Story
** Currently fostered in Houston Texas, but available for adoption out of state via rescue transportation, included in adoption fee. Offer Zoom call to virtually meet prior to adoption. Meet Barkley! This sweet baby wandered up on someone's property. He was wearing a harness on that had the brand name boots and barkley, so that's where the finder got his name. Barkley was chipped, but unfortunately it was not registered. It shows that he was adopted in January2023, and that he is estimated about 5 years of age. He currently weighs around 55 lbs and we believe him to be a border collie/cattle dog mix. He has energy and he loves to run and play, but can be a couch potato too. His favorite thing in the world is to play fetch with a ball! Barkley likes other dogs if they are female, but has not been a fan of males. We believe it's from a lack of social time with other dogs because he doesn't come off as just an aggressive pup, he just seems like he was kept in a yard and ignored a lot of the time prior to rescue and may not be familiar with most dogs. Barkley clearly knows his basic commands, such as sit, kennel, shake and settle. He is highly toy and food motivated and responds wonderfully to focused training. With continued training, we could even see him being an agility pup! Barkley is crate trained, housebroken and does well on leash. He is fully vetted, meaning he us neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped and on monthly preventions for flea, tick and heartworm. For more information on how to adopt Barkley, contact us at MokasMission@Gmail.com for an application.

Story
*Currently fostered in Houston Texas, available for out of state adoptions via rescue transportation. Video meet and greet available prior to commitment* This dog is a collaborative effort between Moka's Mission and Houston Chow Chow Connection. Mocha is a fluffy mixed pup just eager to find her new lease in life. She was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas just moments before being euthanized. She is believed to be around 4 years old, and based on behaviors definitely has GSD, Chow Chow, and even possibly husky mixed in her as well. Current weight around 65, 70 lbs. Mocha is a smiling, eager to please, extremely intelligent pup who clearly has been desperate for reaching a potential that was never offered to her prior. She loves to play with toys now, ( was unfamiliar with on arrival) and can be quirky, and vocal during her playful bouts. A game of tug which result in some head pats is her favorite. She also is very smart, and when given attention and motivation is quick to learn. She already knows several basic commands including sit, shake, kennel, wait, settle, and leave it. She is extremely versatile and once she trusts you, will give you her best. If you want to go hiking or exercise, she is all about it. If you want a pup to relax in the home and enjoy a movie day, she is ready! She loves to curl up on the couch or at your feet when it's time to settle down, but when it's time to go she is the first one to be there and ready for you. She also loves to keep you company while you do the most menial house chore's such as laundry or dishes. Mocha clearly was kept away from other dogs and animals when she was owned previously, so we do think she'd be best as an only pup. Proper continued socialization training would be required in order for her to eventually be able to share space with other dogs, but she would need to be socialized as an only dog first before considering adding another in. She clearly has a desire to want to know other dogs and can walk by them and flirt while on leash just fine during walks. However, she hasn't had enough time and proper playmates to engage in playtime at present without being rough. Unfortunately, she is not ok with cats, which is to be expected of the breeds she possesses. Mocha is fully vetted meaning she is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and on monthly prevention for flea, tick, and heartworm. Her adoption fee and transport is dependent on services used. For more information on Mocha, please contact us at MokasMission@Gmail.com, or to apply for adoption please fill out an application here: https://form.jotform.com/41173109602142

Story
Lucy is a very loving, affectionate, and attentive companion, without being needy. She lives for her “adventures” (walks, runs, hikes) and is always searching out bunny rabbits as well as any other scent left by all critters. At home she will lounge for a while, ask if it’s time for a walk and rest again if denied, then she’ll make her rounds in the yard and rest again until walk time; she wants to please her human. She is not food motivated, and so doesn’t beg, but is curious with all smells Lucy lived with a cat for a few months and, though she would chase and play, she never made an attempt to hurt the cat. Lucy loves to run and play. Lucy is very good on a leash and will listen to commands as well as being aware of the pace of her tethered human, she has on occasion darted after a squirrel so her human needs to be strong enough to hold her when she forgets her manners. Lucy had a tough life for the first 4 years so she will get defensive if a dog snaps at her. Her first priority at a dog park is to run and play with other dogs, but she will defend herself if a dog is aggressive towards her. She de-escalates when pulled out of a scuffle, and she’s tried to make friends again when it’s over. Lucy needs someone who will be attentive to her as well and can intervene if necessary, or just not take her to an off leash dog park. Lucy loves other dogs but is most at ease as an only dog in her forever home. If you think Lucy would be the perfect fit for your family please complete our adoption application. houstonk911rescue.org/adopt Lucy is located in Houston, Texas.

Story
Lil Mama is currently in a foster home at a rescue in Oklahoma. We are looking for a home in a state where people treat their animals well. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport in one of the cities listed below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, she will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Lil Mama is a possible Shepherd/Terrier mix but is only around 30-35 pounds. She is around 1 year old (January 4th). She and some puppies were dumped outside of Tishomingo on a dangerous bridge, on a highway, above a huge river. Luckily, they were seen by the public and our animal control officer was able to save them. -Can be shy at first, but she warmed up to me within 5 minutes of meeting her. Very well mannered -Walks on a leash well -Gets along great with numerous other dogs that she's been put to play with, males and females both. -This poor girl deserves a family that will love her. -Video of Lil Mama: https://youtube.com/shorts/mN-TVLKDxh4?feature=share Lil Mama is spayed, vaccinated (Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella), has been dewormed, a negative heartworm test as of December 12. Story
Echo is a sweet approximately 15 months old pup who was rescued from a high kill Animal Shelter of Texas, where she spent a long time cooped up. She got lucky due to her sweet disposition. She was a shelter favorite. Echo is a very sweet and calm girl who loves her humans. She lives with both dogs and cats, and usually does not bother them as she is velcro and finds her humans to follow. She would do good as an only pet, getting all the attention and affection. She is laidback and obedient. She is also highly trainable as she is a quick learner. A home with a fully fenced yard would be mandatory for her, as well as a family who can dedicate time, patience and love. Echo is currently about 45 pounds. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. She is heartworm negative and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. Her adoption fee includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, Harness, leash, and Interstate Health Certificate for our out of state adopters. Sweet Echo is being fostered in Texas, but can travel to any state, and even Canada for the right home. To meet this gorgeous girl via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, and the ones who are taken to our shelters, where they are euthanized if they are not rescued or adopted. By adopting one of our pups, you are actually saving two lives - the one they adopt, the one who takes their space in the foster home.
