Story

I adopted Maisie from the Boulder Humane Society in November, 2021. She was 3-4 months old and had been picked up in New Mexico. She was on medication for anxiety and I was told she should be homed with another older dog and kept away from children. I live in a condo with a small deck area and I am very active outdoors so I thought that would be helpful to her anxiety. She exhibited aggressive behavior towards kids, cyclists and runners along trails so I took for to High Drive Training and we did the full training and advanced training and I was trained in how to use and ecollar. We also did Grumpy Growler Training through the Boulder Humane Society. She has gotten aggressive towards other dogs while she is on leash but off leash she is fine. She is afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks. When she is near children and they make sudden moves she does get aggressive. I am moving to be near my grand children so I need to rehome her to someone that has a yard and another dog hopefully.

Hi I'm Boone. I might be the sweetest boy you've ever met and I give the best hugs. My motto in life is play hard, cuddle hard. Playing with other dogs and running around outside are my favorite things to do. I can’t deny that I am fascinated by bunnies and squirrels, I might need some help focusing! The only thing I like more than playing with other dogs is getting love from my family. I admit, I do like women more than men, and start out a little uncomfortable around strangers. If cuddling was an Olympic sport, I would win the gold medal. I'm pretty chill and up for just about any adventure. I'm also super smart and learn quickly. I am good on my leash but I do need some more training, that’s for sure, those mountain bikers totally worry me. Lucky for us, the rescue has free training classes for adopters! Hi I'm Fred, Freddie, and sometimes even Frederick! My siblings George, Ginny, and I arrived in Colorado at 8 weeks old after being born in the shelter in New Mexico. Even with this rough start to life, we immediately loved people and other dogs! We are almost 12 weeks old and soon to visit the vet for something called a neuter- whatever that means! I am the most confident and active of the three of us! I love to stay busy with toys, other dogs, and being outside. I'm starting some training with treats and learning new words like sit, outside, inside and food/hungry! Food is my favorite time of day and right now I am eating 3 times a day to keep my weight up with my energy as I grow. I'd love to give you kisses and I'm learning to not turn them into nibbles. They say I'll be best suited in a house with a fence, probably with someone who has shepherd breed experience, and older or no kids. I plan on being very smart and need to be entertained with training and enrichment. Hi I'm Griffin, but my friends call me Yodi! I'm a little over a year old and about 50 pounds. I love people and other dogs, but no kitties please! For a young guy, I have quite a story! My foster mama was down in new mexico volunteering at a spay neuter clinic and was staying in a cabin in a fairly remote area. I had been loose for a while and was really hungry and she looked pretty nice, so even though I was really scared, I made a few appearances on her porch hoping she would see me. She did, and spent a few hours luring me in with food and snacks. The vet team was able to check me out and get me all my pokes and prods so I could travel home with them to Colorado. Even though I was frozen with fear, I was a really good boy and let them do what they needed to. After a few months in my foster home getting fattened up, I learned that I actually really love people and get really excited to meet new ones! Some dogs I need a little slower intro with, but some I love right away and am ready to play! I would do best in a home with another social and playful dog, no kitties please. I do need a 6ft tall fence though, I'm part kangaroo I think (they have those in NM right?). Besides hanging out with my people and dog friends, I also like to "herd" all my stuffies into one big pile.
