FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- This boy!!! Cecil has been with Save-A-Mutt for a year now. We are so confused as to why this big goof has not found his forever home. Fortunately he is surrounded by an amazing community and a loving foster home. Cecils is all Mutt! Shepherd, Bully, Doberman, Aussie, Cattle Dog and even a little chihuahua. Hee Hee. Cecil turned a year old in November. He's about 70#. Cecil is confident and friendly. He loves 'lovins' and to be acknowledged by his people. He will try for a lap but overall defaults to sleeping on a dog bed. He hasn’t gotten on the furniture except when there’s a person to cuddle with. He is respectful of the other dogs and plays well his foster siblings. Cecil is smart and housebroken. He does very well in his crate and sleeps through the night. Cecil thinks the resident cat is fun to bark at... but he does not chase. Dog savvy cats would be OK. Cecil does sometimes like to hear himself talk, go figure - he's got that GSD DNA in him. ;) We think his ideal home is one with a large fenced yard, and another larger friendly dog. Older kids would be fine, cuz Cecil is a big door and may knock over smaller children. This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Cecil has also been put on pet insurance and cleared orthopedically. He's great off leash, but as he's become a 'teenager' has gotten more excited and barks on leash. We started Cecil in private dog training with Evergreen School for Dogs in Arlington. His foster mom is taking him and says Cecil is very smart and responsive. The trainer explained that Cecil is naturally 'fearful' in a crowd. Off leash at the park, he's great, because if he gets concerned, he can walk away. But at events with LOTS of commotion, when he can't move away, he reacts by barking. We think his ideal family knows that Cecil will unlikely be the type of dog you take to heavily trafficked events - but camping, hiking, and other fun would be great for him! His foster noticed that Cecil had been a little itchy - and after a visit to the vet, an allergy test, we discovered that he has some extensive allergies to plants, mold, cats, etc. Fortunately - Cecil is on pet insurance and it can be transferred when he is adopted. Now that it's winter, he is just fine on OTC allergy meds. Come summer, when the grasses and pollens are more saturated, a monthly cytopoint injection will take care of his issues. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract and refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience) on our larger breed puppies. Adoptions typically take place in Everett. This puppy is ready for it's new home! Adoption fee is $325. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- What do we love... we love when a foster's first response to a dog is "Hubs is pretty awesome!" And we agree! According to DNA, Hubble is a pretty funny mix of Chihuahua Rottweiler - we did a bit of giggling when that came back. He looks very much like a Labrador mix. This boy has been a joy in his foster home, he loves the other dogs, cats and even met chickens and goats - didn't really give them much notice. Hubble came from a California shelter with is brother - who has been adopted and is doing great. In his foster home, Hubble is crate trained and housebroken. He is a great mix of 'little spoon' on the couch, and exuberant play mate with the resident dogs. With a recent snow - you'd think this boy was part husky.... he LOVED the snow, running and playing with his foster sister Rosie. We know he would enjoy having another friendly dog in his adoptive home - or frequent playmates. At about 8 months old, he just weighed in at 40# - we are guessing he might be about 50# when fully grown. Hubble has even been to the local brewery to meet people and play with the other dogs. Hubs would love a family willing to take him on adventures. He's even a good car companion. This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet Rosie! I think her trainer said it best - working with her genetics and drive will be the top priority for Rosie's forever home. Olive with Bark Trek LOVES the working breeds. Found as a stray and dumped at a local shelter, we didn't have a lot of history on this girl. She was shy and shut down in the beginning. As she became more settled, her herding instincts kicked in hard and every human in her foster home was a target for her to 'move along.' Working with Bark Trek - Rosie was given direction and the work included building her confidence around new people and new places, giving her a solid foundation for basic obedience, games and toy structure, and making sure she knows how to wear a muzzle with comfort and pride. Rosie is a SUPER smart, super border collie girl. That being said, we are looking for a home that: A) has Border Collie / Cattle Dog experience. B) has patience to work with Rosie BOTH with and without a trainer C) understands the concept of 3/3/3 and that Rosie will need time to settle into her new forever home. D) has another friendly dog or two, Rosie loves her playmates. We would be more than willing to do a foster to adopt to make sure her placement is a good fit for Rosie and her new family. Because of her genetics we are asking for no cats and no small kids (16+ preferred). She is a barker by breed - and an experienced cattle dog person will know that. She is just over a year old (November) and weighs under 45#. This dog is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. She is on pet insurance and was cleared orthopedically. We can help you find a trainer. Adoptions typically take place in Marysville. Adoption fee is $375 + $100 refundable training deposit. Story
Jacqueo is 3 years old male mix of mostly poodle, German shepherd, border collie (and a negligible amount of pit and boxer). Jacqueo is the sweetest dog I have ever met. He is so eager to please and learns so fast- incredibly smart. We adopted him 10/2022 and have done trainers, classes, crate training, doggy day care, dog parks. He knows all basic commands and is housebroken. He has the most energy that anyone has seen. He really needs to live on acres of land- we have a medium-large backyard and it is not big enough. He has separation anxiety- he’s come a long way! He takes medication for it. He must be in a home with an experienced trainer in this with a lot of patience. We did not think we could have kids, but had a baby and his needs are too great for us. This is putting so much added stress on our family and jacqueo. He deserves a home where he is number one. My biggest need is for someone to love him as much as I do.

Story
Goldie, she's a sweet dog. Unfortunately for us though, we have have been getting an increasingly more busy schedule that doesn't match her physical needs. On top of that, we're not sure if it is her fur or her saliva but, something about her causes allergic reactions for half of my family. We originally got her as a way to encourage my brother to spend more time outside of our home. Turns out though, that work would get us all too busy to properly take care of her. She hasn't been brought inside of house to be trained however, she's a good listener and can learn skills easily given the proper time. She is also quite active so, having a big enough place for her to roam or being able to take her on frequent walks is necessary for her. We believe that she is a mix of a Husky, German Shepherd, and Black Labrador combined. It hasn't been confirmed though, as the person we purchased Goldie from was the second owner and did not know her origins either. We just wish for her to be happy.
