Story
This sweet young English Pointer mix (and yes, her name is Birdie for a reason!) is as lovable as she is playful. Weighing in at 38 pounds, Birdie is already potty trained, crate trained, active and healthy. She’s a fetch enthusiast and will happily chase after anything you throw—though she’s still working on bringing it back every time! She's great on a leash and can entertain herself for hours in a fenced yard. Birdie is a social butterfly who gets along great with other dogs, whether big or small. She warms up to everyone very quickly, especially when she realizes you're her new best friend. She would also be great with older kids. Birdie is smart, affectionate, and sweet. She’s got a laid-back side too — if you let her, she’d happily curl up next to you for hours. This brave little pup was found on Christmas Eve on a cold and rainy night in Texas. She was found abandoned by a boat with fireworks going off nearby. She was so scared that she jumped right into her foster’s EV, ready to find safety and love! Since then, she’s blossomed into a happy, affectionate companion who can’t wait to find her forever family. If you're looking for a smart, loving, and playful pup to bring joy to your home, Birdie Bean just might be the one for you! We can drive this pup to your area! Story
Van is a handsome boy who is looking for his forever home. He's great with kids, other dogs, and we think he would be good with cats too if he grows up with a cat. Van and his siblings were born into our rescue. Their mom, Hazel, was rescued while heavily pregnant and a volunteer brought her inside just in time to have her babies. They are healthy and happy and momma is doing great too. These puppies are friendly and well-socialized, as they've lived inside with people their whole lives. They are good with other dogs. We don't know about cats yet, but we predict they would do just fine if they grow up with a cat. As of May they are 13 weeks old. We would love to talk to you more about them on the phone. Please send us an application and we'll give you a call! Story
Animal Profile: Freya is an estimated 4-year-old, 60 lb female German Shepherd who has a lot of love to give. She is smart and loves to work for you. She will thrive with a strong leader --  otherwise she is prone to anxiety. She is house trained, crate trained, fully obedience trained and will do best with a Shepherd-savvy owner capable of providing her with guidance as well as physical and mental stimulation. Freya LOVES to fetch and BALL IS LIFE. She walks well on a leash with a training collar. This loyal and affectionate girl is slow to warm up to new people and will need an owner who is comfortable managing her safe introductions to strangers, but once you earn her trust, she's very eager to please. Freya has lived with other dogs and loves to play with them; she's good with dogs big and small, male and female. At this time we are prioritizing a home for Freya with a resident dog(s) as we think she would do best in a pack. She's also been tested with cats and exhibits no prey drive, and is amusingly scared of chickens. She is currently living in a home with small children and has done well with them, but we would prefer to place her in an adult-only home.  Adopter Profile:  Large dog experience required Shepherd experience preferred Single family residence required (no apartments) Secure fenced yard required Other balanced dog(s) preferred Cats OK No kids preferred Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $400 which includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a federal 501c3 organization.  TAKE HOME TRAINING SESSION INCLUDED WITH ADOPTION Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Freya was found as a stray in Dec 2020 in Tacoma extremely underweight (40 lbs) and very scared. She was taken into Tacoma Humane Society and transferred to Dog Gone Seattle. She was fostered with DGS for several months while she learned basic manners and gained 15 lbs. She was adopted in March 2021 and lived with a caring family. Unfortunately they lived in a condo with no secure yard in a busy urban environment, which proved too challenging for Freya with those particular owners. She was returned to DGS in April 2022 and received a professional board and train with our training partner Seattle K9 Command. She is now being fostered in Bothell and available for adoption in the greater Seattle area.  September 5, 2025, 8:50 pm

Story
Meet Marc Anthony! Marc Anthony is an 19-month-old 50 lb neutered male hound mix who has come a long way in his almost year of foster care, including recent work with Tayah of To the Point Dog Training. This smart, athletic, and loyal pup has blossomed into a confident, social, and well-mannered dog. In his foster home, Marc has mastered leash walking (both on and off leash), crate training, potty training, and basic obedience. He has excellent social skills with other dogs, greeting new pups confidently and learning the ropes of pack life. What’s most remarkable is how far he’s come from his early days—arriving terrified of strangers, especially children, and reactive to many new sights and experiences. Marc Anthony thrives with mental and physical stimulation and would do best with calm, consistent leadership. He would flourish in a home with other dogs, though he could also be an only dog if he receives regular opportunities for dog socialization. He’s best suited for a home without cats or small children. With the right family, Marc Anthony will be a loving, playful, and devoted companion who brings energy, intelligence, and heart to every day. He’s ready for his forever home—and he’s ready to shine. Adopter Profile:&#226&#128&#139 Dog experience required / large breed experience preferred No cats preferred  Fenced yard preferred Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA guidelines, negative heartworm test, and microchip. Adoption includes take home training and support from To The Point Dog Training. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization.  Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Mark Anthony, Cleo and Alexander were born in March 2024 in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma. Sadly, they were found on a property tied to trees with only barrels for shelter in the sweltering heat. Our rescue partners at Furry Freight were alerted to their conditions and reached out to see if we could help and we had to say yes! He arrived to us 7/21/24 very fearful, and after a stint in 'regular' foster care made his way to To the Point Dog Training in Tacoma to get some professional help with basic training and confidence building. He is now available for adoption in the greater Seattle area. November 6, 2025, 11:15 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Rico is an almost 6-year-old (DOB 10/1/2019), 80 lb neutered male German Shepherd with a very sad story looking for a brighter future. He seems older than his years, due to his history of neglect, but he is now safe in foster care and getting the TLC he will need to thrive. Rico has some chronic skin issues that are improving, but will need ongoing supportive care with quality food and supplements. He will also need a structured exercise regimen to promote muscle growth and weight loss. Rico is open to connection with a human -- you can see it in his eyes. He has no aggressive tendencies with humans or dogs but is just awkward with interaction. You can see he wants to do it! He is house trained (with regular access to potty breaks) and crate trained, and has quickly learned some basic obedience such as sit and heel in foster care. He does not have any reactivity on leash but does pull without a prong collar. He seems to have some prey drive for toys (which will be helpful for connection and his spirit!) and cars. We will test him with cats and share that info. More updates as we get to know him.  Animal History: Rico was purchased from Tannerhaus GSD, a "reputable breeder" (we DO NOT recommend) that advertises they take their dogs back, but when Rico's senior owner had to move to assisted living, the breeder did not uphold the contract. Rico's family discovered that Rico had not been let outside regularly in years, was forced to potty in the house, and did not have regular access to water; he was more of a well-fed houseplant with limited mental or physical stimulation, or even touch. His owner's family could not find placement for him and moved him to a kennel where he stayed for months and developed skin issues, including a systemic fungal infection. When they could no longer afford to kennel him, they reached out and we could not refuse to help him. Rico found emergency placement with The Good Dog Way in Bellingham (6/9/2025) and began his journey to recovery. He is now in foster care in Bothell and making great progress. He is available for adoption to the greater Seattle area, though we are continuing to work on his physical and mental condition. We will update his profile as he progresses.  Adoption Info: The adoption fee is $575 which includes his neuter, core vaccinations,  DPPV, Bordetella, microchip, and recent health check with a veterinarian. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application  November 7, 2025, 10:57 pm

Story
Meet Toad! Toad is an 1 year old neutered mixed breed (a little herding dog, a little terrier, and a whole lot of personality). He came to us as a stray puppy in rural Texas back in January 2025 with his siblings—who’ve since found their families. Now it’s Toad’s turn! This friendly boy checks all the boxes: dog-, cat-, and kid-friendly. He’s the trifecta, ready to fit right into family life. Foster Update: Toad is basically pure mischief wrapped in a cuddly, cow-spotted package. His unique “reverse Guernsey cow” coat—mostly white with tan patches—makes him look like a tiny calf, but don’t be fooled: he’s all pup, no moo. Cuddles are his specialty.  Snuggling into a cozy bed at night is his favorite event. He truly believes affection should be an Olympic sport—he’d take home a gold medal every time. He can get a little lonely when left alone but nothing major - he is happiest when he's part of the action.  When Toad's not curled up in cuddle mode, he’s all about the zoomies. This little speedster turns the backyard into his personal racetrack, especially when teamed up with the resident dog. Together, they’re a blur of paws, wagging tails, and joyful chaos. Toad’s dream home? A family who loves snuggles as much as he does, with space to zoom and (ideally) a playful canine friend to romp with. Because of his herding mix and energy level, we aren’t considering apartments for Toad at this time. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was a stray intake along with his two littermates in rural Texas and rescued in collaboration with AARC Del Rio, arriving via Paws Up Rescue Transport on 1/9/2024 to foster care in Seattle. He is available for adoption in the greater Seattle area. November 8, 2025, 1:10 am
