Ollie is overall in good health! 2 years ago Ollie tore both rear ACLs but had TPLO surgery followed by 6 months of hydrotherapy physic therapy. He can do anything and everything a normal dog can. Ollie loves to be your best friend. He will often tag along as you roam around the house with a toy in his mouth and a wagging tail, just happy to be a part of your life.

Story
Meet Sara — Courtesy PostSara is a 74 lb mixed-breed dog who is ready for a fresh start in the right environment. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, and heartworm negative. Sara knows basic commands, is house trained and will go in a crate. Sara has been non reactive to cats. Sara has gone home with volunteers, attended off-site events, participated in meet-and-greets, and spent time with various new faces — all without incident. She has shown she can be a loving, affectionate and engaging companion.Sara does have instances of resource guarding behaviors, and this is something her future adopter must be prepared to manage and continue working on. A professional trainer has worked with and evaluated Sara and determined that while this behavior is trainable and manageable, it is not something that can be adequately addressed in a shelter setting but should not hinder her being adopted.Sara is currently thriving in a foster home, where she has undergone through training and continues to work on her behavior with structure, consistency, and guidance. She is making progress, but she will need an adopter who understands resource guarding and is committed to ongoing management and training. She walks well on a leash, however a fenced yard would be ideal. What Sara Needs to Succeed• Adult-only home• Calm, structured environment• No other pets at this time so her training can remain the focus (although she is NOT dog reactive, she just needs to focus on her own needs at this time)• Commitment to continued behavioral work and clear boundariesSara is a staff and volunteer favorite. She is affectionate, intelligent, and capable — she simply needs the right match and continued support.Sara has so much potential and deserves a home that will give her the chance she needs to truly shine! If you are interested in adopting Sara, please complete an adoption application, and we will reach out to you right away to schedule an appointment. ** Note, Sara is in a foster home, she is not currently housed at MCAC ** Sara`s adoption fee is SPONSORED!

Story
Meet Domino! Domino is a really adorable black-and-white puppy with the sweetest little white blaze on his forehead—like a tiny kiss of frosting right between his ears! At about 2 months old, this handsome boy is the perfect mix of curious, playful, and tender-hearted.Domino loves to explore and play, but he also seeks out attention and enjoys gentle affection. He can be a little shy at times, especially in new situations, and blossoms with patience, kindness, and reassurance. He came in with 10 of his siblings, so he’s used to puppy companionship and is still learning all about the big world. Our best guess is that Domino is a Pitty/Lab mix, though breed can’t be guaranteed. Based on his size now, we estimate he’ll grow to be around 30 lbs or possibly bigger.Domino at a glance:Curious and playfulAffectionate and people-orientedSometimes shy, especially at firstSweet, gentle puppy personalityLike all young pups, Domino will need puppy obedience training and housebreaking to help him grow into a confident, well-mannered dog. Because he’s still learning and gaining confidence, supervision is recommended with young children and cats.Domino is looking for a loving home ready to help him feel safe, supported, and cherished as he grows. If you’re searching for a sweet, soft-hearted puppy with plenty of love to give, Domino just might be your perfect match. If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $250.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Lola is a beautiful 3-year-old German Shepherd weighing approximately 60 lbs. She came to us as a stray and was later owner-surrendered when her family could no longer care for her. Now, Lola is ready for a fresh start with a home that understands and appreciates the incredible qualities of this intelligent, working breed. What We’ve Learned About Lola:Knows several commands including sit, down, paw (both), speak, and spinAppears to be fully housetrainedWalks nicely on a leashSmart, eager, and enjoys engaging with her peopleLola is still learning how to interact appropriately with other dogs. She can be a bit rude at times—jumping, being mouthy, and occasionally vocal—which are not uncommon traits in shepherds. Because of this, Lola would benefit from continued training to help her develop better canine manners.Ideal Home:An adopter with German Shepherd or working-breed experienceSomeone who can devote time, structure, training, and energy to an active dogChildren in the home should be 10 years or older (due to her size) and must meet her prior to adoptionA cat-free home is preferred; however, with slow and proper introductions, coexistence with a confident feline may be possibleLola is a loyal, intelligent dog who will thrive with the right guidance and commitment. If you’re looking for a devoted companion and have the experience to help her be her best self, Lola may be the perfect match for you.If you are interested in adopting Lola or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, they are open M-F from 10am-4pm.Adoption fee: $200
