Scarlett!! Scarlett is a cranky senior, 11 years old, who has not had a great life! She originally came from the Lorain County Kennel as a stray. She had a skin infection from fleas, double ear infections and basically no hair on her back. Fast forward after some TLC all her hair has grown in, and her ears have been treated. She is spayed and completely vaccinated. We had an x-rays done to see if she had any back issues that would explain her fear of being picked up, but the Doctor said she just had some age-related arthritis. Scarlett is 32 Lbs. (should weigh about 28#). Scarlett is house-trained, crate-trained, and is a well-behaved house dog. Scarlett is looking for the right person to love her how she is and understand that she is looking for a roommate who will just let her live out the rest of her golden years. Scarlett is NOT a lap dog, and she will not tolerate being picked up. We think something in her past has made her very reactive to being picked up. She is a bossy Terrier mix, at first, but once she trusts you, she will seek pets on her terms. Scarlett is looking for someone that just wants a house dog to watch TV with and just hang out. She needs a fenced in yard so she can have the freedom to wonder around. She does well with other dogs and will even engage play, once she is comfortable with them. She has been conditioned to wear a muzzle when grooming or vetting was required. She tolerates the muzzle, once she trusts you. She has never bitten anyone but will try to snap if you try to pick her up. She is very food and treat motivated so she will respond to going into her crate for a treat and does not mind traveling in a crate, in the car. Scarlett just needs an experienced owner with no kids because kids would want to pick her up. If you are interested in Scarlett, please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure Scarlett would be a good match for you. Adoption fee/donation is $50.00 If you have specific questions, please email the adoption coordinator at info@loveastraydog.com If you can't foster or adopt, please consider donating to help us with medical expenses and ongoing care. You can mail your donation to: Love-A-Stray, P.O. Box 125, Attn: Scarlett, Avon Lake, OH 44012 or visit www.loveastraydog.com for credit card/PayPal information, adoption application, available dogs and upcoming events. Thank you!
