Story
Hi, my name is Daisy, and I love to play and search for food! I am 12 pounds and physically in great shape, but behaviorally I have some challenges due to inbreeding. After a lot of work with a vet and a trainer, my mom and dad believe I would thrive in a one-person household with no other animals and a consistent routine. I also need a patient human who can take the time to understand my special needs - which my owners will be happy to go over in-depth. I'd also love someone who can take me outdoors a lot to sniff and explore!

Story
Hugo is a 65lbs, senior, pittie mix looking for his forever human(s) to help him make the last part of his life THE BEST PART. He is thought to be around 10-12 years old, but Hugo reminds us that age is just a number and you are never too old for new beginnings. Hugo was picked up as a dirty ‘stray’ walking around Houston with a large tumor (it wasn’t cancer and was benign…yay!) dangling from his side. He seems to have had a home at one point— he’s comfortable and loving with people, has decent leash walking skills, and someone went thru the trouble of giving him an ‘at home crop job’ leaving his ears butchered. Unfortunately, he quickly found himself at the top of the euthanasia list due to his age. That’s when MHCR decided to help. After arriving into rescue, Hugo got a makeover—neuter, tumor removal, and an extensive dental cleaning with numerous extractions. He was a total champ! He is doing well with a great attitude and had beautiful levels on his bloodwork! Hugo is looking for a nice retirement home without a ton of hustle and bustle. He does have arthritis and appreciates not having to do a lot of stairs, though he would never admit it and still thinks he can do all the things. He also doesn’t hear very well, but he doesn’t seem to mind; in fact, he’s a character and sometimes we suspect maybe his hearing is just selective. He loves meals, occasional strolls, comfy beds, and is a low maintenance fellow. Hugo is ready to give his forever humans all the love in the world for as long as they are lucky to have him. He also likes kids, other dogs and doesn’t seem to mind cats! Hugo is being fostered in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/hugo/. Story
Tori is a beautiful, brindle, pocket pittie girl weighing in at 32 lbs. Shes only about a year old and we have quickly fallen in love with her sweet disposition, quiet nature, and quirky mismatched ears and long tongue! Tori was physically healthy but completely terrified during her time in the shelter with all the chaos and loud noises; her shelter notes describe her trembling at intake, cowering in the corner or on the floor, her tail between her legs, and being completely shut down and not wanting to walk on a leash. She was not aggressive but due to how terrified she was, she landed on the dreaded list after only four days. We tagged her in the nick of time. We are so glad we took a chance on her. She is a very different dog in a foster home! She is a submissive girl in general who appreciates somewhat calm environments and patient people. We suspect humans werent always nice to her, but once she gets over the initial hesitation and realizes you are nice, she loves with her whole heart! We have found she thrives after some decompression time and predictability! She is getting braver every day and is actually very playful; she gives kisses, enjoys humans and other dogs, and has the most adorable zoomies! She does not seem to be very high energy though and is a master at house hippo-ing and sleeps though the night. She is also crate trained and likely housetrained. If your family can promise her safety and consistency, snuggles, belly rubs, and snacks (she loves food very much ), please apply for Tori! Tori is in foster in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/tori You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
Meet Marley, a 4-month-old Great Pyrenees with the classic Pyrenees personality: laid-back, fearless, stubborn, and completely unbothered by pretty much anything. Marley has plenty of puppy energy and, naturally, believes everything belongs in his mouth. He loves people, loves dogs, and would be thrilled to have a dog friend with similar energy—but its not a must if his family is ready to give this big guy plenty of appropriate outlets. Hes about 90% potty trained, sleeps and eats in his crate, and is very food motivated—which should make training a whole lot easier. Hes still working on the I love my crate part and will let you know when hes not thrilled about being left home. Marley is equal parts chill Pyrenees and goofy puppy, and hes going to be one big, lovable, hilarious boy. Marley is in foster in Frederick, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/marley You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
Meet Ziggy! Ziggy is a 12-year-old Golden Retriever who is basically a big, goofy puppy in a golden package. He loves people, loves other dogs, and loves being part of the action. His ideal home will keep his body and brain busy with walks, adventures, training, playtime, and plenty of quality time with his humans. Ziggy struggles when left alone, so hes looking for a family where someone is home often or who can bring him along for the fun. A fenced in yard is also required. Ziggy came to a very rural shelter in Texas as a stray and, heartbreakingly, was never reclaimed. We cant imagine how anyone could leave this happy, lovable guy behind—but were pretty sure his next chapter is going to be much better. If youre looking for a fun-loving, social, slightly ridiculous young Golden to join you for lifes adventures, Ziggy might be your guy! Ziggy is in foster in Westminster, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/ziggy You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
Meet Debbie 🤍 Debbie is a 2-year-old, 40 lb shepherd mix with a tender heart and a playful spirit. She was adopted as a young pup and returned to our care a year later. Now that she’s 2, we know so much more about what she needs to truly thrive — and it’s a special, understanding home. Debbie is looking for a calm environment with minimal visitors and no kiddos. She needs patience, consistency, and clear structure to help her feel safe and confident. Once she settles in, her goofy, loving personality really shines. She would absolutely love a playful dog companion to help burn energy and build confidence. Debbie is an enthusiastic player and sometimes uses her teeth during play — think silly “love nibbles” that just need continued guidance and appropriate outlets. One of her most endearing quirks? She has an emotional support tire (her beloved “wheel”) that she proudly carries around, chases, and will gently drop at your feet — sometimes right in your toes while you’re cooking — as her way of including you in the fun. It’s her comfort item and her joy all in one. She also has a soft side: peanut butter and yogurt licked off a spoon are absolute favorites, and those quiet bonding moments mean the world to her. Debbie isn’t for everyone — but for the right person who can offer patience, space, routine, and love, she will be a deeply loyal and entertaining companion. She just needs someone willing to meet her where she is and help her feel safe enough to blossom. 💛 Debbie is being fostered in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/debbie/.
