Story
Misha was a shelter dog at the MD SPCA. She turns 4 years this November. She is an incredibly sweet and affectionate dog. She loves going for walks and is very food/treat motivated. Otherwise she loves taking long naps and finding weird places to lay around. She has a strong prey drive towards small animals. She is incredibly strong and fast so I would recommend walking tools like easy-walk or gentle leader. She sheds a lot and needs proper and regular grooming to maintain. She is also an escape artist and will try to escape given the opportunity. Loves water and swimming. She is hovering around 62lbs and eats about 3 Cups of kibble/day. Looking for a home that has a yard or other animals for her to socialize with. Needs a fair amount of activity.

Story
Pepper was adopted in October 2018 from a rescue in Alabama, and was probably 4-6 months old at the time. He is approximately 6 years old. He is a well behaved dog with a few small quirks... he as a little anxiety with new people coming into his home or his space, but after some gentle and structured introductions he does well. He gets along with most dogs as long as they are not overly eager. He does well with cats and has been living with two of them for the last 3 years. He loves to go on hikes, walks, play with balls and sticks, run free, swim... He has pretty decent recall and is very focused on his people. He mostly likes to cuddle on the couch and get belly and ear rubs. We are seeking a new home for him since we can not give him the time and attention he deserves, he would do well with a family that has older kids, or no kids, and enjoys taking their dog with them on adventures and gets outside more often. He is not a fan of the energy that little kids bring into the home.

Story
This very special little girl requires a very special home. Meet Luna Tuna. She is a 4 1/2 year old, cuddly, glued to your ankle, shadow that becomes a blanket hog at night. She has had quite the interesting life, was a show dog for a short period of time, but due to her not willing to be handled by dog show judges, she was rehomed, and that is how I obtained her 2 years ago. Now for the good and the not so good.... The Good: Luna bonds to one owner, is very loyal, extremely loving, will follow you everywhere you go. She is highly treat motivated and very trainable. She does very well walking on her leash and is crate trained. She spends most of her day sleeping, loves her food, she is completely house trained to go outside. The not so good... She doesnt like large dogs or children. She isnt friendly towards strangers and requires constant companionship. The rehoming fee is negotiable for a proper home. Meet and greet is necessary and she must be picked up in Riverdale, MD

Story
Brandi and her sister have been with us for quite a few months, their siblings have been adopted and doing great in their homes. She would love a home to call her own! She is currently in a home with other dogs and a cat and does wonderfully with everyone. Brandi can be shy at first, but is cuddly and loving once she gets to know you. She is very agile and would probably do great with some agility training! She is house trained and does great in a crate! She is looking for an active home who enjoys outdoor activities. She would love a fenced in yard because she loves to play outside. Right now, she is being fostered in Tennessee. The rescue lists in areas where transport is available. They use safe USDA licensed dog transports that will bring her to their new family, once they are adopted! Once you send an application, the rescue will contact you for an interview and be able to send more photos and even videos She is spayed and UTD on all required vaccinations. She is microchipped and on flea preventative. Please, you MUST click the following link BEFORE emailing for further information. Story
** I am currently being housed at our Oglethorpe St location. Come meet me at 71 Oglethorpe St NW, every day between 12pm-7pm. Please arrive no later than 6:30 p.m. to allow ample time to interact with adoptable dogs. Or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more. "Naomi" means "pleasant, gentle" and is often associated with compassionate women who faced many challenges throughout life. This fits me to a t! Before I came to the shelter, I went through a bit of a rough patch. When I arrived here, I had a bit of healing to do, but look at me today and you'd never know that. I am always sooo happy to see my favorite people here and this is when I may, for a moment, get a teeny bit excited and jumpy (of course just gently jumpy). Playing with toys in the yard is one of my favorite things and I can perfectly self-entertain myself while doing so!On walks, I sometimes get a bit scared -- could have something to do with the said rough patch. But I am getting bolder and braver here by the day -- I am sure we can figure this out. Will you be my pal in meeting life's challenges and cherishing its joys?
