Story
We are looking for a loving new home for our sweet-natured 7-year-old Black Lab. He is crate trained and has been a wonderful, loyal companion and much-loved member of our family. Our son has always been his primary owner and caregiver. Now that our son is off to college, he is no longer able to give him the time and attention he needs. With my work schedule and caring for my 80-year-old mother who lives with me, I have come to realize that I am also unable to provide him with the active, fulfilling life he deserves. This is a difficult decision, and we want to find him a home where he will be loved, cared for, and included as part of the family. He has so much love to give and deserves a family who can give him the time, companionship, and attention he needs. We are hoping to find a responsible, loving home that understands the commitment of caring for a 7-year-old Lab and will give him the happy life he deserves.

Story
We are the wrong family for our sweet boy, Arlow. He is unhappy with our current arrangement. We are trying to find a home that would make him happier. Arlows needs:No other pets*No kids**Potentially only one owner (not a couple or a family)Would do better with a manA fenced yard (electric or physical)PatienceGentlenessSomeone fairly active and willing to walkExperienced dog ownerArlow can be aggressive and reactive. Mostly towards other pets but also humans. He bit my husband for getting in his space 6 years ago. He has not bit anyone since, but we work really hard to make sure he doesn't get the chance to. He will growl and snarl and snap if you get in between him and food or toys.He knows how to sit stay place. His recall is fairly good. He is crate trained. Has never been destructive in the home. He also stays in the yard really well. He has hound traits. He is noisy. And a hunter.

Story
Zoey is a 3 year old hound mix who is full of energy. She gets along great with other dogs and loves to go on walks. She will do well with an active family who will walk her and play with her. She has also done well with various kids of all ages she has met on her walks. She is still working on her potty training but has been doing well with only a few accidents in the house. We do believe she would benefit greatly from some obedience training as she does love to chew on one of the dog beds but can easily be redirected to chew on a toy. She does well in her crate while we are gone and through the night with no issues in our room. When feeding it would be best to feed her separate from other dogs as she has growled at the resident dogs when they were nearby while she was eating. She does not growl at us when we grab her food or move her bowl while eating. We think this stems from when she was a stray and wasn’t sure when her next meal would be. We are working on the growling and hoping she learns that she will always have a meal. She would do great with anyone and would love to be the next addition to your family. Apply to meet Zoey today at www.rescueahart.org!

Story
Meet Trenton! This good boy is the whole package! He is a mixed breed, best guess English pointer/boxer mix, and no one breed is evident. He is 2-year-old medium sized (55 pound) love bug who is gentle and adores kids. He is house trained. It does not appear he has been taught basic commands, but he should be a quick learner as he learned the doggy door ropes in a single day. The crate is not his favorite. He will go in when bribed with delicious treats and sleep quietly through the night. He mimics the vibe of the house by playing when we are active and snuggling on couch when we are quiet. He also gets along with other dogs, playing or backing off at the appropriate times. As he has settled into his foster home, he has started wrestling with the alpha dog of the house. Trenton deserves someone who will shower him with attention, car rides and rounds of fetch. He is everyone’s best friend, can he be yours? Trenton is neutered and up to date on all vaccines, flea and heartworm medication.

Story
Space is a 9 month old medium size dog. She loves other dogs and has done well with cats. Space needs a special adopter that will give her time to realize people aren’t so scary. She has made a TON of progress at her foster home but is still very timid at times. She gets SO excited to see you after work but still only wants to be pet on her own terms. She will do best in a home with no children, another dog to help build her confidence, and her own yard, as she is not leash trained. She is very fearful of the leash, leading us to believe she may have had a traumatic experience involving a leash before coming to HART. This dog absolutely loves to be comfy. All she wants is a comfortable bed or to curl up by your feet on the couch. If you’re looking for a playmate for your dog that does not beg for constant attention or a friend to keep your dog busy while you’re at work, Space could be a great choice for you. If interested in meeting Space please fill out an application at www.rescueahart.org!
