FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet Cecil... one of these things is not like the others. Cecil is the only brown one in the litter. All the other siblings are black and white. We thought they were Border Collie mixes - hahahahaha - DNA says they are Mutts! Shepherd, Bully, Doberman, Aussie, Cattle Dog and even a little chihuahua. Hee Hee. His foster mom said: Cecil is confident and friendly. He loves 'lovins' and to be acknowledged by people. He will try for a lap but overall defaults to sleeping on a dog bed. He hasn’t gotten on the furniture except when there’s a person to cuddle with. He is respectful of the other dogs and plays well his large foster brother. Cecil is smart and is mostly housebroken. He does very well in his crate and sleeps through the night. He's great on leash, and off leash, but does get excited and barks to say hello! Cecil thinks the resident cat is fun to bark at... but he does not chase. Dog savvy cats would be OK. Cecil does sometimes like to hear himself talk, go figure - he's got that GSD DNA in him. ;) We think his ideal home is one with a large fenced yard, and another friendly dog. This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Cecil has also been put on pet insurance and cleared orthopedically. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract and refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience) on our larger breed puppies. Adoptions typically take place in Everett. This puppy is ready for it's new home! Adoption fee is $375. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet the Apple litter. Each puppy is so unique looking, and their DNA is just as unique! While mostly GSD, there is a bit Labrador / Catahoula / Husky and more. Lots of fun and friendly breeds. DNA is guessing they will be between 50-75#. Gravenstein is the biggest in the litter, about 25# plus at 4 months old. His ears are ridiculous. So shepherd, can't decide what they want to do. He is in foster and learning about all new things - again like a GSD, he's cautious then jumps right in! He met the big and little dogs in the foster home and got along great. We think their ideal home has a large fenced yard and a family ready to get this puppy out and socialized. Of course another friendly dog is always great. They are currently in foster homes with other dogs, and learning all things puppy, crate training, leash walking, etc. These puppies were found in an orchard outside of Fresno CA, unfortunately the litter of 11 got Parvo and we lost 5 due to how run down they were when found. But 6 survived and are now happy, healthy pups ready for new adventures. This puppy is spayed/neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract and $100 refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience). You pick a trainer in your area, and upon completion of a 6+ week training class, we will refund the deposit. Adoption fee is $475. Story
Maverick is an amazing puppy, he's our first dog we've had as a family and we love him dearly, however my children are not reacting well to him and it concerns me that I will be unable to properly train him to not herd them. They are becoming fearful of him and it's affecting me mentally. I think he would do well with kids over 12 or children who have experience with dogs. He has loads of energy and is very smart. He's working on potty training and does well MOST of the time. He picks up things fast and is getting the hang of "drop it" and "leave it" and does great on a leash. Knows his name and "come here". When out on a walk he is happy to greet everyone willing to say hi. e's so sweet and cute and the best foot warmer while doing dishes. Loves belly rubs and chasing a ball. I just want the best life for him and I can't give that to him. He's a full Australian cattle dog. Red and white speckled

Story
Goldie, she's a sweet dog. Unfortunately for us though, we have have been getting an increasingly more busy schedule that doesn't match her physical needs. On top of that, we're not sure if it is her fur or her saliva but, something about her causes allergic reactions for half of my family. We originally got her as a way to encourage my brother to spend more time outside of our home. Turns out though, that work would get us all too busy to properly take care of her. She hasn't been brought inside of house to be trained however, she's a good listener and can learn skills easily given the proper time. She is also quite active so, having a big enough place for her to roam or being able to take her on frequent walks is necessary for her. We believe that she is a mix of a Husky, German Shepherd, and Black Labrador combined. It hasn't been confirmed though, as the person we purchased Goldie from was the second owner and did not know her origins either. We just wish for her to be happy.
