Story
Amos is a 7 y/o chocolate beagle mix who came to HBHR with a large group of beagles from a hoarding situation in the summer of 2023. It has taken a long time for any of these beagles to become socialized, but Amos has finally made it! Amos has good house manners with the use of a dog door. He will occasionally mark the food bowl of another male but that is more to do with alpha status than manners! He rarely destroys toys and leaves things alone unless they have touched food in the last month! His food drive is all beagle! Amos plays well with the pack and enjoys a good chase. He is alpha and will do best in a home with a more submissive partner. Amos has only recently started allowing people to pet him and really enjoys the attention. He does well around kids and would love having young people to chase around a yard! Amos has not made it to snuggling yet but seeks out one on one attention. He will get to that point, and it would be wonderful if he has a family of his own when he is ready for that next step!

Story
Levi came to HBHR along with several beagles rescued from a hoarding situation over 2 years ago. Levi was aged at 7 when rescued but all the dogs were in sad physical shape. I doubt if Levi is 9 years old. His coat has no grey and is his are bright! He has gained more pounds than he needed to but looks healthy at 26 pounds! Levi had a bonded buddy who died last summer. Since his loss of Cyrus, Levi has been more social. He comes out into the yard to interact with the others often and feels comfortable coming into his caretaker’s apartment to find a comfy place for a nap! Levi has great house manners. He rarely plays with toys and has never chewed on anything other than a milk bone! He is sweet natured and enjoys pets from people he knows. Levi has gone for an over-night visit with a volunteer and did well. He walks well on a leash. It will take Levi time to warm up to his new family, but it will be worth the time and effort!

Story
Denver is a 7-year-old Siberian Husky with a big heart and an even bigger personality. He is full of energy, incredibly sweet, and loves being close to his people. He thinks he is a lap dog despite his size and will happily soak up as much love and attention as you are willing to give.✅ Loyal & Loving; He forms strong bonds and thrives on companionship.✅ Kennel & Potty Trained; No accidents, no destructive behavior when crated.✅ Great with Kids; He is gentle but can be excitable and may jump when greeting new people.✅ Emotionally Attuned; He is incredibly sensitive to emotions and would make a great companion for someone needing extra support. As much as we love him, we are expecting our second child and know that he deserves more time, structure, and exercise than we can currently provide. He would thrive in a home with an active routine, and we believe someone who values consistency and companionship would be the perfect fit.

Story
We found Cappucino on the street in Mexico last September when he was a small puppy. My husband’s mother took him in for a while, but she already has other dogs and having another dog is too much work for her. Cappucino is friendly, clean and quiet and very attached to humans. He loves to be outside and go for a walk. While at home, he mostly chills. He got along well with the other dogs of my husband’s mother, but he still needs to get a little bit more used to meeting other dogs in the park or receiving visitors at home (once he gets to know them, he is very sweet, but in the beginning he sometimes barks). We are taking him out a lot at the moment, so that he gets used to it. He is obedient, but he is a young dog, so he still needs a bit of training. We were thinking about keeping him ourselves, but we are quite busy and we love to travel, so having a dog longterm is not the best fit for us at the moment. We would like to leave him with someone who loves to go outside with him.

I adopted June from Austin Pets Alive in 2017. She was 1 year old at the time. She is a very loyal, calm dog. She is very low maintenance and doesn’t require a lot She is very sweet with my and my husband but lately has shown aggression with my toddler. She also shows aggression to new people, as she is very territorial. She shows aggression towards other dogs. She is potty trained and I have never seen her bite.

Bree

Beagle

Female, Adult
Houston, TX
Size
(when grown) Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Bree is a beautiful 2 y/o who was found in a yard with a litter of 6 pus. The worried neighbor contacted HBHR and work with us to get the owner to release them all to HBHR when the pups were only 5 weeks old. Bree had to wait until she finished nursing to have her spay done. She has now completed 4 weeks of Doxycycline to start her off on her slow kill treatment for heart worms. Bree is a small beagle who is just about perfect at 25 pounds. She has good house manners and leaves things that so not belong to the pack alone, which is sometimes a problem with “yard” dogs. She uses the dog door with ease. Bree gets along with the other dogs well. As a young girl, she enjoys wrestling with the boys and will join in on the chase. She can be possessive so would need to be crated at meals if there is another dog in the home. Bree loves attention and can be possessive of the person she is cuddling up next to. She is sweet natured and will learn to share after she learns that she is now living the Good Life and there is lots of love to go around! Please apply today to have a chance at adopting this wonderful girl!
