Story
Sweet Ginger is being returned to us after being in a home about 5 months.  They loved her and are heartbroken but Ginger has high prey drive for free roaming chickens.  That being said she must have a secure fenced in yard, a privacy fence is preferred or at least one that is 5 ft high.  She seems to be fine with other dogs after a proper introduction including small ones.  Ginger could also flourish as an only dog as she loves her people.  She has not been around cats so we are unsure but based on her prey drive a home without cats would be best.   Children should be older and respectful.  Ginger is about 8 years old and 50 lbs, a nice manageable size. She is fully vetted and had a dental last fall.   Ginger is housetrained and loves to ride in the car.  She can be left with the run of the house while you are gone without issue.  Ginger has the most adorable smile, we think it is adorable.   If interested in Ginger, please email hartmanshounds@gmail.com.  Her adoption fee is $150.November 26, 2023, 12:56 pm

Story
Meet Luna. She was given up by an Amish Breeder. Luna is a Mini Aussie, 5 years old and 26 lbs. She is fully vetted and ready for a home, a loving real home.  Luna does have a condition called dry eye and will need lifelong daily medicine in her eyes. We though she may have some vision loss due to it being untreated but after a visit with an Ophthalmologist recently we were happy to learn that she does indeed have vision in both eyes but maybe not at 100% at this time.  She will be starting a new medicine with a follow up in December. She is so very sweet and dog friendly. Luna is also fine with cats and people. Maye a bit unsure at first meeting but absolutely no aggression.   She is most likely totally fine with respectful children . Luna is now living in a foster home and doing excellent.  She is house trained, crate trained and is learning how wonderful it is to be a part of a family. She rides great in the car and walks great on a leash. She actually walks right beside me when I drop the leash. I can’t say enough good about her, she is the real deal. We are insisting on a fenced yard and want her to have a canine companion. Her adoption fee is $225. If interested in Luna, please email hartmanshounds@gmail.com.November 26, 2023, 12:56 pm

Story
UPDATE:  Remi has gone into a foster home now and is doing great. Very laid back in the home. He has seen how the other half lives and he loves it. He is excellent in the home and will crate if necessary. He is very good in the crate and doesn’t mind when he has to be left alone.  He understands the house training idea but does wear a belly band at least initially in a new home. Remi is very smart and has learned a few commands.  I just can't say enough good about him and want him to find his loving home.  He is a great dog.    Remi was rescued from a southern OH dog shelter where he arrived as a stray.  He did test positive for heartworm and has undergone treatment for that.  There should be no further treatment necessary.  Remi is estimated to be about 6 years old and has gained much needed weight since he has been with us. Probably 60 pounds now. He is a very sweet boy typical of the hound breed and he is dog friendly.  Hounds have the best temperament.  He is a bit too interested in cats so a home without cats is necessary.  He should do well with older, respectful children.  He did meet my granddaughters and was excellent.  Due to his breed, Remi will need a fenced yard.  Remi's life until now doesn't appear to have been good so we hope to make the second half of his life the best.  His adoption fee is $185.  If interested in Remi, please email hartmanshounds@gmail.com.  November 26, 2023, 12:56 pm

Story
Meet Lacey. Lacey is a 8 month old Aussie/Doodle rescued from an Amish Breeder. She will need a patient adopter as she has never lived in a home although the short time she has been in a home she was mastering the house training. Lacey has made remarkable progress from being so afraid and unsocialized. She loves other dogs and we want her to have a canine companion preferably not too big as she learns to navigate life.  She should be fine with cats. Lacey will need a fenced yard and there can be no exceptions to that. We also would prefer a home that doesn’t have a lot of hustle and bustle. Her adoption fee is $250. If interested in Lacey, please email hartmanshounds@gmail.com.November 26, 2023, 12:56 pm

Story
We are heartbroken to announce that we need to find a new home for our wonderful dog, Bravo. He is an incredibly loving and sweet companion, who has been a source of immense joy and companionship, filling our lives with love since he was a tiny 3-month-old puppy. Now at 8 years old, he still exudes the energy and spirit of a much younger dog, despite being considered a "senior". Tragically, due to my husband's severe allergies, which we've tried tirelessly to accommodate, we're unable to continue offering the quality of life Bravo deserves. About Bravo: Health: He is in excellent health, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and well-cared for. Personality: Extremely loving and gentle, he is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. Training: 100% potty trained and well-behaved indoors. Lifestyle Needs: He thrives with regular exercise and loves to be active. Ideal Home: A loving owner who can offer him a warm and welcoming environment where he can roam freely and be part of the family.

Story
Kona came to us about five years ago from the storms/flooding in Tennessee, emaciated and lonely. my new wife and I gave Kona a 2nd chance, building her back up to health and a loving home. Kona is thriving, but doesn't like roughhousing, as our other dog in the house is an antagonist and has angrily snapped back at her. Here enters the reason for Kona needing a new home; my wife and I now have a 1 year old toddler who is starting to crawl around and be inquisitive. No one wants an accidental innocent tail pull to turn tragic. Kona unfortunately needs another home. She is 5, 60lbs, up to date on everything. She has always had pet insurance. Beautiful brindle coat with white chest. She doesn't really need as leash, although I rather use one in public, and she doesn't pull. She doesn't jump, is housebroken, well behaved and loving. Kona would be a perfect fit for empty nesters, recently retired or an established dog family with older children high end bed, leash, harness included.
