Moose is a gentle giant. Loves kids, dogs, playtime. Needs a big dog or active companion to play with. Loves to be loved on. Husband's illness and my traveling career will no longer allow us to give him the time and energy that is best for him. Needs a loving home with space to accommodate his size and heart. YOU WILL fall in love at first meet. Calm, gentle, and a heart to be loved.

Story
I bought Teddy for my boyfriend who has Alzheimer in June 2024. I thought he would benefit from the comfort and cuteness of a puppy and for the first year, everything was good. But now, because of his declining condition, he can no longer handle the energy a young dog brings. Teddy gets along with everyone and loves other dogs and children. He is super sweet and friendly and only barks for protection. The ideal family would have a stay at home, mom and children over the age of three. He loves to travel and loves the outdoors and is often off leash at dog parks, and other safe areas to run. He is very smart and a good listener, but has not had any professional training. He is housebroken and does go on potty pads if necessary. He has been a wonderful pet and I am very sad to have to rehome him, but it is for the best interest of not only my boyfriend but for Teddy too.

Story
This 4-month-old mixed breed girl is social, spunky, and ready to steal your heart—and maybe your snacks (she is very food motivated, after all!). Thelma is outgoing and full of love, greeting everyone she meets with happy tail wags and a playful spark. ✅ Cat-approved and kid-friendly ✅ Loves other dogs and playtime ✅ Crate trained and sleeps through the night ✅ Housebroken with a consistent routine ✅ Eager to learn and easy to train ✅ Food motivated and loves to please Whether she’s making the rounds with her dog friends, chasing toys, or cozying up with her foster humans, Thelma brings joy wherever she goes. She’s confident, curious, and ready to take on the world—or at least your backyard. Thelma would thrive in a home that’s ready to continue her training, give her space to play, and let her be part of the family fun. She’d love a dog sibling but would do just fine solo too, especially if you can keep the belly rubs and adventures coming. This little lady has big love to give—don’t miss your chance to say yes to Thelma! FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping. For dogs under 6 months, they receive age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and microchipping. All dogs are spayed/neutered by 6 months, covered within the adoption fee. The procedure must be done at one of our partner clinics. To begin the adoption process, please submit an application on our website: www.hbwi.org/adopt. Once approved, you'll have the opportunity to meet our available dogs. Following the meeting, you can initiate a 5-day Adoption Trial, allowing you to take the dog home. This trial period is designed to ensure the dog is a match for you and aligns with your lifestyle. After the 5-day trial, if all goes well, the adoption will be finalized. Additionally, we require a home visit once the dog is settled in its new home to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the adopter.

Story
You know that feeling when you meet someone who just gets you? That’s Holly, a 2.5-year-old shepherd mix who rolled into our Wisconsin rescue in January, from Texas. She was a bit of a mystery at first, on a medical hold while we figured out her needs, but now? She’s pure sunshine, trotting through her foster farm with a goofy grin, weaving between horses and chickens, and loving the resident dogs. Cats, though... she’s got a nosy streak, so let’s keep her home cat-free! Holly’s got this quiet magic. She’ll flop onto the grass to soak up the sun, or lean into your hand for a scratch, like she’s saying, “This is enough.” She’s crate-trained, housebroken, and fits into any dog crew like she was born for it. But here’s the deal: Holly’s epileptic, kept steady with Phenobarbital and Keppra. She’s a fighter, and she needs someone just as strong- someone who’ll see her seizures as a small part of her huge heart. Whether you’ve got a farm where she can roam or a cozy couch for her to claim, Holly’s ready to be your ride-or-die. She’s not perfect, but she’s perfectly Holly: quirky, brave, and ready to love you with everything she’s got. If Holly’s tugging at your soul, don’t wait. Apply at www.HBWI.org/adopt and give this girl the home she’s been dreaming of! FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping. Story
Some dogs just get it—they move through the world with quiet grace, calm energy, and the kind of loyal heart that makes every day better. That’s Wanda. This girl is the total package when it comes to manners and home life. She’s fully housebroken, sleeps quietly in her crate, walks beautifully on leash, and doesn’t chew or destroy things in the home. She thrives on routine, is affectionate without being clingy, and will quietly lay nearby while you work, relax, or move through your day. She has a love for adventure, particularly water, long hikes, and car rides!! Wanda is friendly and social with dogs out in the world. But when it comes to her home space, she prefers a quieter life where she doesn’t have to share her people. She’ll do best as the only dog in the home, where she can be your loyal companion and soak up all the love for herself. Wanda is not a fan of cats as she’s a bit too curious. A feline-free home is a must. A fenced yard would be a nice bonus for Wanda, but it's not required. What Wanda really wants is a steady, loving home where she can finally relax and be part of a family... her family. Apply online: HBWI.org. FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping.
